How to orderSpecifications
Custom Vehicle Vinyl Decals run on 4 mil white PVC calendar film with a matte finish and permanent adhesive. They suit any vehicle type: cars, trucks, vans, RVs, and more. UV-cured ink and die-cut shaping make them the go-to choice for bold, long-lasting vehicle graphics.
- Material
- 4 mil white PVC calendar film. Matte finish. Permanent adhesive bonds to painted metal, glass, and plastic without lifting at edges.
- Print Method
- UV printing, where ink cures instantly under ultraviolet light. Creates a scratch-resistant, waterproof surface with no separate lamination needed.
- Color Output
- CMYK full-color at 720 DPI minimum. CMYK (cyan, magenta, yellow, black) reproduces logos, photos, and gradients accurately across the full decal face.
- Finishing
- Die-cut to custom shape. Kiss-cut on backing sheet, meaning the blade cuts the vinyl only and leaves the backing intact for clean, tear-free peeling.
- Size Range
- Custom sizes up to 58.5 in wide. Designs exceeding 58.5 in ship as multiple panels with alignment guide markings included.
- Indoor/Outdoor Rating
- Outdoor rated 3 to 5 years. Resists water, road debris, UV exposure, and standard car wash cycles after a 72-hour cure period.
- Single/Double-Sided
- Single-sided only. The adhesive back bonds to the vehicle surface and the printed face is the visible side.
- Weight
- 4 mil thickness. One mil equals one-thousandth of an inch, so 4 mil sits thin but sturdy enough to lie flat on smooth vehicle panels.

4 Mil PVC Calendar Film With Permanent Adhesive
4 mil white PVC calendar film forms the base of every decal we print. It's a thin, flexible vinyl sheet rated for outdoor use. The permanent adhesive bonds to painted metal, glass, and plastic on any vehicle type. Your decal lies flat and tight through rain, road grime, and temperature swings. Sturdy enough to hold its edge on a door panel at highway speed. And because the material is only 4 mil thick, it sits flush against the surface with no visible bulk.
UV-Cured Ink at 720 DPI Minimum
UV printing cures ink instantly under ultraviolet light, locking color into the vinyl surface the moment it hits. We run a 720 DPI minimum (dots per inch, the measure of print sharpness) on every decal, which keeps logos and fine lettering crisp at close range. The cured surface resists scratching and water without a separate lamination layer. Colors stay bold across the full 3 to 5 year outdoor life, even on vehicles driven daily through direct sun.
Die-Cut to Any Shape Up to 58.5 In Wide
Die-cutting lets your decal match any logo or graphic shape precisely. It cuts the vinyl to the exact outline of your design rather than a standard rectangle. Our press handles widths up to 58.5 in without a seam, so large door panels and hood graphics print as one clean, unbroken piece. No joints. No alignment gaps across a complex shape. Designs wider than 58.5 in ship as multiple panels with alignment guide markings so they line up cleanly on the vehicle surface.

