How to orderSpecifications
Custom Step and Repeat Banners are full-color vinyl photo walls built for press events, galas, and red carpets. Each banner prints a repeating logo tile on PVC Flex vinyl in your choice of two weights. Custom Step and Repeat Banners work indoors and outdoors, with finishing options that fit most standard hanging rigs.
- Material
- PVC Flex vinyl. A smooth, glossy surface that holds flat across wide widths, keeping each logo tile aligned.
- Print Method
- Eco-solvent or UV inkjet. Both bond weather-resistant inks directly to the vinyl for sharp, saturated color under event lighting.
- Color Output
- CMYK full color. The 4-color process (cyan, magenta, yellow, black) matches most brand colors within the standard gamut.
- Finishing
- Brass grommets every 2 ft. Pole pockets along the top or bottom edge. Hem and heat weld for frame-mounted setups.
- Size Range
- Fully custom. Banners with a width or height over 10 ft include a welded seam (a heat-bonded join that holds panels together without visible gaps).
- Indoor/Outdoor Rating
- Rated for both. Outdoor use with UV-resistant inks typically lasts 6 to 12 months in direct sun. Indoor use extends well beyond 12 months.
- Single/Double-Sided
- Single-sided is standard for photo walls. Double-sided with a blockout liner (a white layer that stops show-through between front and back prints) is available.
- Weight
- 11 oz for indoor events and short-term setups. 16 oz for outdoor use or locations where the banner stays up more than a few days.

Repeating Logo Pattern Printed on 11 oz or 16 oz PVC Flex Vinyl
PVC Flex vinyl is a smooth, glossy outdoor material. It comes in two weights: 11 oz for lighter indoor setups, 16 oz for heavier outdoor or long-term use. Heavier weight means flatter hang across a wide photo wall. We print your repeating logo pattern on whichever weight fits your event, so the tile layout holds its shape from edge to edge. No sagging. No pulling at the grommets.
Eco-Solvent or UV Inkjet Printing in CMYK Full Color
Eco-solvent printing bonds weather-resistant inks directly to vinyl. UV inkjet does the same. Both lay down CMYK full color across every logo tile, using cyan, magenta, yellow, and black to match most brand colors within the standard gamut. Each logo reads with the same bold color whether it sits at the center or the far edge of the wall. And because the ink bonds to the vinyl surface rather than sitting on top, colors stay crisp under event lighting and camera flash without bleeding or fading.
Grommets, Pole Pockets, or Hem and Heat Weld Finishing
Brass grommets punch every 2 ft along the edges. Hang the banner with hooks, zip ties, or rope from any pipe-and-drape frame or wall anchor. Pole pockets are fabric sleeves sewn along the top or bottom edge to slide a rod through for a taut, flat hang. Hem and heat weld seals the edges with heat for a clean, reinforced finish that works with hook-and-loop tape on a frame. Three finishing options. One goes with your exact setup.

Ideal for
Not the best fit for
Polished indoor trade show backdrops where a matte finish and zero glare matter more than cost. Fabric Banners handle that job better.
Buyers who want a wrinkle-free tension display with an aluminum frame included should look at Step and Repeat Backdrops instead.
Temporary window displays that need repositioning or removal without damage call for Window Decals (cling type), not vinyl.
How to choose
Use these buying points to choose the right Custom Step and Repeat Banners configuration.
-
11 oz or 16 oz Vinyl for Your Event
One-night indoor events (galas, award dinners, proms) do fine on 11 oz. It's lighter, costs less, and comes down the same evening it goes up. Choose 16 oz if the banner stays outdoors for more than a few days, or if your venue runs heavy air conditioning that causes lighter vinyl to ripple across a wide span. Add 16 oz to your cart and note your event date in the order comments.
-
The Right Finishing for Your Hanging Method
Grommets work for pipe-and-drape frames, wall anchors, and fence lines where you thread zip ties or bungee cords every 2 ft. Pole pockets let you slide a horizontal rod through the top and bottom edges for a flat, taut hang without any hardware visible in photos. Hem and heat weld seals the edges clean for hook-and-loop tape attachment to a rigid frame. Pick your finishing option in the configurator before uploading your file.
-
Sizing the Banner for Your Photo Wall
-
Single-Person Spots
An 8 ft x 8 ft banner fits one or two people. It reads cleanly in a standard smartphone photo taken from about 5 ft away.
-
Group Shots and Stage Backdrops
Step up to 8 ft x 20 ft or wider when 4 or more guests stand side by side. Enter your exact wall or frame dimensions in the custom size field so the repeating tile pattern scales correctly across the full width.

