Custom Wall Decals - FAQ
Custom Indoor Wall Decals use a paint-safe adhesive that peels cleanly from fully cured latex or enamel paint. Peel slowly from one corner at roughly a 45-degree angle. On paint cured less than 2 weeks, test a small corner first since fresh latex is softer and more vulnerable to lifting.
Custom Outdoor Wall Decals are built for this. The heavy-duty permanent adhesive fills texture gaps in brick and stucco rather than bridging over them. Press firmly across the full surface and allow 72 hours for the bond to reach full strength. Very rough or porous unfinished stone is not a compatible surface for any adhesive decal.
Single panels run up to 58.5 in in any dimension without a seam. Murals wider or taller than 58.5 in ship in numbered panels with 0.5 in overlap guides printed on each edge for alignment. And there is no maximum overall mural size: full wall coverage on an 8 ft by 20 ft surface ships in as many panels as needed.
UV-printed 4 mil PVC holds color and adhesion for roughly 3 to 5 years on outdoor walls. South-facing walls receive all-day direct sun, which typically pushes color fade toward the 3-year end of that range. Walls with afternoon shade or covered overhangs generally hold closer to 5 years.
Wait at least 2 weeks after painting before applying any wall decal. Fresh paint (especially latex) is still off-gassing and softening, and adhesive applied too early bonds to the paint film rather than the wall. That is what causes paint to lift on removal. Fully cured paint gives the adhesive a stable surface to bond to.
