4 Mil White PVC With Permanent Adhesive Rated for Outdoor Use
PVC calendar film runs 4 mil thick on every car door decal we cut. It's a thin, flexible vinyl sheet that conforms to flat and slightly curved surfaces. That thickness gives the vinyl enough body to stay flat against a painted door panel without lifting at the edges. The permanent adhesive bonds to painted metal through car washes, rain, and road debris for 3 to 5 years. Sturdy material. Built to stay put.
UV Printing at 720 DPI Minimum for Sharp, Lasting Color
UV printing cures ink instantly under ultraviolet light the moment it contacts the vinyl surface. The result is a scratch-resistant, waterproof layer that locks in bold color. At 720 DPI minimum, logos read crisp from the curb and phone numbers stay legible after months of highway sun. A2Z Printing Hub runs every car door decal through this process, so color does not wash out or peel at speed.
Die-Cut to Any Shape With Kiss-Cut Backing for Easy Peeling
Die-cut finishing traces the cutter along the exact outline of your design. That removes the rectangle border that makes a decal look like a sticker on a door panel. Kiss-cut backing cuts through the vinyl layer only, leaving the backing sheet intact so you peel cleanly without tearing. Sharp edges. Clean silhouette. Your logo reads as a design choice, not an afterthought.

Ideal for
Not the best fit for
Full vehicle wraps covering the entire car from bumper to bumper fall outside what door decals do. We cut decals for specific panels. A local wrap installer is the right call for full coverage.
Temporary signage that goes on and off daily is not what permanent adhesive is built for. Magnetic Signs attach to the same door panel without adhesive and pull off in seconds.
One-way see-through graphics on windows where the driver needs outward visibility need a different product. Custom Car Window Decals with perforated vinyl handle that placement.
How to choose
Use these buying points to choose the right Custom Car Door Decals configuration.
-
Decal vs Magnetic Sign Based on How Often the Vehicle Switches Roles
Here's the thing: permanent adhesive bonds to painted metal and stays put for 3 to 5 years through car washes, road debris, and direct sun. That's exactly what you want on a dedicated work vehicle. But if your car goes from client visits on Monday to a family road trip on Saturday, a door decal is not the right fit. Magnetic Signs pull off in seconds and leave zero residue. Go with the decal only when the vehicle stays branded full-time.
-
Sizing the Decal to the Door Panel
Most front door panels on a standard sedan offer roughly 12 in of usable height and 18 in of flat width above the body crease. Keep your design inside that zone. Leave at least 1 in of clearance from the door handle and window seal so the adhesive doesn't bridge a gap and lift at the edge. Upload your artwork and the configurator maps it against those boundaries automatically.
-
Single Vehicle Order vs Fleet Bulk Order
-
Ordering for One Vehicle
Single vehicle orders ship in 1 to 2 business days after proof approval. Order a proof set first, confirm the placement on the actual door, then reorder with confidence.
-
Ordering for a Fleet of 10 or More
Fleet orders of 10 or more vehicles typically add 1 to 2 production days. Still, order a single proof set before you submit the full fleet quantity. One corrected placement saves you from reprinting 20 doors.
-
Die-Cut Shape vs Rectangle Cut for the Door Placement
A die-cut shape (where the cutter traces your exact design outline) reads as intentional on a door panel. A rectangle border around a floating logo can look like an afterthought. So if your logo has a clean outline, go die-cut. If your design is a full rectangular graphic with a solid background color, a rectangle cut works fine and costs the same.
Pair it with
The Removable Swap for Dual-Use Vehicles
Your car doubles as a personal vehicle on weekends. Permanent adhesive is not the right call for that situation. Magnetic Signs attach to the same door panel surface, pull off in seconds, and leave zero residue.
Cover the Full Vehicle Perimeter
Door decals handle the largest flat panel. But a phone number at bumper level and a logo across the rear glass complete the picture from every angle a passing driver sees.
Night Visibility Upgrade
Same 4 mil PVC base, same die-cut finish. Custom Reflective Car Decals bounce headlight back toward the source, adding visibility for vehicles that park or run after dark without changing your daytime look.