Vinyl Step and Repeat Versus Fabric Tension Display
Vinyl is the right call when budget matters and the banner hangs flat. But if your photographer uses a flash or continuous lighting rig, the glossy surface can reflect back into the lens. Fabric tension displays (see Step and Repeat Backdrops) cost more and include an aluminum frame, yet they eliminate glare entirely under studio lighting. For most galas and corporate events without dedicated studio lighting, vinyl prints sharply and holds flat all evening on 16 oz.
Pair it with
Frame the Photo Wall Completely
Your step and repeat needs something to hang from. Banner Stands and Displays give the vinyl a freestanding pipe-free frame so you can place the photo wall anywhere in the venue. Put a Table Cover at the check-in table directly in front of the backdrop to carry the brand all the way to the guest's first touchpoint.
Prefer a Matte Surface Under Flash Lighting?
Vinyl has a glossy finish that can catch a direct flash at certain angles. Fabric Banners and Step and Repeat Backdrops both use a matte surface that absorbs light instead of reflecting it. Both cost more than vinyl, but they eliminate glare entirely under studio or continuous lighting rigs.
Cover the Rest of the Event Floor
A photo wall is one piece of a larger branded environment. Custom Sponsor Banners line the fence perimeter or stage edge. Custom Event Banners guide guests from the entrance directly to the photo opportunity so foot traffic doesn't stall.
Outdoor Gala or Festival Setup
Canopy Tents shelter the photo wall area from sun and light rain so the backdrop stays dry and the vinyl doesn't catch wind. Place an A-Frame Sign at the venue entrance to point guests toward the photo spot before they wander past it.
FAQs
Will Vinyl Glare Wash Out My Logo in Photos?
Glossy vinyl does reflect light, but the angle matters more than the material. Most event photographers shoot from 6 to 10 ft away at a slight angle, which moves the reflection off the lens. Eco-solvent and UV inkjet inks lay down saturated CMYK color that reads bold even under bright event lighting. If your event uses a direct-facing flash rig at close range, Step and Repeat Backdrops on fabric are the better fit.
What Happens if My Banner Arrives Creased or Damaged?
Banners over 10 ft ship folded, so some fold lines are normal. Lay the banner flat in direct sunlight for roughly 30 minutes and the vinyl relaxes on its own. But if your order arrives with a print error or physical damage we caused, we reprint it at no charge. Contact us with a photo of the issue and we move your reprint to the front of the queue.
Can I Get My Custom Step and Repeat Banner in Time for an Event This Week?
Orders approved before 12 PM EST go into production the same day. Standard production runs 1 to 2 business days before shipping, so most buyers receive their banner 3 to 5 days after placing the order depending on their location. Place your order as early as possible and note your event date in the comments so our team can flag any timing concern before production starts.
Do You Set Up the Logo Tile Repeat, or Do I Send a Pre-Tiled File?
You can do either. Send a single flat file with the full repeating pattern already laid out. Or upload just your logo and note in the order comments that you need the tile repeated across the full banner size. Our team sets up the repeat at no extra charge and sends you a free digital proof within 24 hours so you can confirm spacing and alignment before anything prints.
How Do I Keep a Wide Step and Repeat Banner Flat During an Event?
The short answer: tension at the bottom edge. Use grommets every 2 ft along both the top and bottom edges with bungee cords or zip ties pulled snug. On banners wider than 8 ft, pole pockets top and bottom with rods running the full width hold the vinyl flat without any mid-span sag. Sixteen oz vinyl also resists rippling better than 11 oz when air conditioning drafts cross the room.
Get your artwork right
Custom Step and Repeat Banners print at their sharpest when your file arrives ready to go. We accept PDF, PNG, JPG, and AI formats. AI (Adobe Illustrator vector) is the best choice for logos because vector art scales to any banner width without softening.
- Resolution
- minimum 150 DPI, recommended 300 DPI for banners under 4 ft where guests stand close enough to spot a soft edge.
- Bleed
- extend your artwork 0.25 in beyond the trim line on all four sides so no white edges appear after cutting.
- Safe zone
- keep every logo and any text at least 0.5 in inside the trim line to avoid cropping.
- Color mode
- CMYK, not RGB. RGB is a screen color space. CMYK matches how our press lays down ink, so the colors you see in your file are the colors you get on the vinyl.
Submit your repeating tile as a single flat file with the full pattern already laid out. Or note in your order comments if you'd like us to tile the logo repeat across the full banner size. Our free online design tool handles basic layouts, and our design team takes on full logo tiling and spacing work. Submit your banner artwork as a print-ready PDF and our team sends you a free digital proof within 24 hours.

Care instructions
Product care
- Wipe the printed surface with a damp cloth and mild soap after each event. Do not machine wash vinyl. The printed layer bonds to the surface, and machine washing tears it loose faster than outdoor exposure ever would.
- Roll your step and repeat around a sturdy tube for storage rather than folding it flat. Folding creates crease lines that show up in photos, and no amount of sunlight fully removes a sharp fold that has set for weeks.
- Store the rolled banner in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight between events. If fold lines appear from shipping, lay the banner flat in direct sunlight for about 30 minutes. The vinyl relaxes and the lines typically disappear well before your event starts.
