4 Mil PVC Calendar Film With Permanent Adhesive
4 mil white PVC calendar film forms the base of every car decal we print. It's a thin but sturdy vinyl sheet rated for outdoor use. It conforms to flat and slightly curved surfaces without lifting at the edges. Painted metal, glass, and plastic all bond cleanly to the permanent adhesive backing, so your decal stays tight against door panels and bumpers through rain, heat, and road debris. Sharp edges. No peeling corners.
And because the film runs matte, you get color that reads clearly without surface glare bouncing back at passing drivers.
UV Printing at 720 DPI Minimum for Crisp, Lasting Color
UV printing (a process where ink cures instantly under ultraviolet light) locks color into the surface at 720 DPI minimum. That cure creates a scratch-resistant, waterproof layer that holds bold graphics and crisp text through direct sun for 3 to 5 years. A2Z Printing Hub runs every order through this process, so color accuracy and durability are not variables. Print quality is the full story here.
Die-Cut to Any Shape Up to 58.5 in Wide
Die-cutting lets you match any logo shape or custom graphic on any panel. We cut the vinyl to the exact outline of your design, not a standard rectangle. Kiss-cutting (cutting through the vinyl only, leaving the backing sheet intact) keeps the decal easy to peel and apply without tearing. Sizes reach up to 58.5 in wide in a single piece. Orders wider than 58.5 in ship in multiple pieces with alignment markings.

Ideal for
Not the best fit for
Full vehicle wraps covering hood to trunk. We cut decals for specific placement areas only. For full-coverage wraps, a local wrap installer is the right call.
Temporary vehicle signage you need to remove daily. Magnetic Signs attach to the same door panels with zero adhesive. They pull off in seconds, making them the right pick for cars that switch between business and personal use on the same day.
Rear window graphics where the driver needs to see through from inside. Custom Car Window Decals with perforated vinyl give you outside branding with inside visibility intact.
How to choose
Use these buying points to choose the right Custom Vinyl Car Decals configuration.
-
Placement on the Car Determines Your Size and Shape
Door panels give you the largest flat surface on most cars. A logo placement typically fits between 8 to 14 in tall and 10 to 20 in wide on a standard door. Bumpers run narrower, so phone numbers and short URLs work better there than full logos. Start with your door panel dimensions in the configurator and let the size guide your layout, not the other way around.
-
Business Branding Versus Personal Customization Changes Your Quantity
Fleet orders of 5 or more cars qualify for volume pricing. Order all vehicles in one batch so every door decal matches in size, color, and placement across the full fleet. Personal customization, like name lettering or a single graphic panel, usually means one or two decals ordered once. But fleet managers get the most value by uploading one file and applying it consistently across every vehicle in the order.
-
Permanent Decal Versus Daily-Removal Need Changes Your Product Type
Here's the thing: permanent adhesive is a long-term commitment. It bonds to painted metal and glass firmly enough to last 3 to 5 years outdoors. If your car doubles as a personal vehicle and you need to pull the branding off on weekends, Magnetic Signs are the right call. They attach to the same door panel areas as adhesive decals and come off in seconds without any adhesive contact.
-
Visibility at Night May Call for Reflective Material
Standard 4 mil PVC does not reflect light. It reads clearly in daylight and under artificial lighting, but it will not catch headlights in a dark parking lot. For decals on cars parked overnight in low-light areas or driven regularly after dark, Custom Reflective Car Decals use a reflective surface that bounces light back toward its source. Same die-cut process, different material.

