How to orderSpecifications
Custom Polyester Fabric Banners run on 9 oz wrinkle-resistant polyester printed with dye sublimation. The result is a smooth, crisp fabric surface built for indoor trade show backdrops, photo walls, and stage displays where glare-free appearance matters most.
- Material
- 9 oz wrinkle-resistant polyester fabric.Light folds from shipping relax quickly once the banner hangs, typically without steaming.
- Print Method
- Dye sublimation, where ink heats and absorbs directly into the polyester fibers. The print won't crack, peel, or flake even after machine washing and repeated folding.
- Color Output
- CMYK full color (cyan, magenta, yellow, and black combined to reproduce most brand colors).Colors appear slightly richer on dark backgrounds than on light pastels with dye sublimation.
- Finishing
- Brass grommets every 2 ft along the edges. Pole pockets sewn along the top or bottom edge. Hem and heat weld (edges folded and sealed with heat for a reinforced finish).
- Size Range
- Custom sizes available.Order the exact dimensions your display setup needs rather than choosing from fixed sizes.
- Indoor/Outdoor Rating
- Primarily indoor. Handles light outdoor use under a tent or covered awning for short durations. Not rated for prolonged rain or sustained wind.
- Single/Double-Sided
- Single-sided standard. Double-sided with a blockout liner (a white layer between front and back prints that stops show-through) is available.
- Weight
- 9 oz per square yard.Lighter than vinyl at 13 oz or 16 oz, so the banner drapes naturally without pulling frames out of alignment.

9 oz Dye-Sublimated Polyester That Absorbs Ink Into the Fiber
Dye sublimation heats ink and bonds it directly into the polyester fibers rather than leaving it on top. That process runs on every fabric banner we produce at A2Z Printing Hub. The ink becomes part of the fiber itself. That bond means the print won't crack, peel, or flake after folding, transport, or machine washing, so your banner holds up across multiple events without losing color. Washability covered. Durability covered.
Zero-Glare Surface Built for Booth Lighting and Flash Photography
The 9 oz polyester surface absorbs light rather than bouncing it back. Under fluorescent booth lighting or direct camera flash, a glossy vinyl surface reflects a bright wash that blows out logos and washes out faces in photos. Polyester absorbs that light instead, so your backdrop reads clean in every shot and every visitor sightline. Sharp colors, no hotspots. And visitors standing within 5 ft of the surface still see every detail without squinting past a glare.
Finishing Options That Fit Any Hanging Setup
Three finishing options cover three distinct mounting situations. Brass grommets placed every 2 ft along the edges attach to hooks, zip ties, or rope on a pipe-and-drape system. Pole pockets (fabric sleeves sewn along the top or bottom edge) slide onto a horizontal rod for a clean, frameless look. Hem and heat weld (edges folded and sealed with heat) gives you a sturdy, reinforced finish for frame-mounted displays that grip the edges directly. No extra hardware needed for any of them.

