How to orderSpecifications
Custom Windshield Decals are die-cut from 4 mil white PVC calendar film and UV printed in full color at 720 DPI minimum. They fit any windshield up to 58.5 in wide and bond with permanent adhesive rated for outdoor use. Here's the thing: the matte finish and outdoor-rated adhesive together make these the right call for permit decals, fleet ID stickers, and small business branding on vehicle glass.

4 Mil PVC Calendar Film With Matte Finish
4 mil white PVC calendar film forms the base of every windshield decal we cut. It's a thin but sturdy vinyl rated for outdoor use. Matte finish cuts glare on glass, so your logo reads clearly from outside the vehicle without bouncing light back at the driver. That detail matters most on front windshields where direct sun hits the glass at low angles.
UV Printing at 720 DPI Minimum for Crisp Color
UV printing (a process where ink cures instantly under ultraviolet light) locks color into the surface at 720 DPI minimum. The result: sharp text and bold graphics that hold up through rain, road debris, and direct sun for 3 to 5 years without fading. And because the ink bonds to the surface rather than soaking in, the face stays scratch-resistant through normal car wash cycles. A2Z Printing Hub runs this process on every order, no exceptions.
Die-Cut to Any Shape With Kiss-Cut Backing
Die-cut finishing cuts to the exact outline of your design rather than a standard rectangle. It pairs with kiss-cut backing, which cuts through the vinyl only, leaving the sheet intact for clean, fast application. Peel the decal from the backing. Place it once. No repositioning needed. Sizes run up to 58.5 in wide, covering everything from a small permit decal to a full-width windshield banner strip.

