How to orderSpecifications
Custom Vehicle Window Decals run on 4 mil white PVC calendar film with a matte finish and permanent adhesive rated for glass surfaces. UV printing at 720 DPI minimum gives colors that stay sharp through rain, car washes, and direct sun. These decals work best for small business branding on door glass, rear window logos, and fleet identification.
- Material
- 4 mil white PVC calendar film. Matte finish. PVC calendar film is a thin, flexible vinyl that conforms to flat and slightly curved glass without cracking or bubbling.
- Print Method
- UV printed. Ink cures instantly under ultraviolet light, giving you a waterproof, scratch-resistant surface that holds color outdoors.
- Color Output
- CMYK full color at 720 DPI minimum. CMYK (cyan, magenta, yellow, black) reproduces your full-color logo accurately on the matte vinyl surface.
- Finishing
- Die-cut to custom shape. Kiss-cut on backing sheet so the decal peels cleanly without tearing.
- Size Range
- Custom sizes up to 58.5 in wide. Sizes over 58.5 in ship in multiple pieces with alignment guides for joining on the glass.
- Indoor/Outdoor Rating
- Outdoor rated 3 to 5 years. Water resistant, scratch resistant, and UV stable under daily sun exposure on any vehicle.
- Single/Double-Sided
- Single-sided. Adhesive back bonds to glass. Printed face shows outward, readable from outside the vehicle.
- Adhesive
- Permanent adhesive. Bonds firmly to clean glass. Removable with a heat gun and slow peeling, leaving no residue on factory glass surfaces.

4 Mil White PVC Calendar Film With Permanent Glass Adhesive
4 mil white PVC calendar film bonds to vehicle windows with permanent adhesive that holds through car washes, rain, and road vibration for 3 to 5 years without lifting at the edges. It's a thin, flexible vinyl rated for outdoor glass surfaces. Four mils is thick enough to resist road grime and daily flex but thin enough to conform to flat and slightly curved glass without bubbling. Permanent adhesive rated for glass. No peeling mid-season.
A2Z Printing Hub uses this same glass-rated adhesive across every window decal we produce, so your logo stays flat against the door glass from the first week through year three.
UV Printing at 720 DPI Minimum on a Matte Finish Surface
UV printing cures ink instantly under ultraviolet light, locking color into a scratch-resistant, waterproof surface at 720 DPI minimum. That resolution keeps your logo legible on rear glass even after months of direct sun. Bold text. Crisp edges. And the matte finish cuts surface glare so your design reads clearly in daylight photos and at stoplights.
Color accuracy stays consistent across every decal in a fleet order because UV ink does not shift between print runs the way solvent inks can.
Die-Cut to Any Shape, Kiss-Cut on Backing Sheet
Die-cutting trims the vinyl to the exact outline of your design rather than a standard rectangle. A circular logo ships as a circle, and a custom shape ships as that shape. Kiss-cutting cuts through the vinyl layer only, leaving the backing sheet intact, so you peel and apply the decal cleanly without tearing. No scissors, no trimming on your end.
Sizes reach up to 58.5 in wide in a single piece, covering rear glass on most vans and trucks without a seam.

