4 mil PVC Calendar Film With Permanent Adhesive
4 mil white PVC calendar film forms the base of every car decal we print. It's a thin, flexible vinyl rated for outdoor use. Bonds to painted metal, glass, and plastic through a permanent adhesive that holds flat and tight on door panels, bumpers, and hoods for 3 to 5 years. No lifting at the edges. Sturdy enough for daily highway miles, yet thin enough to conform to slightly curved surfaces without cracking.
UV Printing at 720 DPI Minimum on Every Order
UV printing cures ink instantly under ultraviolet light, locking in full-color CMYK output at 720 DPI minimum across every order we run at A2Z Printing Hub. Logos stay crisp. Lettering holds its edges after years of direct sun and repeated car washes. But the real payoff is scratch resistance from day one, so the decal looks the same on month 36 as it did on day one.
Die-Cut to Any Shape, Kiss-Cut on Backing Sheet
Die-cutting trims the vinyl to the exact outline of your design rather than a standard rectangle. Your logo or graphic reads as a clean, finished shape on the car surface. Kiss-cutting (cutting through the vinyl layer only, leaving the backing sheet intact) keeps the decal easy to peel without tearing. And because the backing stays whole, you get a clean transfer every time. No guessing where the edges are.

Ideal for
Not the best fit for
Full vehicle wraps covering the entire car surface from bumper to bumper. We print decals for specific placement areas. For full coverage, a local wrap installer is the right call.
Temporary vehicle signage that goes on and off daily. Magnetic Signs attach to any steel surface with no adhesive and pull off in seconds, making them the better option for vehicles that switch between personal and business use.
Rear window graphics where the driver needs to see through the decal from inside. Custom Car Window Decals in perforated vinyl give you one-way visibility with branding on the outside.
How to choose
Use these buying points to choose the right Custom Car Decals configuration.
-
Placement Determines Your Starting Size
Measure the surface before you enter a custom size in the configurator. Door panels on most sedans and SUVs run roughly 12 to 18 in tall and 18 to 24 in wide. Rear windows typically span 24 to 36 in across. Bumpers sit closer to eye level for passing traffic, so keep text large enough to read from about 20 ft away. Enter your measured dimensions and the configurator prices your exact size.
-
Business Branding Versus Personal Customization
Here's the thing: these two approaches need different design strategies, not different materials. Both use the same 4 mil PVC calendar film. But a business decal works best with a clean logo, one phone number or URL, and high contrast between text and background so the message reads clearly from a distance. Personal graphics can fill the entire design area with photos, gradients, or detailed artwork since viewers get close enough to appreciate the detail. Upload your file on a transparent background and we cut around the exact shape either way.
-
Single Vehicle Versus Fleet Order
A single-vehicle order ships in 1 to 2 business days after proof approval. Fleet orders covering 10 or more vehicles may add 1 to 2 production days. Place your fleet order with all vehicle measurements at once so every decal ships together. Your crew applies them in a single session and your brand stays consistent across every car in the lot.
-
Standard White PVC Versus Reflective Material
Standard 4 mil white PVC handles daytime visibility on any car surface. But if your vehicle runs routes at night and you want the decal to catch oncoming headlights, standard vinyl will not do that job. Choose our Reflective Car Decals instead. Reflective vinyl bounces light back toward its source, keeping the decal visible after dark without any power source.
Pair it with
The Removable Alternative
Some vehicles split time between personal and business use daily. Magnetic Signs attach to any steel car surface with no adhesive, pull off in seconds, and leave zero residue on paint. That makes them the right call when you can't commit to a permanent decal.
Brand Every Surface in One Order
Door, bumper, and rear window placements all use the same 4 mil PVC material. Ordering them together means one proof review, one production run, and one shipment.
Night-Visibility Upgrade
Standard white PVC reads well in daylight. But if your vehicle is on the road after dark, reflective vinyl bounces headlights back toward the source so the decal stays visible without any power source.
Different Vehicle, Same Material
Pickup trucks and commercial vehicles follow the same die-cut process on the same 4 mil PVC. Size templates are built for wider hoods and tailgate panels, so placement lines up correctly on the first try.
FAQs
Will Removing the Decal Damage My Car's Paint?
Permanent adhesive bonds firmly, but it is not permanent in the sense that you're stuck with it forever. Use a heat gun on a low setting and peel slowly from one corner. On factory paint finishes, this process leaves no paint damage. Any adhesive residue that stays on the surface cleans off with rubbing alcohol or Goo Gone. That said, wait at least 30 days after a fresh repaint before applying any decal.
How Long Do Custom Car Decals Actually Last on a Vehicle Driven Daily?
The 4 mil white PVC calendar film carries an outdoor rating of 3 to 5 years. UV printing cures ink under ultraviolet light, locking in color so it resists fading through direct sun, rain, and regular car wash cycles. Daily highway driving does not shorten that lifespan in our experience. Colors stay sharp as long as you avoid abrasive cleaners on the decal face.
Can I Apply a Decal Myself Without Getting Bubbles or Crooked Edges?
Yes, and most buyers do it without help. Kiss-cutting (cutting through the vinyl only, leaving the backing sheet intact) keeps the decal flat and easy to peel cleanly. Start from one edge, align carefully, and press from the center outward with a squeegee or a flat card. We include application instructions with every order so you're not guessing.
Will the Decal Survive an Automatic Car Wash After I Apply It?
Wait 72 hours after application before any washing. The permanent adhesive needs that full cure window to bond tightly to painted metal, glass, or plastic. For the first 2 weeks, hand wash around the decal and avoid directing high-pressure spray at the edges. After 2 weeks, normal automatic car wash use is fine.
Do I See the Exact Shape and Color Before You Print My Order?
Every order includes a free digital proof showing your exact cut shape, size, and color output at 720 DPI minimum. Nothing goes to press without your approval. And if our team spots a resolution issue or a missing bleed during the file review, we flag it before production starts.
Get your artwork right
We accept PDF, PNG, JPG, and AI files. AI (vector format) is the preferred choice for logos because vector art scales to any size without losing edge sharpness.
For die-cut shapes, upload your artwork on a transparent background. We cut around the exact design outline. Worth knowing: a solid white background tells our system to cut a rectangle, not your logo shape.
- Resolution
- 150 DPI minimum, 300 DPI recommended for any decal under 4 ft in any dimension. Below 300 DPI at smaller sizes, text edges can look soft on the finished vinyl.
- Bleed
- 0.25 in on all sides. This extra border keeps color from stopping short of the cut line.
- Safe zone
- Keep all text and logos at least 0.5 in from the cut edge so nothing gets trimmed.
- Color mode
- CMYK, not RGB. CMYK is the 4-color process (cyan, magenta, yellow, black) our presses actually use, so your colors print closer to what you see on screen. RGB files can shift during conversion.
Not ready to upload a file? Our free online design tool lets you build a decal from scratch. A professional design service is also available at checkout if you'd rather hand it off.

Care instructions
Product care
- Wait 72 hours after applying the decal before washing the vehicle. The permanent adhesive needs this full cure period to bond tightly to painted metal, glass, or plastic. For the first 2 weeks, hand wash around the decal area and don't direct high-pressure spray at the edges. After 2 weeks, normal automatic car wash use is fine.
- Clean the decal face with mild soap and water. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvent-based products, or wax directly on the matte surface, as these can dull the finish or lift the edges over time. To remove the decal, use a heat gun on low and peel slowly from one corner. Any adhesive residue left behind cleans off with rubbing alcohol or Goo Gone without damaging factory paint.
