How to orderSpecifications
Custom Retail Banners are printed on PVC Flex vinyl (a smooth, glossy material built for outdoor signage) in 11 oz or 16 oz weights. They handle storefront entrances, window displays, and fence mounts indoors and out. Most retail buyers go with 16 oz for year-round outdoor use.
- Material
- PVC Flex vinyl.Holds ink evenly across the full print area and resists moisture without warping or bubbling.
- Print Method
- Eco-solvent or UV inkjet.Weather-resistant inks bond to the vinyl surface and stay saturated through direct sun and rain.
- Color Output
- CMYK full color.Cyan, magenta, yellow, and black reproduce most brand colors within the standard printing gamut.
- Finishing
- Brass grommets every 2 ft. Pole pockets (fabric sleeves along the top or bottom edge for a rod). Hem and heat weld (edges folded and sealed with heat for a clean, reinforced border).
- Size Range
- Standard sizes are 2x4, 3x6, and 4x8 ft. Custom sizes available. Banners with a width or height over 10 ft include a welded seam.
- Indoor/Outdoor Rating
- Rated for both. Outdoors with UV-resistant inks, expect 6 to 12 months of color hold in direct sun.
- Single/Double-Sided
- Single-sided is standard. Double-sided uses a blockout liner between the two print faces to stop color show-through.
- Weight
- 11 oz for indoor or light-duty use. 16 oz for heavy-duty outdoor locations that face sustained wind or long-term mounting.

Brass Grommets and Reinforced Edges That Hold at the Entrance
Brass grommets sit punched every 2 ft along the hem. That gives you solid hang points so your banner stays flat above the entrance through wind, rain, and daily foot traffic. Each grommet hole gets a heat-welded reinforcement ring so the vinyl around it doesn't tear under tension. And unlike cheaper zinc rings that streak rust down your storefront wall, brass stays clean through months of outdoor exposure. Sturdy edges. Zero sag.
Eco-Solvent and UV Inkjet Printing for Storefront-Facing Color
Eco-solvent and UV inkjet inks bond directly to PVC Flex vinyl. Your sale messaging and brand colors stay crisp and readable from across the parking lot for 6 to 12 months outdoors. Here's the thing: ink that sits on top of the surface chips and fades within weeks. Inks that bond to the vinyl hold their saturation through direct sun and heavy rain. Bold colors. Sharp edges. No ghosting on the whites.
A2Z Printing Hub runs every retail banner through a full-color CMYK (cyan, magenta, yellow, and black) process, which reproduces most brand colors within the standard printing gamut. Color accuracy covered, but only up to 3 to 5 words here since that benefit lives in Get Your Artwork Right.
Single-Sided or Double-Sided With Blockout Liner
A blockout liner is a white opaque layer between the two print faces. It stops color bleed-through on double-sided banners so your window-facing and street-facing sides each read clean on their own. Without it, dark ink on one face shows as a muddy shadow on the other. Single-sided is standard. But if your banner hangs in a window where shoppers see one face and foot traffic sees the other, the double-sided option is the right call.