Ideal for
Not the best fit for
Full vehicle wraps covering the entire car surface fall outside what we do here. We cut decals for specific areas. For full coverage, a local wrap installer is the right call.
Temporary signage that needs daily removal is not what permanent adhesive is built for. Magnetic Signs are the removable alternative and attach to any metal surface without adhesive.
One-way see-through graphics on the rear window, where the driver needs visibility through the decal, are a different product entirely. Perforated Window Decals handle that use case.
How to choose
Use these buying points to choose the right Custom Windshield Decals configuration.
-
Windshield Placement Versus Other Vehicle Glass Locations
Your decal goes on the front glass, facing forward. That placement is different from a side window or rear glass in one key way: viewers see it head-on from outside the vehicle, not at an angle. Confirm you want the windshield before entering a size. For side windows or the rear glass, Custom Vehicle Window Decals and Custom Rear Window Decals give you placement-specific size templates that account for different glass dimensions.
-
Permanent Branding Versus Temporary or Rotating Signage
Here's the thing: permanent adhesive on 4 mil PVC holds for 3 to 5 years through daily driving, rain, and car washes. But it is not designed for daily removal. If you swap your vehicle between personal and work use and do not want a fixed decal, Magnetic Signs are the right call. They attach to any metal surface without adhesive and pull off in seconds. Permanent windshield decals are for branding that stays put.
-
Single Vehicle Order Versus Fleet Bulk Order
Single vehicle orders ship in 1 to 2 business days after proof approval. Fleet orders of 10 or more vehicles typically add 1 to 2 production days. Order one proof decal first, apply it to the actual windshield, and confirm the size and placement before reordering the full fleet quantity. That step alone prevents a costly sizing error across 20 or 30 vehicles.
-
Standard Shape Versus Fully Custom Die-Cut Shape
Rectangle and oval shapes cost the same as fully custom die-cut shapes here. And if your logo has a complex outline, uploading it on a transparent background lets us cut around the exact edges. Simple text-only decals (a phone number, a permit number, a web address) apply faster as rectangles and read just as clearly from the curb.
Pair it with
Complete the Vehicle From Front to Back
Your windshield decal covers the front glass. Custom Vehicle Door Decals put your logo on the largest flat panel of the vehicle, visible from the sidewalk at roughly 10 to 15 ft. Add Custom Bumper Decals with a phone number or web address at eye level for drivers directly behind you. Those three placements together brand the front, sides, and rear without gaps.
The Removable Alternative for Dual-Use Vehicles
Permanent adhesive is not built for daily removal. Magnetic Signs attach to any metal surface, come off in seconds, and leave zero residue. No heat gun needed.
Other Glass Placements for Your Fleet
Your fleet may include vehicles where the rear glass or side windows need branding too. Custom Vehicle Window Decals and Custom Car Windshield Decals follow the same 4 mil PVC material and UV print process, with vehicle-specific size templates. Same material, different placement.
Match Your Vehicle to Your Storefront
Custom Signs use the same CMYK process, keeping your brand color consistent from the road to your front door. One color standard across every surface.
FAQs
Will a Permanent Adhesive Decal Damage My Windshield Glass When Removed?
No damage to factory glass, as long as you remove it correctly. Apply low heat from a heat gun or hair dryer to soften the adhesive, then peel slowly from one corner. Any remaining adhesive residue cleans off glass with rubbing alcohol. The permanent adhesive bonds firmly to the surface during use but does not etch or pit the glass underneath.
Can I Run My Vehicle Through an Automatic Car Wash After Applying a Windshield Decal?
Wait 72 hours after application before any car wash. The adhesive needs that window to fully bond to the glass. For the first 2 weeks, hand wash around the decal area and avoid directing high-pressure spray at the edges. After 2 weeks, normal automatic car wash use is fine.
How Do I Apply a Windshield Decal Without Trapping Air Bubbles Under the Surface?
Clean the glass thoroughly before you start. Peel the kiss-cut backing slowly, position the decal, then press from the center outward using the squeegee we include with every order. Small bubbles near the edges usually work themselves out within 48 hours in the sun. Larger bubbles mean the glass had dust or moisture under the decal at application.
Will the Matte Finish Make the Decal Hard to See From Outside the Vehicle?
The matte finish actually helps readability on glass. It cuts the glare that a glossy surface reflects back at viewers in direct sunlight. Your logo and text read clearly from outside because there is no light bounce competing with the printed face. Bright sun is where the matte finish earns its place on windshield glass.
Do Custom Windshield Decals Hold Up in Extreme Heat?
UV-printed 4 mil PVC holds color and adhesion outdoors for 3 to 5 years, including in vehicles parked in direct sun. The UV curing process locks ink into the surface so heat does not cause peeling or color shift under normal conditions. That said, we do recommend a 72-hour cure period after application before exposing the decal to sustained heat above 120°F.
Get your artwork right
- Accepted file formats
- PDF, PNG, JPG, AI. Vector files (AI or PDF) are best for logos because they scale to any size without losing edge sharpness.
- Resolution
- 150 DPI minimum. For any decal under 2 ft in its shortest dimension, 300 DPI is the right call. Viewers get close enough to a windshield decal to spot a soft edge, and 150 DPI shows it.
- Color mode
- Set your file to CMYK before uploading. RGB converts on our end, but color shift is possible. CMYK matches our UV print process directly, so what you see on screen is what comes off the press.
- Bleed and safe zone
- Include 0.25 in bleed on all sides. Keep text and logos at least 0.5 in from the cut edge so nothing gets clipped in the die-cut process.
- Die-cut decals
- Place your artwork on a transparent background. We cut around the exact design edges as uploaded.
Not sure where to start? Our free online design tool walks you through layout, and a professional design service is available at checkout. Submit your artwork on a transparent background for die-cut decals and our team sends you a free digital proof within 24 hours.

Care instructions
Product care
- Wait 72 hours after applying your windshield decal before running the vehicle through any car wash. The adhesive needs that full window to bond completely to the glass surface.
- For the first 2 weeks, hand wash around the decal and avoid directing high-pressure spray at the edges. After 2 weeks, normal automatic car wash use is fine. Clean the decal face with mild soap and water only. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvent-based products, or wax directly on the printed surface.
- To remove the decal, apply low heat from a heat gun or hair dryer and peel slowly from one corner. Rubbing alcohol clears any remaining adhesive residue from the glass without scratching.