Carry the Brand Off the Vehicle
Your door graphic gets seen in traffic. Custom Signs and Window Decals bring that same logo into your storefront, so the brand reads consistently from the parking lot to the front counter.
FAQs
Will the Adhesive Pull Paint Off My Car Door When I Remove the Decal?
It will not damage factory paint finishes when you remove it correctly. Apply low heat from a heat gun or hair dryer to soften the permanent adhesive, then peel slowly from one corner. Any remaining residue wipes off with rubbing alcohol or Goo Gone. Worth knowing: if your door panel has fresh paint under 30 days old, wait before applying. New paint needs time to cure fully before adhesive bonds to it safely.
How Long Do Custom Car Door Decals Actually Last Through Car Washes and Road Conditions?
The 4 mil white PVC calendar film, UV printed at 720 DPI minimum, holds up 3 to 5 years outdoors across most US climates. Water resistance kicks in immediately after the adhesive cures. Wait 72 hours after application before running the vehicle through a wash. After that, normal automatic car wash use is fine.
Can I Apply a Car Door Decal Myself Without Getting Bubbles or Crooked Edges?
Yes, and we make it straightforward. Every order ships flat with the backing sheet intact and a squeegee included. Start at the center of the decal and work outward toward the edges in overlapping strokes. The kiss-cut backing (cut through the vinyl only, leaving the liner sheet intact) keeps the decal in one piece while you position it. For decals wider than 24 in, a second set of hands helps with alignment.
Do the Colors on Car Door Decals Fade After a Summer of Direct Sun Exposure?
UV printing cures ink instantly under ultraviolet light, locking it into the vinyl surface rather than sitting on top of it. That process is what makes the color scratch-resistant and fade-resistant under direct sun. Under normal outdoor conditions in the US, colors stay bold for 3 to 5 years. Parking in full sun daily does not change that rating.
What File Format Do I Need for a Die-Cut Car Door Decal With a Custom Shape?
Submit your artwork as a PDF, AI, PNG, or JPG file. For die-cut orders, upload on a transparent background so the cutter traces your exact design outline rather than a rectangle. Set your color mode to CMYK, minimum 150 DPI, and 300 DPI for any decal under 4 ft where viewers read it up close. Include a 0.25 in bleed on all sides and keep critical content at least 0.5 in from the cut edge.
Get your artwork right
Resolution determines how sharp your logo reads from 3 ft away on a door panel. Submit files at 300 DPI for decals under 4 ft. That's where viewers get close enough to catch a soft edge. 150 DPI is the floor for larger pieces.
- Accepted formats
- PDF, AI, PNG, JPG. Vector files (AI or PDF) are the best choice for logos because they scale to any size without losing sharpness.
- Color mode
- CMYK, not RGB. CMYK is the four-color printing process (cyan, magenta, yellow, black) that matches how our presses output color. RGB files can shift noticeably when converted, so set your file to CMYK before uploading.
- Bleed and safe zone
- Add 0.25 in of bleed on all sides. Keep text and logos at least 0.5 in from the cut edge so nothing gets clipped during die-cutting.
- Die-cut orders
- Submit artwork on a transparent background. Our cutter traces the design outline exactly. A white or colored background creates a rectangle cut instead.
Use our free online design tool with vehicle door placement templates, or add our professional design service at checkout. Submit your artwork on a transparent background for die-cut decals and our team sends you a free digital proof within 24 hours.

Care instructions
Product care
- Wait 72 hours after applying your decal before running the vehicle through a car wash. The permanent adhesive needs that time to cure fully against the door panel. For the first 2 weeks, hand wash around the decal and keep high-pressure spray off the edges.
- After 2 weeks, normal automatic car wash use is fine. Clean the decal surface with mild soap and water. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvent-based products, or wax applied directly on the decal.
- To remove, apply low heat from a heat gun or hair dryer to soften the adhesive, then peel slowly from one corner. Any remaining residue wipes off with rubbing alcohol or Goo Gone without damaging factory paint.