Ideal for
Not the Best Fit For
Polished indoor trade show backdrops where matte drape and zero glare matter more than weather resistance. [Fabric Banners] handle that job better with 230 GSM polyester that drapes flat under booth lighting.
Temporary window displays that need daily or weekly repositioning without leaving residue. [Window Decals] (cling type) are the right call there.
High-wind fence or scaffolding locations where solid vinyl catches air and risks tearing. [Specialty Mesh Banners] let wind pass through the surface without damage.
How to choose
Use these buying points to choose the right Custom Retail Banners configuration.
-
Matching Vinyl Weight to Your Mounting Location
Your mounting spot tells you which weight to order. A banner inside a sheltered lobby or behind glass needs nothing heavier than 11 oz. But any banner hanging above an entrance, on a fence post, or facing open air for more than a few weeks needs 16 oz. The heavier material resists stretching and stays flat through sustained wind in a way that 11 oz simply cannot. Most storefront buyers land on 16 oz for year-round use. Select your weight in the configurator above before uploading your file.
-
Picking the Right Size for Your Viewing Distance
Size follows the distance between your banner and your farthest viewer. A 2x4 ft banner works for a single window or a wall-mounted interior display where shoppers pass within arm's reach. A 3x6 ft banner reads clearly from roughly 30 ft out, which covers most sidewalk-facing storefronts. A 4x8 ft banner handles building facades and parking lot visibility at around 60 ft. Measure your mounting space first, then match the size to your farthest viewer.
-
Choosing Between Single-Sided and Double-Sided
Single-sided works for any banner mounted flat against a wall or fence where only one face is visible. Double-sided with a blockout liner is the right call for window banners where shoppers see one side from inside and foot traffic sees the other from the street. That white layer between the two print faces stops color from showing through the back. Add the double-sided option in the configurator if your banner hangs free or in a window.
-
Selecting the Right Finishing for Your Hang Method
Brass grommets every 2 ft are the default for most storefront and fence mounts. Use pole pockets if you plan to slide the banner onto a horizontal rod above your entrance. Hem and heat weld alone works for frame-mounted displays where the frame grips the edge. Pick your finishing option before you approve the proof so the layout accounts for the hardware.
Pair it with
Sidewalk-Level Coverage to Match Your Entrance Banner
Your retail banner covers the entrance above. An A-Frame Sign works the sidewalk directly below, so you capture foot traffic at two heights at once. Together, they give a passing shopper two reasons to stop before they reach the door.
Same Vinyl, Matched Campaign Messaging
Custom Sales Banners and Custom Grand Opening Banners use the same PVC Flex vinyl and finishing options as your retail banner. Order a matched set for a launch or clearance campaign and every piece shares the same colors, weight, and grommet spacing.
When the Display Moves Indoors
Fabric Banners are the right swap for lobby displays, trade show settings, or any indoor space where matte drape and zero glare matter more than weather resistance. The 230 GSM polyester drapes flat with no shine under overhead lighting.
Extend Your Brand Beyond the Banner
Canopy Tents and Custom Flags bring your storefront presence out to the sidewalk or parking lot. A flag gives you vertical motion that catches eyes from a distance. A canopy covers a sidewalk sale or weekend market and ties the whole display together.
FAQs
What Size Banner Do I Need for My Storefront Entrance?
Start with your viewing distance. A 3x6 ft banner covers most sidewalk-facing storefronts where foot traffic passes within about 30 ft. A 4x8 ft banner is the right call for a building facade or a parking lot mount where drivers need to read it from farther away. Use the rule of thumb: roughly 1 inch of letter height for every 10 ft of viewing distance.
Will My Banner Hold Up Through Summer Heat and Rain?
Yes, on 16 oz PVC Flex vinyl with UV-resistant inks. Eco-solvent and UV inkjet inks bond directly to the vinyl surface and hold color for 6 to 12 months in direct sun outdoors. The 11 oz weight handles sheltered or indoor spots well. It's not the right pick for a banner staying exposed to heat and rain through an entire season.
Can I Get a Double-Sided Banner Facing Both the Street and My Store?
You can. Double-sided banners use a blockout liner between the two print faces. That liner stops your street-side colors from bleeding through to the interior-facing side, so both faces read clean on their own. Select the double-sided option in the configurator and note which side faces out so we orient the layout correctly.
What Happens if the Colors on My Banner Do Not Match My Upload?
We send a free digital proof before anything goes to press. Review it carefully and request changes if the colors look off. If your banner still arrives and the print does not match the approved proof, we reprint it at no charge. Worth knowing: RGB files convert to CMYK at print and colors can shift, so set your file to CMYK mode before uploading.
How Fast Can I Get My Custom Retail Banner This Week?
Standard production runs 1 to 2 business days after you approve your proof. Orders approved before 12 PM EST go into production the same day. And if you order early in the week, you can typically have your banner in hand by the weekend with standard shipping. Choose your shipping speed at checkout to lock in the arrival date.
Get your artwork right
File format matters before the proof even starts. We accept PDF, PNG, JPG, and AI files. AI (vector) is the best choice for logos because it scales without softening.
- Resolution
- minimum 150 DPI, recommended 300 DPI for any banner under 4 ft where viewers read up close. Anything softer and you'll see fuzzy edges on the proof.
- Bleed
- add 0.25 in of artwork beyond the trim line on all four sides. This stops white slivers from appearing after cutting.
- Safe zone
- keep all text and logos at least 0.5 in inside the trim line. Finishing hardware (grommets, pole pockets) sits along that edge.
- Color mode
- submit files in CMYK. RGB files do convert at print, but color shift is real. CMYK matches how we print, so what you see on screen is much closer to what comes off the press.

Care instructions
Product care
- Wipe the vinyl surface with a damp cloth and mild soap after heavy weather or outdoor grime builds up. Do not use harsh solvents or abrasive scrubbers. Either one can lift the ink layer and dull your colors faster than sun exposure will.
- Roll your banner around a tube for storage rather than folding it. Fold lines in vinyl are tough to remove and can crack the ink along the crease. Store the rolled banner in a cool, dry place away from direct sun. If a crease does appear, lay the banner flat in direct sunlight for about 30 minutes and the vinyl will relax on its own.
