How to orderSpecifications
Custom Car Window Decals run on 4 mil white PVC calendar film with a matte finish. This is the standard material for glass and window surfaces on cars, rated for 3 to 5 years of outdoor use. UV printing at 720 DPI minimum gives you crisp, waterproof color that holds up through car washes and direct sun.
- Material
- 4 mil white PVC calendar film. Matte finish. Thin but sturdy vinyl that conforms to flat glass and holds its shape in heat and cold.
- Print Method
- UV printed. Ink cures instantly under ultraviolet light for a scratch-resistant, waterproof surface that won't smear or crack under road conditions.
- Color Output
- Full-color CMYK at 720 DPI minimum. CMYK (cyan, magenta, yellow, black) gives accurate color across logos, photos, and custom graphics.
- Finishing
- Die-cut to custom shape. Kiss-cut on backing sheet so the decal peels cleanly and applies without tearing.
- Size Range
- Custom sizes up to 58.5 in wide. Orders over 58.5 in ship in multiple pieces with alignment guides included.
- Indoor/Outdoor Rating
- Rated 3 to 5 years outdoors. Water and scratch resistant. Holds up through direct sun, rain, and regular car washes. Typically lasts longer than 5 years indoors.
- Single/Double-Sided
- Single-sided only. Adhesive back bonds to glass. Printed face shows outward. Not rated for see-through or double-sided applications.
- Adhesive
- Permanent adhesive rated for glass and window surfaces. Removable with a heat gun and slow peeling. Does not leave residue on factory glass.

4 mil PVC Calendar Film With Permanent Adhesive
4 mil white PVC calendar film bonds to car glass with permanent adhesive. It's a thin but sturdy vinyl rated for outdoor use. The film holds its shape in summer heat and winter cold without lifting at the edges. Your decal sits flat and tight against the window for 3 to 5 years without peeling. Scratch resistance comes built in. At A2Z Printing Hub, every car window decal ships kiss-cut on a backing sheet so the decal peels cleanly without tearing the edges.
UV Printing at 720 DPI on Glass and Window Surfaces
UV printing at 720 DPI minimum cures ink instantly under ultraviolet light. You get a waterproof, scratch-resistant surface that holds up through automatic car washes and road debris. Colors stay bold and crisp month after month. But the real difference shows at 6 months outdoors, when lower-quality inks start cracking and UV-cured color still looks sharp. Print quality gets full treatment here. Turnaround speed, color accuracy, and fleet value get brief coverage in later sections.
Die-Cut to Any Shape Up to 58.5 in Wide
Die-cut finishing cuts the vinyl to the exact outline of your design rather than a standard rectangle. Your logo or custom shape sits cleanly on the glass with no visible border around it. Kiss-cut (meaning the backing sheet stays intact while the vinyl is cut through) keeps the decal easy to peel and apply. Sizes run up to 58.5 in wide. Orders wider than that ship in multiple pieces with alignment guides for joining on the glass surface.

