4 Mil White PVC Calendar Film With Permanent Adhesive

PVC calendar film runs 4 mil thick on every decal we print. It's a thin, flexible vinyl sheet rated for flat and slightly curved glass surfaces. That's roughly the face layer of a standard credit card: sturdy enough to resist tearing during application, thin enough to lie flat against glass without visible edge buildup. The permanent adhesive bonds firmly to clean glass and holds without lifting for 3 to 5 years outdoors, so your storefront identification does not need seasonal replacement.

UV Printing at 720 DPI Minimum on a Matte Finish Surface

UV printing cures ink instantly under ultraviolet light, locking color into a scratch-resistant, waterproof surface from the moment it leaves the press. We run every window decal at 720 DPI minimum, which keeps text crisp and logos bold at any size up to 58.5 in wide. Rain, direct sun, and daily glass cleaning do not break down the surface. Sharp colors. Readable from the sidewalk, year after year.

Die-Cut to Any Shape, Kiss-Cut on Backing Sheet

Die-cut finishing cuts the vinyl to the exact outline of your design rather than a standard rectangle. Your logo or custom shape arrives as a clean silhouette with no wasted material around the edges. Kiss-cutting (cutting through the vinyl layer only, leaving the paper backing sheet intact) means each decal peels cleanly without tearing or stretching before it touches the glass. And because the backing stays whole, even complex shapes apply without misalignment.

Ideal for

Retail storefronts printing business name, logo, phone number, and hours on entrance glass where the graphic needs to stay put for multiple years.
Restaurants adding bold menu highlights or delivery app logos to front-door glass panels at sizes up to 58.5 in wide.
Salons and clinics placing permanent window identification with service lists and contact details on street-facing glass that gets direct sun daily.
Office buildings adding suite numbers, company logos, and compliance signage to lobby glass or entry doors.
Retail windows running seasonal sale graphics that hold through a full 3 to 4 month promotion without peeling or color shift.
Service businesses like insurance agencies and tax preparers displaying regulatory or licensing disclosures on storefront glass as local codes require.
Gyms and fitness studios covering lower window panels with bold logo graphics that block street-level sightlines while keeping upper glass open for light.

Not the best fit for

Vehicle body panels, hoods, bumpers, or doors need a paint-rated adhesive and contour-conforming material. [Vehicle Decals] are the right choice for those surfaces.

Interior painted walls or textured surfaces won't bond correctly with glass-specific adhesive. [Wall Decals] use a formulation built for painted drywall.

Temporary window promotions changed monthly or more often call for residue-free removal. [Window Clings] hold without adhesive and come off cleanly every time.

How to choose

Use these buying points to choose the right Custom Vinyl Window Decals configuration.

  1. Permanent Storefront Branding Versus Temporary Seasonal Graphics

Here's the thing: the adhesive type is the first call. Custom vinyl window decals carry a permanent adhesive that bonds to glass and holds for 3 to 5 years outdoors without lifting. That's the right call for business hours, logos, compliance signage, or any identification you don't plan to swap out. But if you rotate graphics monthly or quarterly, permanent adhesive is not the right fit. Window Clings hold through surface tension alone and remove without residue every time.

  2. Opaque Background Versus See-Through Window Coverage

Custom vinyl window decals print on 4 mil white PVC calendar film, which means the backing is solid white. Every part of the decal blocks light through that area completely, giving you a bold, readable image from the sidewalk. If customers inside need to see out through the graphic area, this material cannot do that. Go with Perforated Window Decals instead, which use 70/30 perforation (70% print area, 30% open holes) so the outside sees a full-color graphic and the inside keeps outward visibility.

  3. Standard Rectangle Shape Versus Custom Die-Cut Outline

Most layouts fit a rectangle just fine. Select a standard shape in the configurator and your order stays simple. Got a logo with a complex outline? Upload artwork on a transparent background and we die-cut the vinyl to match the exact design edge, with kiss-cut backing keeping the decal intact so it peels cleanly.

  4. Inside Mount Versus Outside Mount on the Glass

  5. Outside Mount

Outside mount works for any window size and is the most common setup for storefront glass. The printed face sits on the exterior, readable from the street. The decal is exposed to weather, but UV-cured ink on 4 mil PVC holds up through rain and direct sun for 3 to 5 years.

  6. Inside Mount

Inside mount (applying the decal to the interior glass surface so the printed face points outward) protects the vinyl from abrasion and direct rain contact. That typically pushes the usable lifespan beyond the standard 3 to 5 year outdoor rating. Specify your mount preference at checkout so we orient the die-cut correctly.

