How to orderSpecifications
Custom Outdoor Wall Decals are cut from 4 mil white PVC calendar film with a matte finish and backed with heavy-duty permanent adhesive rated for textured exterior surfaces. They're built for building facades, exterior wayfinding, and outdoor mural replacement on rough walls including brick, stucco, and concrete block.
- Material
- 4 mil white PVC calendar film, matte finish.A thin but sturdy vinyl sheet that conforms to flat and slightly textured exterior surfaces without cracking or curling.
- Print Method
- UV printing (ink cured instantly under ultraviolet light).Produces a scratch-resistant, waterproof surface that does not smear or wash off in rain.
- Color Output
- CMYK full-color at 720 DPI minimum.CMYK is the 4-color process using cyan, magenta, yellow, and black that reproduces your artwork accurately.
- Finishing
- Die-cut to custom shape. Kiss-cut on backing sheet for clean peeling and application.Backing sheet stays intact so you don't handle loose vinyl edges against a rough wall.
- Size Range
- Custom sizes up to 58.5 in wide without a seam.Decals wider than 58.5 in ship in multiple aligned panels with overlap guides included.
- Indoor/Outdoor Rating
- Rated for interior and exterior walls. UV resistance holds color for 3 to 5 years in direct sun.South-facing walls with all-day exposure typically see faster fade toward the 3-year end of that range.
- Single/Double-Sided
- Single-sided only. Adhesive back bonds to the wall. Printed face displays outward. This is not a two-sided display product.
- Adhesive Type
- Permanent adhesive rated for brick, stucco, concrete block, exterior wood siding, and painted metal.Bond reaches full strength within 72 hours of application.

Heavy-Duty Permanent Adhesive Rated for Textured Exterior Surfaces
Permanent adhesive fills the texture gaps in brick, stucco, concrete block, and exterior wood siding, so the decal bonds fully across the surface rather than bridging over high spots and lifting at the edges. Most wall adhesives contact only the raised points on rough surfaces. This one pushes into the low spots too. Full contact. And that difference is exactly why edge lifting on textured walls stays a problem with standard decals but not with these.
Worth knowing: the bond reaches full strength within 72 hours of application, so give it time before exposing fresh edges to direct weather.
UV-Printed Color That Holds 3 to 5 Years in Direct Sun
UV printing cures ink instantly under ultraviolet light, creating a scratch-resistant, waterproof surface that resists color fade for 3 to 5 years outdoors. South-facing walls with all-day sun exposure may see faster fade toward the 3-year end of that range. But even at the shorter end, that's 2 to 3 full repaints avoided on a building that would otherwise need annual touch-ups. A2Z Printing Hub runs every outdoor wall decal through UV cure so the graphic stays bold through rain, heat, and direct sun without a reprint.
Die-Cut to Any Shape Up to 58.5 in Wide
Die-cutting (trimming the vinyl to the exact outline of your design rather than a standard rectangle) lets a logo or mural follow its natural shape against a brick or stucco face. Kiss-cutting (cutting through the vinyl layer only, leaving the backing sheet intact) means you peel and apply without handling loose vinyl edges on a rough wall surface. Decals wider than 58.5 in ship in multiple aligned panels with overlap guides included.
Sharp edges. Clean peel. Exact shape on the wall.