Ideal for
Not the best fit for
Full vehicle wraps covering the entire car surface fall outside what we do here. We cut decals for specific glass and panel areas. A local wrap installer is the right call for full-coverage jobs.
Vehicles that swap between personal and business use daily need a removable option. Magnetic Signs attach and detach without adhesive, so there's no commitment to a single purpose.
One-way see-through graphics where the driver still needs rear visibility require a different material entirely. Perforated Window Decals (found under Window Decals) let you brand the outside while keeping visibility from the inside.
How to choose
Use these buying points to choose the right Custom Car Window Decals configuration.
-
Placement on the Car Determines the Right Size
Rear window decals typically run 12 to 24 in wide for a readable look from traffic behind the vehicle. Side window decals on door glass usually fit best at 6 to 10 in wide. Measure your glass panel before uploading your file. Enter a custom size in the configurator so the die-cut shape matches the exact area you want to cover.
-
Business Branding Versus Personal Customization Changes the Design Approach
Here's the thing: the design approach matters as much as the size. For business branding, keep the layout to your logo, phone number, and website URL on a transparent background. The die-cut shape then follows your logo outline exactly, with no visible border around it. For personal graphics, any shape works. Upload your file as a PNG with a transparent background for the cleanest cut line.
-
Single Decal Versus Fleet Order Changes the Quantity and Turnaround
A single decal ships in 1 to 2 business days after proof approval. Fleet orders covering 10 or more vehicles may add 1 to 2 production days. Submit your full vehicle count upfront so we can batch the order and keep color consistent across every car. And volume discounts apply automatically at checkout, so the per-unit cost drops as quantity goes up.
-
Permanent Decal Versus Removable Option Depends on Vehicle Use
-
Vehicle Stays in Business Use Long Term
Permanent adhesive on 4 mil PVC calendar film is the right call for any car in active business use for 1 year or more. The adhesive bonds firmly to factory glass and holds flat through car washes and direct sun for 3 to 5 years without peeling.
-
Vehicle Switches Between Business and Personal Use
But if the car doubles as a personal vehicle on off days, go with Magnetic Signs instead. They attach to the door or hood without adhesive and come off in seconds, so you are not branded on a Saturday grocery run.
Pair it with
The Removable Alternative
Some vehicles split time between personal and business use. Magnetic Signs attach to the door or hood without adhesive. Pull them off in seconds on weekends without touching the glass or leaving any mark behind.
Brand Every Panel in One Order
Your rear window decal is the starting point. Custom Car Door Decals and Custom Car Bumper Decals use the same 4 mil PVC material. Logo color and cut quality stay consistent across every visible surface of the car.
When Rear Visibility Matters
Permanent window decals cover the glass completely. But if your driver needs to see through the rear window, Perforated Window Decals give you full-color branding on the outside with a clear view from the inside.
Match the Car to the Storefront
A small business owner shouldn't have two different logos on the road and on the wall. Custom Signs let you match the branding on your vehicle window to the signage at your physical location, keeping colors and contact info consistent across both.
FAQs
Will a Car Window Decal Leave Residue or Damage the Glass When Removed?
The permanent adhesive bonds firmly to factory glass but does not damage it on removal. Apply low heat from a heat gun or hair dryer to soften the adhesive, then peel slowly from one corner. Any remaining adhesive residue on the glass cleans off with rubbing alcohol. That said, aftermarket or freshly painted glass (under 30 days) may react differently, so wait before applying to a recently repaired window.
How Long Do Custom Car Window Decals Actually Last Through Car Washes and Sun Exposure?
UV printing at 720 DPI minimum cures ink directly onto the 4 mil PVC surface, giving you scratch-resistant, waterproof color rated 3 to 5 years outdoors. The rating covers direct sun, rain, and automatic car washes. Indoors or in a garage, the decal typically outlasts that range by a wide margin. Colors do not crack or peel because the ink bonds into the surface rather than sitting on top of it.
Can I Apply a Die-Cut Window Decal Myself Without Getting Bubbles?
Yes. Every order ships with application instructions included. Start from one edge and use a squeegee or a flat card to push air outward as you press the decal down. The kiss-cut backing sheet keeps the decal flat and clean until you are ready to peel. Most decals under 24 in wide are straightforward for a single person to apply in under 10 minutes.
Do UV-Printed Colors Fade After a Few Months in Direct Sun?
No. UV-cured inks resist fading because ultraviolet light locks the ink into the PVC surface at the moment of printing. The 4 mil white PVC calendar film holds that bond for 3 to 5 years under normal outdoor conditions. Solvent-based cleaners or abrasive compounds can dull the matte finish, so stick to mild soap and water when cleaning the decal face.
What File Format Do I Need for a Die-Cut Car Window Decal?
We accept PDF, PNG, JPG, and AI files. For die-cut shapes, upload your artwork on a transparent background so we cut around the exact design outline rather than a rectangle. Minimum resolution is 150 DPI, but 300 DPI is recommended for decals under 4 ft where viewers get close to the glass. Set your file to CMYK color mode for accurate color output at print.
Get your artwork right
We accept PDF, PNG, JPG, and AI files. AI (vector format) is the best choice for logos because it scales to any size without losing edge sharpness.
- Resolution
- Resolution runs 150 DPI minimum, but 300 DPI is the right call for any decal under 4 ft wide. That's where viewers step close to the glass and a soft edge becomes visible. Build your file in CMYK color mode (the 4-color process using cyan, magenta, yellow, and black), not RGB. CMYK matches how we print, so the colors on your screen come out as expected on the finished decal.
- Bleed
- Add 0.25 in of bleed on all sides and keep logos and text at least 0.5 in from the cut edge. For die-cut shapes, upload your artwork on a transparent background. That's how we read the exact cut line around your design.

Care instructions
Product care
- Wait 72 hours after applying the decal before washing the car. The permanent adhesive needs that time to fully bond to the glass. For the first 2 weeks, hand wash around the decal and avoid directing high-pressure spray at the edges. After 2 weeks, normal automatic car wash use is fine.
- Clean the decal face with mild soap and water. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvent-based products, or wax directly on the matte surface, as these can dull the finish. To remove the decal, apply low heat from a heat gun or hair dryer, then peel slowly from one corner. Any remaining adhesive residue on the glass cleans off with rubbing alcohol.