Ideal for
Not the best fit for
Full vehicle wraps covering the entire car surface from bumper to bumper fall outside what we do here. For full coverage, a local wrap installer is the right call.
Temporary vehicle signage that needs daily removal is not a good match for permanent adhesive. Magnetic Signs pull off cleanly with no residue, which makes them the better choice for vehicles that swap between personal and work use.
Rear window graphics where the driver needs to see through the decal need a different material. Perforated Window Decals (70 percent print area, 30 percent open holes) handle that use case without blocking the driver's view.
How to choose
Use these buying points to choose the right Custom Vehicle Vinyl Decals configuration.
-
Placement on the Vehicle Determines the Size You Need
Door panels on most cars and trucks run 18 to 24 in tall and 24 to 36 in wide. That space fits a logo plus contact info at a size readable from a sidewalk or parking lot. Measure the flat section of your door before uploading your file, then enter those exact dimensions in the configurator. Bumper and rear-window placements are typically narrower, so measure the actual surface rather than guessing.
-
Business Fleet Versus Personal Use Changes the Quantity and Layout Approach
Here's the thing: fleet orders and single-vehicle orders print from the same file, but the approach differs. For 10 or more vehicles, order all decals in one batch. Color output stays consistent across every unit when we run them together, and volume pricing applies automatically at checkout. Personal vehicles need only one master design, so focus your effort on getting the dimensions right rather than replication.
-
How Long the Decal Stays on Determines the Adhesive You Need
Our 4 mil PVC calendar film carries a permanent adhesive rated 3 to 5 years outdoors. That's the right call for any decal you plan to leave on through daily driving, car washes, and seasonal weather. But if the vehicle doubles as a personal car and a work vehicle on alternating days, go with Magnetic Signs instead. They pull off in seconds and leave no residue, so the vehicle reads as personal when you need it to.
-
Decal Width Over 58.5 In Requires a Multi-Panel Order
Most door and bumper graphics fall well under 58.5 in wide. RV side panels and trailer graphics often don't. For a graphic wider than 58.5 in, the order ships in multiple panels. Plan your design with a clear center seam point and include alignment marks in your file so the panels line up cleanly on the surface.
Pair it with
The Removable Alternative
Some vehicles pull double duty. A work van on Monday becomes a personal vehicle on Saturday. Magnetic Signs bond to any painted metal surface and pull off in seconds with zero adhesive residue, so the same vehicle reads as personal whenever you need it to.
Cover Every Panel on the Same Vehicle
Your door decal is one piece of a larger branded exterior. These products cover the remaining surfaces so the full vehicle reads as one tight unit from bumper to roof.
Rear Window Graphics With See-Through Visibility
Standard vinyl blocks the driver's view. Perforated Window Decals use a 70/30 perforation (70 percent print area, 30 percent open holes) so the graphic reads bold from outside while the driver sees through clearly from inside.
Match the Storefront to the Fleet
Your vehicles carry the logo on the road. Bring that same identity to the physical location so customers recognize it the moment they walk up.
FAQs
Will the Permanent Adhesive Damage My Car Paint When I Remove the Decal?
Not on factory paint finishes. Apply low heat from a heat gun or hair dryer to soften the adhesive, then peel slowly from one corner. Any remaining residue clears with rubbing alcohol or Goo Gone. That said, wait at least 30 days after a repaint before applying a decal. Fresh paint is not fully cured, and any adhesive product can affect it during that window.
How Long Do Custom Vehicle Vinyl Decals Actually Last on a Vehicle Driven Daily?
The 4 mil PVC calendar film with UV-cured ink is rated 3 to 5 years outdoors. That rating holds through daily driving, direct sun, road debris, and regular car wash cycles after the first 72-hour cure period. Decals kept in shaded parking most of the day typically outlast that range. Decals on south-facing panels in hot climates sit closer to the 3-year mark.
Can I Run the Vehicle Through an Automatic Car Wash After Applying the Decal?
Yes, after the first 72 hours. The adhesive needs that window to fully bond to the painted surface. For the first 2 weeks, hand wash around the decal edges and avoid directing high-pressure spray at them. After 2 weeks, normal automatic car wash use is fine.
Do I Get to See the Exact Shape and Color Before You Print Anything?
Every order gets a free digital proof showing the exact cut shape, color output, and dimensions. Nothing goes to print until you approve it. You can also request changes to the proof before production starts. This step is where you catch sizing issues before they become a wasted decal.
What Happens if My Decal Arrives Damaged or the Color Looks Wrong?
If your order arrives damaged or the color does not match the approved proof, we reprint it at no charge. Contact us with a photo of the issue. And because the proof locks in the expected output, there's a clear reference point for both sides.
Get your artwork right
We accept PDF, PNG, JPG, and AI files. Vector formats (AI and PDF) are preferred for logos and lettering because they scale to any size without losing a sharp edge.
- Resolution
- 150 DPI minimum, 300 DPI recommended for any decal under 4 ft in its longest dimension. Below 300 DPI on a small decal, fine lettering can look soft at close range.
- Bleed
- 0.25 in on all sides. This prevents a white border appearing if the cut runs slightly outside the design edge.
- Safe zone
- Keep all text and logos at least 0.5 in from the cut edge so nothing important gets trimmed.
- Color mode
- CMYK, not RGB. CMYK is the four-color printing process (cyan, magenta, yellow, black) our press actually uses, so colors output closer to what you see on screen. RGB files convert during processing and can shift hues slightly.
- Die-cut orders
- Upload your artwork on a transparent background. We cut around the exact design outline, so a solid white background produces a rectangle, not a custom shape.
Our free online design tool is available at checkout. Professional design service covers custom layouts, logo recreation, and fleet template builds for multi-vehicle orders.
Submit your artwork on a transparent background for die-cut decals and our team sends you a free digital proof within 24 hours.

Care instructions
Product care
- Wait 72 hours after application before washing the vehicle. The adhesive needs that window to fully bond to the painted surface. For the first 2 weeks, hand wash around the decal area and avoid directing high-pressure spray at the decal edges. After 2 weeks, normal automatic car wash use is fine.
- Clean the decal face with mild soap and water. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvent-based products, or wax directly on the decal surface. To remove the decal, apply low heat from a heat gun or hair dryer to soften the adhesive, then peel slowly from one corner. Any remaining residue clears with rubbing alcohol or Goo Gone on factory paint finishes.