When You Need to Remove Branding Daily
Permanent adhesive is a long-term commitment. Magnetic Signs attach to the same door panel area and pull off in seconds. No adhesive contact, no heat gun needed. Right call for any car that runs business trips and personal errands on the same day.
For Night Visibility on the Road
Standard 4 mil PVC does not reflect light. Custom Reflective Car Decals use the same base material with a reflective surface that bounces headlights back toward the driver. Solid upgrade for cars parked in low-light lots after dark.
Target a Specific Placement on Your Car
Each surface has its own size templates and viewing angle. These placement-specific pages include guides built for that exact location.
Carry the Same Branding Off the Vehicle
Your car door and your storefront should read as one operation. Custom Signs let you match the same logo, color, and layout from the road to the front door, so customers recognize both.
FAQs
Will Removing the Decal Pull Paint Off My Car Door?
Removal does not damage factory paint when you do it correctly. Apply low heat from a heat gun or hair dryer, then peel slowly from one corner. Any adhesive residue left behind cleans off with rubbing alcohol or Goo Gone. Worth knowing: aftermarket or freshly repainted surfaces (under 30 days old) may react differently, so wait at least 30 days after any repaint before applying.
How Long Do Custom Vinyl Car Decals Actually Last Through Car Washes and Sun?
UV-printed 4 mil PVC holds up 3 to 5 years outdoors under direct sun, rain, and normal automatic car wash use. The one condition: wait 72 hours after application before the first wash. That window lets the permanent adhesive fully bond to the surface. After that curing period, the decal is water-resistant and scratch-resistant for the full rated lifespan.
Can I Apply a Die-Cut Car Decal Myself Without Bubbles or Crooked Placement?
Yes, and most buyers do it solo without trouble. The kiss-cut backing sheet keeps the decal flat and aligned until you're ready to place it. Use the included application instructions: clean the surface first, position the decal, squeegee from the center outward. Decals under 3 ft wide are straightforward to apply alone. Larger pieces go on more cleanly with a second set of hands.
What Happens If My Decal Arrives Damaged or the Colors Look Wrong?
We reprint at no charge if your decals arrive damaged or the color output does not match the approved proof. That is not a conditional offer. Every order includes a free digital proof before production starts, so color and cut shape are confirmed before we print. If something goes wrong in transit or production, contact us and we send a replacement.
Are Vinyl Car Decals Waterproof Enough for Daily Driving and Rain?
The short answer is yes. UV printing cures ink directly into the vinyl surface at 720 DPI minimum, creating a waterproof, scratch-resistant finish. Rain, road spray, and car washes do not affect color or adhesion after the initial 72-hour cure. These decals are rated for outdoor use, not indoor-only display.
Get your artwork right
We accept PDF, PNG, JPG, and AI files. Vector formats like AI give you the cleanest die-cut edges on logos and text because they scale without losing sharpness. For raster files (PNG, JPG), submit at 300 DPI minimum for decals under 4 ft, where readers get close enough to spot a soft edge. The floor is 150 DPI for larger sizes viewed from a distance.
- Color mode
- Set your color mode to CMYK (a 4-color printing process using cyan, magenta, yellow, and black) before exporting. RGB files shift color unpredictably when converted at print time. Add 0.25 in of bleed on all sides and keep logos and text at least 0.5 in from the cut edge so nothing clips during die-cutting.
- Artwork setup
- For die-cut shapes, upload your artwork on a transparent background. We cut around the exact design edges. Our free online design tool includes vehicle placement templates for common car models. Need help building artwork from scratch? Our professional design service handles that before your order goes to press.
Submit your artwork on a transparent background for die-cut decals and our team sends you a free digital proof within 24 hours.

Care instructions
Product care
- Wait 72 hours after application before washing the car. The adhesive needs that window to fully bond to the painted surface. For the first 2 weeks, hand wash around the decal area and avoid high-pressure spray aimed directly at the decal edges. After 2 weeks, normal automatic car wash use is fine.
- Clean the decal face with mild soap and water. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvent-based products, or wax directly on the vinyl surface, as these break down the UV-cured ink layer over time. To remove, apply low heat from a heat gun or hair dryer and peel slowly from one corner. Any adhesive residue left on the paint cleans off with rubbing alcohol or Goo Gone.