Ideal for
Not the best fit for
Glass or window surfaces need a different adhesive type and visibility spec. Window Decals (clings, perforated, frosted, or clear vinyl) are the right choice there.
Floor surfaces with foot traffic need anti-slip lamination that wall decals do not carry. Floor Decals with 7 mil non-slip lamination handle that job.
Very rough or porous unfinished stone does not give enough adhesive contact area for a reliable bond. Custom Signs on standoffs or mounted hardware hold better on those surfaces.
How to choose
Use these buying points to choose the right Custom Outdoor Wall Decals configuration.
-
Smooth Exterior Wall Versus Rough Textured Surface
Smooth painted concrete, exterior metal panels, and smooth exterior wood siding give the adhesive full contact across the face. A standard outdoor wall decal bonds cleanly on those surfaces with no extra prep. Rough brick and stucco also work. But you need to press firmly across the entire surface and allow 72 hours before the bond reaches full strength. Very rough or porous unfinished stone does not give enough contact area for a reliable hold. Go with a mounted Custom Sign on those surfaces instead.
-
Small Logo Decal Versus Large Multi-Panel Mural
Decals under 3 ft in any dimension are easy to self-apply with the squeegee and instructions included in your shipment. Decals over 58.5 in in any dimension ship in multiple panels with panel numbering and 0.5 in overlap guides. For murals covering more than 8 ft by 10 ft on a textured wall, plan for professional installation to get panel-to-panel alignment right on the first attempt.
-
Outdoor Wall Decal Versus Mounted Custom Sign for the Same Wall
A wall decal sits flush against the surface and becomes part of the wall visually. A mounted Custom Sign sits proud of the wall on standoffs or screws and adds a dimensional look. Choose the decal when you want a flat, painted-on appearance. Choose the mounted sign when the surface is too rough for adhesive contact or when you want the sign to be removable without surface prep.
-
Outdoor Wall Decal Versus Custom Banner Hung on Wall Hardware
A wall decal bonds directly to the exterior surface and stays there for 3 to 5 years. A Custom Banner hangs from wall hardware and comes down between uses. Choose the decal for permanent building branding. Choose the banner when the message changes seasonally or when you cannot modify the wall surface.
Pair it with
Cover Every Exterior Surface on the Same Building
Your outdoor wall decal handles the solid wall sections. Window Decals cover the glass panels on the same facade, so your branding reads consistently across brick, stucco, and glass at once. And Door Decals carry the same identity down to the exterior door panel where foot traffic enters.
Carry the Brand From the Exterior Wall Through the Entrance
An outdoor wall decal stops at the building threshold. Custom Indoor Wall Decals and Floor Decals continue the same graphic identity through the lobby and across the interior floor, completing the full surface path from outside to inside.
When the Surface Won't Hold an Adhesive
Very rough or porous stone surfaces don't give the adhesive enough contact area for a reliable bond. Custom Signs mounted on standoffs hold firmly on those surfaces. Custom Banners hung on wall hardware give you a removable option when the message changes seasonally.
Sidewalk and Street-Level Presence
Your wall graphic reads from across a parking lot, but A-Frame Signs at the sidewalk edge work at eye level where people decide to walk in. Pair both to cover roughly 3 ft off the ground through 10 ft up the facade.
FAQs
Will the Adhesive Actually Grip Brick and Stucco Without Peeling at the Edges?
Yes, and here's the thing: the heavy-duty permanent adhesive on 4 mil PVC calendar film is specifically rated for textured exterior surfaces. It fills the texture gaps in brick and stucco rather than bridging over high spots and lifting at the edges. Press firmly across the full face on application. Full bond strength takes 72 hours on rough surfaces, so avoid heavy rain contact during that window.
How Long Will Outdoor Wall Decals Hold Color on a South-Facing Wall?
UV-resistant ink holds color for 3 to 5 years in direct sun on exterior surfaces. South-facing walls with all-day exposure may see fade toward the 3-year end of that range. Walls with partial shade or north-facing orientation typically hold closer to 5 years. That range covers full seasonal cycles including summer heat and freeze-thaw cycles in winter.
Can I Apply a Large Outdoor Wall Decal Myself, or Does It Need Professional Installation?
Decals under 3 ft in any dimension are straightforward to self-apply with the squeegee and instructions included in your order. Decals over 58.5 in ship in multiple panels with overlap guides and panel numbering. For murals covering more than 8 ft by 10 ft on a textured wall like brick or stucco, professional installation gets panel-to-panel alignment right on the first attempt.
Will Removing the Decal Later Damage the Exterior Wall Surface or Leave Residue on Brick?
Removal is more involved on porous surfaces than on smooth ones. Use a heat gun on a low setting to soften the adhesive, then peel slowly from one corner at a 45-degree angle. Adhesive residue on brick or stucco may need mineral spirits and a stiff brush to clear fully. Painted metal and smooth concrete release more cleanly with the same heat-and-peel method.
What File Format and Resolution Do I Need for Sharp Output on a Large Exterior Wall Graphic?
Submit PDF, AI, PNG, or JPG files at 300 DPI minimum for decals under 4 ft, where viewers get within arm's reach. For large-format murals, submit at actual print dimensions or in vector format. Color mode must be CMYK. On rough surfaces like brick and stucco, bold and simple designs hold better because fine detail can be lost in the texture gaps between the adhesive face and the wall.
Get your artwork right
Accepted file formats are PDF, PNG, JPG, and AI. Vector files (AI or PDF) work best for logos and text because they scale to any size without losing sharpness.
- Resolution
- Resolution sits at 150 DPI minimum at final print size. We recommend 300 DPI for any decal under 4 ft, since viewers get within arm's reach and a soft edge shows up clearly at that distance. Set color mode to CMYK, not RGB. CMYK is the 4-color printing process we use, so colors translate accurately from your screen to the printed face. Include 0.25 in bleed on all sides and keep text and logos at least 0.5 in inside the cut line.
- Artwork setup
- Worth knowing: on textured surfaces like brick and stucco, bold simple designs hold better than fine detail. Texture gaps between the adhesive face and the wall can soften thin lines and small text. Use a minimum 1 in letter height for text that needs to read from 6 ft. For die-cut decals, submit artwork on a transparent background so we trim around the exact design edge.
Our free online design tool and professional design service are both available at checkout. Submit your artwork on a transparent background for die-cut decals and our team sends you a free digital proof within 24 hours.

Care instructions
Product care
- Wipe the decal surface with mild soap and water using a soft cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or pressure washers aimed directly at the decal edges. High-pressure water contact at the perimeter is the most common cause of early edge lifting on exterior installations.
- On brick and stucco, dirt collects in texture gaps around the decal edges. Brush gently with a soft-bristle brush and rinse with low-pressure water to clear debris without disturbing the bond. Inspect the edges quarterly. If a corner starts to lift, press it back firmly with your palm for 30 seconds. For removal, use a heat gun on low to soften the adhesive, then peel slowly from one corner at a 45-degree angle. Adhesive residue on brick or stucco may need mineral spirits and a stiff brush to clear fully.