Ideal for
Not the best fit for
Outdoor signage exposed to direct rain or sustained wind is not a good match. Fabric absorbs moisture and sags under wind load. Custom Vinyl Banners on 13 oz PVC Flex handle those conditions and are rated for 6 to 12 months of outdoor use.
Budget-conscious temporary signage where cost per square foot is the deciding factor will do better elsewhere. Custom Vinyl Banners cost less per square foot for short-run indoor use.
Fence-mounted or scaffolding displays in open-air locations need a different material entirely. Custom Mesh Banners let wind pass through without tearing and are built for those setups.
How to choose
Use these buying points to choose the right Custom Polyester Fabric Banners configuration.
-
Fabric vs Vinyl for an Indoor Display
Here's the thing: both materials print full-color CMYK, but they behave differently under light. Vinyl sits on a glossy surface that bounces fluorescent and stage light back toward your audience. The 9 oz polyester surface absorbs light instead, so logos stay readable and cameras don't catch a washed-out reflection. Go with fabric any time visitors stand within 7 ft of the banner or when photography is part of the event. Vinyl costs less per square foot for short-run indoor use where glare is not a concern.
-
The Right Finishing for Your Hanging Setup
-
Grommets
Brass grommets placed every 2 ft work for pipe-and-drape systems, hooks, zip ties, and rope. Most trade show venues run pipe-and-drape, so grommets fit the majority of booth setups without extra hardware.
-
Pole Pockets and Hem and Heat Weld
Choose a pole pocket when you're sliding a rod through the top edge for a clean, frameless look. Hem and heat weld (edges folded and sealed with heat for a reinforced finish) works when a frame grips the banner edges directly. But if you're unsure, grommets give you the most flexibility across different venues.
-
Single-Sided vs Double-Sided
Single-sided covers any display where the back faces a wall, drape, or frame. Order double-sided with a blockout liner only when both faces are visible. A ceiling-hung display or a freestanding frame in the center of a room are the two situations where that matters.
-
Fabric for Sheltered Outdoor Use
Polyester handles short outdoor events under a tent or covered awning without trouble. Direct rain or sustained wind is a different situation. Fabric absorbs moisture and sags under those conditions, so switch to Custom Vinyl Banners on 13 oz PVC Flex for any outdoor setup without reliable overhead cover.
Pair it with
Give Your Banner a Freestanding Structure
Your polyester fabric banner looks sharp on a pipe-and-drape system, but not every venue has one. Banner Stands give the banner a freestanding frame so you can set up anywhere indoors without wall mounts or rigging.
Round Out the Booth Surface Below the Banner
A fabric banner covers the backdrop, but the table in front of it matters too. Table Covers in a matching fabric weight pull the full booth together so the display reads as one cohesive setup from across the aisle.
Switch Materials When the Event Moves Outside
Direct rain or sustained wind calls for a tougher material. Custom Vinyl Banners on 13 oz PVC Flex hold up outdoors without absorbing moisture or sagging. Custom Fabric Step and Repeat Banners stay in the fabric family for dedicated photo walls.
Add Overhead Shelter for Outdoor Events
Taking the event outside doesn't mean leaving the fabric banner behind. Canopy Tents block direct weather so the banner drapes cleanly without taking on moisture. Custom Flags work alongside the tent to mark the space from a distance.
FAQs
Can I Machine Wash My Custom Polyester Fabric Banner Without Damaging the Print?
Yes, and this is one of the clearest advantages fabric holds over vinyl. Dye sublimation bonds ink directly into the polyester fibers rather than leaving it on the surface, so the print does not crack, fade, or peel through machine washing. Wash cold with mild detergent and tumble dry on low heat. High heat can shrink the weave, so keep the dryer setting low.
Will My Banner Arrive Wrinkled, and How Do I Fix It Before the Event?
Light wrinkles from folding during shipment are normal. The 9 oz wrinkle-resistant weave means most folds relax on their own within roughly 30 minutes of hanging. A handheld steamer clears any remaining wrinkles faster than an iron on large banners. Do not use high heat directly on the polyester surface.
How Does Dye Sublimation Hold Up Compared to Vinyl Printing After Repeated Use?
Vinyl ink sits on top of the material and can crack along fold lines after repeated transport. Dye sublimation ink absorbs into the polyester fibers, so folding, washing, and reuse across multiple events do not affect the print. The color stays crisp because the ink is part of the fiber, not a coating on top of it.
What Happens If My Banner Arrives Damaged or the Colors Look Wrong?
Contact us within 7 days of delivery and we'll reprint your order at no charge if it arrives damaged or does not match the approved proof. We send a free digital proof before anything goes to print, so color accuracy is confirmed before production starts.
How Quickly Can I Get My Fabric Banner If My Event Is Coming Up Fast?
Orders with an approved proof before 12 PM EST go into production the same day. Standard turnaround runs 1 to 2 business days after approval, then ships from within the USA. Submit your file early and approve the proof quickly to keep that timeline.
Get your artwork right
Resolution affects how crisp your print looks up close. We accept PDF, PNG, JPG, and AI files. Minimum 150 DPI works for large banners viewed from a distance. For any banner under 4 ft wide where visitors stand close, 300 DPI is the better target.
Set your color mode to CMYK (cyan, magenta, yellow, and black combined to reproduce most brand colors within standard gamut). Do not send RGB files. RGB is a screen color space and shifts on press in ways that are hard to predict until you see the proof.
- Bleed
- 0.25 in beyond the trim line on all four sides. Bleed prevents white edges if the cut runs slightly off center.
- Safe zone
- 0.5 in inside the trim line for all text and logos. Anything closer to the edge risks getting trimmed or lost in a hem fold.
Worth knowing: dye sublimation on polyester produces slightly more muted output than vinyl UV printing. High-contrast designs and dark backgrounds show richer color than light pastels on this material. Build your artwork with contrast in mind.

Care instructions
Product care
- Machine wash your polyester fabric banner cold with mild detergent. The dye sublimation print bonds into the fibers and will not crack or fade from washing. Tumble dry on low heat. High heat can shrink the polyester weave, so keep the dryer setting low.
- Steam or iron on low heat to remove wrinkles before display. A handheld steamer moves faster than an iron on a large banner. Fold for storage between events. Unlike vinyl, polyester does not crease permanently, so folding is fine and takes up less space than rolling.
