Custom Floor Decals - FAQ
It meets UL 410, the recognized slip-resistance standard for floor graphics used in hospitals, airports, and retail chains nationwide. Every floor decal we ship includes the 7 mil anti-slip laminate overlay rated to this standard. That is not a self-issued rating. UL 410 is a third-party certification your safety officer, facilities manager, or insurance carrier can verify independently.
On properly sealed tile, polished concrete, hardwood, and laminate, the adhesive releases cleanly when you peel slowly from one corner at a low angle. A heat gun on low setting helps on cold floors or after installs longer than 8 months. Unsealed or porous floors like raw concrete may retain adhesive on removal. Always apply to sealed surfaces only.
No. The permanent adhesive needs a smooth, sealed hard surface to bond flat and stay safe underfoot. On carpet or rubber, the adhesive won't grip evenly and the decal becomes a trip hazard rather than a safety solution. For carpeted areas, Retractable Banner Stands or A-Frame Signs work without adhesive and reposition easily.
Inspect edges weekly in any high-traffic area. A corner that starts lifting is your first signal. Press it back immediately with firm hand pressure. Once the laminate shows visible scuffing across more than roughly 20 percent of the face, or edges lift and won't re-seat, replace the decal. Don't wait for a full peel.
The 7 mil anti-slip laminate handles daily wet mopping without lifting, losing grip, or letting water under the edges. Worth knowing: do not apply floor wax, polish, or floor finish directly on the decal surface. Wax reduces the laminate's grip and can make the textured surface slick under foot traffic. Standard mop water and mild cleaning solution are fine.