Ideal for
Not the best fit for
Full vehicle wraps covering the entire car surface are outside what we produce. We print decals for specific glass areas, not full-coverage wraps. A local wrap installer is the right call for that job.
Vehicles that switch between personal and business use daily need something removable. Permanent adhesive is not built for repeated removal. Magnetic Signs attach and detach in seconds with no adhesive and no residue.
Rear windows where the driver needs to see through the glass need a different material. Perforated Window Decals (available under Window Decals) let you brand the outside while keeping visibility from inside.
How to choose
Use these buying points to choose the right Custom Vehicle Window Decals configuration.
-
Permanent Decal vs. Removable Magnetic Sign
Here's the thing: permanent adhesive on 4 mil PVC calendar film is the right call for any vehicle dedicated full time to business use. It bonds to clean glass and holds through daily driving, rain, and car washes for 3 to 5 years without lifting. But if your vehicle splits time between business and personal use, a window decal is not the right fit. Go with Magnetic Signs instead. They attach to the door or hood in seconds and pull off just as fast, leaving zero residue.
-
Standard Opaque Decal vs. Perforated Window Decal
Placement on the vehicle determines your material. Door glass and side windows do not affect driver visibility, so the standard white PVC decal works on those panels without any trade-off. For the rear window on a car or SUV, check whether you rely on direct rear sightlines. If you do, choose Perforated Window Decals (available under Window Decals). They show your brand on the outside while keeping roughly 30% of the glass open for visibility from inside.
-
Sizing Your Decal for the Glass Panel and Viewing Distance
-
Rear Window on Passenger Cars and Sedans
Most passenger car rear windows fit a decal in the 12 to 18 in wide range comfortably. Traffic behind you reads that size clearly at roughly 20 to 25 ft. Enter your glass width in the configurator and leave at least 1 in of clear glass on each side so the decal does not crowd the defroster lines.
-
Larger Vans, Trucks, and SUVs
Rear glass on full-size vans and trucks can carry a 36 to 48 in wide decal without crowding the panel. A wider decal reads at greater distance and gives fleet vehicles a consistent, bold look across every unit in the group.
-
Single Vehicle vs. Fleet Order
Single-vehicle orders ship in 1 to 2 business days after proof approval. Fleet orders of 10 or more vehicles may add 1 to 2 production days. Place your fleet order with all glass measurements at once so every decal ships together. Your team applies them in a single session, keeping placement and sizing consistent across every vehicle.
Pair it with
Switch Between Personal and Business Use
Window decals use permanent adhesive, so they're built for vehicles dedicated to business full time. If your vehicle doubles as a personal car on weekends, Magnetic Signs attach and detach in seconds with no adhesive at all.
Brand Every Panel in One Order
Your rear window decal is one piece of a larger vehicle identity. Ordering across placements keeps your logo size and color consistent from front to back.
Keep Rear Visibility on Cars and SUVs
A standard opaque decal works on side and door glass. For the rear window, perforated vinyl lets you brand the outside without blocking the view from inside.
Tie the Fleet to a Fixed Location
Your company trucks carry the logo on the road. Match that same identity at the shop or storefront so customers recognize it whether they follow the truck or walk through the door.
FAQs
Will the Permanent Adhesive Leave Residue or Damage My Vehicle Glass?
No, it will not damage factory glass under normal removal. Apply low heat from a heat gun or hair dryer to soften the adhesive, then peel slowly from one corner. Any remaining adhesive on the glass wipes clean with rubbing alcohol. Aftermarket or newly tinted glass (under 30 days old) may react differently, so wait at least 30 days after any tint installation before applying.
How Long Will a Window Decal Hold Up Through Car Washes and Daily Driving?
UV printing at 720 DPI minimum cures ink directly into the vinyl surface, making it waterproof and scratch resistant. Under normal daily driving and regular automatic car washes, the decal holds its color and adhesion for 3 to 5 years. Wait 72 hours after application before the first wash, and avoid high-pressure spray aimed at the decal edges for the first 2 weeks.
Can I Apply the Decal Myself Without Getting Bubbles?
Yes. Every order ships with the decal kiss-cut on a backing sheet plus written application instructions. Start from the center of the decal and work a squeegee outward toward the edges to push air out as you go. Decals under 24 in wide are straightforward for one person. Anything wider goes easier with a second set of hands holding the opposite edge flat while you squeegee.
Will Colors Fade After Months in Direct Sun?
UV-cured inks bond into the 4 mil PVC surface rather than sitting on top of it. They resist fading under direct sun for the full 3 to 5 year outdoor rating. The matte finish also reduces surface heat absorption compared to gloss, which helps the adhesive maintain its grip on glass through summer temperatures.
Do Custom Vehicle Window Decals Work on Tinted Glass?
Yes, the permanent adhesive bonds to factory-tinted glass the same way it bonds to clear glass. The matte white PVC surface prints in full-color CMYK, so your design reads clearly from outside regardless of the tint level on the interior side. Aftermarket tint films with textured or treated surfaces may reduce adhesion, so clean the glass thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol before application.
Get your artwork right
We accept PDF, PNG, JPG, and AI files. AI (vector) is the best choice for logos because vector art scales to any size without losing edge sharpness on the die-cut outline.
- Resolution
- 150 DPI minimum, 300 DPI recommended for decals under 24 in wide. Anything softer than 150 DPI prints with a fuzzy edge that shows up most on fine lettering.
- Bleed
- 0.25 in on all sides. Bleed (extra artwork that extends past the cut line) prevents white slivers from appearing at the decal edge after trimming.
- Safe zone
- Keep text and logos at least 0.5 in from the cut edge so nothing important gets clipped.
- Color mode
- CMYK, not RGB. CMYK is the 4-color process our UV press uses, so colors match your screen output accurately on the matte vinyl surface. RGB files can shift in hue after conversion.

Care instructions
Product care
- Wait 72 hours after applying the decal before running the vehicle through a car wash. The adhesive needs that time to cure fully against the glass surface. For the first 2 weeks, hand wash around the decal area and keep high-pressure spray off the edges.
- After 2 weeks, normal automatic car wash use is fine. Clean the decal face with mild soap and water. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvent-based products, or wax applied directly on the matte surface, as these can dull the finish.
- To remove the decal, apply low heat from a heat gun or hair dryer to soften the adhesive, then peel slowly from one corner. Any adhesive residue left on the glass wipes off cleanly with rubbing alcohol.