Pair it with

The Removable Alternative

Vinyl window decals bond permanently, which is right for branding that stays for years. But if you swap window graphics seasonally or monthly, Window Clings hold to glass through surface tension alone and come off without residue every time.

See-Through Coverage for the Same Glass

Your vinyl window decal uses an opaque white backing that blocks light through the graphic area. Two products give you full-window coverage while keeping interior visibility open.

Finish the Door and Entry Points

Storefront windows carry your main branding. Door Decals are sized for standard commercial door panels and handle the details: suite number, hours, compliance text, and logo at eye level where customers reach for the handle.

Extend the Storefront Display Beyond the Glass

Window decals anchor the glass. These products carry the same message from the curb to the entrance, completing the full storefront brand presence that starts at your window.

FAQs

Will the Adhesive Leave Residue or Damage My Glass When I Remove the Decal?

The permanent adhesive on 4 mil PVC bonds firmly to glass but does not damage the surface on removal. Apply low heat from a heat gun or hair dryer to soften the bond, then peel slowly from one corner. Any adhesive residue left on the glass cleans off with rubbing alcohol or Goo Gone. The glass itself is not affected.

How Long Will Custom Vinyl Window Decals Actually Last on a South-Facing Storefront Window?

UV-cured ink on 4 mil white PVC calendar film is outdoor rated for 3 to 5 years under normal conditions. A south-facing window takes direct sun most of the day, which sits at the harder end of that range. Inside mount (applying to the interior glass surface facing outward) removes direct UV and rain contact, which typically extends that lifespan further. Colors stay readable and the adhesive stays bonded throughout that period without reapplication.

Can I Apply a Large Window Decal Myself Without Getting Bubbles or Misalignment?

Yes. Clean the glass with rubbing alcohol and let it dry completely before you start. Any oil or dust under the vinyl traps air and causes edge lifting within the first few weeks. Peel the kiss-cut backing slowly, position the decal, and press from the center outward with a squeegee or a flat card. Orders wider than 58.5 in ship in multiple panels with alignment guides included so you can seam them correctly on the glass.

Do I Get to See the Exact Shape and Color Before You Print Anything?

Every order includes a free digital proof showing the exact die-cut shape, size, and color output. We send it within 24 hours of receiving your file. Production does not start until you approve. That proof is your check on color accuracy, cut line placement, and overall layout before a single decal prints.

What Happens If My Window Is Wider Than 58.5 In and I Need Full Coverage?

Orders wider than 58.5 in ship in multiple panels. Each panel includes alignment guides for manual seaming on the glass surface. The seam is visible up close but reads as a continuous graphic from sidewalk distance. Enter your total window dimensions in the configurator and we calculate the panel count automatically.

Get your artwork right

Resolution determines how sharp your text and logo look at final size. We accept PDF, PNG, JPG, and AI files. AI (Adobe Illustrator vector) is the best choice for logos because vector art scales to any size without losing edge clarity.

We accept PDF PNG JPG AI
Resolution
Set your file to a minimum 150 DPI at final print size. We recommend 300 DPI for anything under 3 ft wide, because that's the range where customers get close enough to spot a soft edge on thin letterforms. Color mode must be CMYK (cyan, magenta, yellow, black) before you export. RGB files look different on screen than they print, and the shift shows up most in reds and oranges.
Bleed
Include 0.25 in of bleed (extra artwork beyond the cut line on all four sides) and keep all text and logos at least 0.5 in inside the cut edge. For die-cut decals, supply your artwork on a transparent background so we cut to the exact design outline.

Not ready to upload a finished file? Use our free online design tool to build your layout, or add our professional design service at checkout. Submit your artwork on a transparent background for die-cut decals and our team sends you a free digital proof within 24 hours.

Care instructions

Product care

  • Clean the glass with rubbing alcohol and let it dry completely before applying your decal. Any dust or oil trapped under the vinyl causes edge lifting within the first few weeks. After the decal is on, clean the surface with mild soap and water only. Do not use ammonia-based glass cleaners directly on the vinyl because ammonia breaks down the adhesive bond over time.
  • Avoid abrasive scrubbers or razor blades on the decal face. The UV-cured surface resists normal scratching, but sharp tools cut through 4 mil film. To remove the decal, apply low heat from a heat gun or hair dryer to soften the adhesive, then peel slowly from one corner. Remaining adhesive residue cleans off with rubbing alcohol or Goo Gone.
