How to orderSpecifications
Custom Outdoor Banners are full-color PVC Flex vinyl signs built for storefronts, fences, and building facades. They come in 11 oz or 16 oz weights and print with weather-resistant inks rated 6 to 12 months outdoors. Custom Outdoor Banners are the most cost-effective outdoor sign option for businesses that need crisp, readable signage fast.
- Material
- PVC Flex vinyl. A smooth, glossy surface that resists moisture and holds ink without cracking under UV exposure.
- Print Method
- Eco-solvent or UV inkjet printing. Both bond weather-resistant inks directly to vinyl for sharp, saturated outdoor color.
- Color Output
- CMYK full color (cyan, magenta, yellow, and black combined to reproduce most brand colors). A free proof lets you check color before production.
- Finishing
- Brass grommets every 2 ft (standard). Pole pockets (fabric sleeves along the top or bottom edge for a rod) and hem and heat weld (folded, heat-sealed edges for a reinforced finish) also available.
- Size Range
- 2 ft x 3 ft up to 20 ft x 100 ft custom. Banners with a width or height over 10 ft include a welded seam for structural support.
- Indoor/Outdoor Rating
- Rated 6 to 12 months outdoors with UV-resistant inks. Suitable indoors as well, with a longer lifespan when kept out of direct weather.
- Single/Double-Sided
- Single-sided is standard. Double-sided banners include a blockout layer (a white barrier between front and back prints) to stop color from showing through.
- Weight
- 11 oz for indoor or short-term outdoor use. 16 oz is heavier and thicker, built for long-term outdoor or high-wind locations.

UV-Resistant Inks That Hold Color Through Rain and Direct Sun
Eco-solvent and UV inkjet inks bond directly to PVC Flex vinyl at the molecular level. Color locks into the surface rather than sitting on top of it. Both ink types carry a 6 to 12 month outdoor rating in direct sun. You won't see the chalky fade or bleed that cheaper water-based inks show after a few weeks of weather. Bold colors stay saturated through heat, rain, and UV exposure, so your storefront or fence banner looks the same in month six as it did on day one.
Brass Grommets Every 2 ft for a Secure, Flat Hang
Grommets (rust-resistant brass rings punched into the banner edges) ship standard on every order. Spaced every 2 ft along all four sides. That spacing gives you solid anchor points for zip ties, bungee cords, or rope without bunching the vinyl between attachment points. And because the rings are brass rather than steel, they won't rust and stain the face of your banner after a week of rain. Tight. Flat. No sag.
Free Digital Proof Before We Print a Single Banner
A2Z Printing Hub sends a free digital proof within 24 hours of your order. Check layout, color, and text before production starts. Nothing prints until you approve it. That's not a courtesy step. It's a hard stop that catches text errors, color shifts, and layout problems before they become a finished banner you can't use. Worth knowing: most buyers spot at least one change during proof review, so budget a few minutes to look it over carefully.
Customer reviews
This outdoor banner is fantastic for advertising our farm stand. It's bright, easy to read, and seems very durable as an outdoor banner.
Happy with our purchase of this outdoor banner. It's large and visible, exactly what we needed to attract attention. A great outdoor banner for the price.
The outdoor banner we ordered for our event stood up to the rain perfectly. The quality is excellent for an outdoor banner.
Needed a durable outdoor banner for our business. This one seems very sturdy and the printing is clear, even from the road. A good outdoor banner.
Our outdoor banner has been up for a few weeks now and still looks great! The colors haven't faded, and it's held up well against the weather. A reliable outdoor banner.
Ideal for
Not the Best Fit For
Polished indoor trade show backdrops where a matte drape and zero glare matter more than cost. Fabric Banners handle that job better.
Temporary window displays that need repositioning or removal without leaving residue. Window Decals (cling type) are the right call there.
High-wind spots like tall scaffolding or rooftop fences where solid vinyl catches air and risks tearing. Custom Mesh Banners let wind pass through and hold up in those locations.
How to choose
Use these buying points to choose the right Custom Outdoor Banners configuration.
-
Vinyl Weight Matches How Long the Banner Stays Up
Short runs change the math. Go with 11 oz if the banner comes down within 60 days or hangs indoors. It costs less per square foot and handles light-duty use without any trouble. But for anything staying up longer than 3 months, or facing sustained wind on a fence or building, 16 oz is the right call. Most storefront and fence locations do best with 16 oz. Pick your weight in the configurator above before you upload your file.
-
Finishing Type Matches Your Mounting Location
Brass grommets every 2 ft work for most fence, wall, and building mounts using zip ties or bungee cords. Order pole pockets if you're sliding the banner onto a horizontal rod at the top and bottom. Use hem and heat weld (folded, heat-sealed edges) when the banner attaches to a frame system. Select your finishing option in the product configurator.
-
Single-Sided or Double-Sided Depends on Viewer Position
Single-sided works when viewers only see one face of the banner. Order double-sided with a blockout layer (a white barrier between front and back prints) when people approach from both directions. A banner strung across a parking lot entrance is the typical case. Add double-sided in the configurator and we'll include the blockout layer automatically.
-
Banner Size Comes From Viewing Distance
Here's the thing: most buyers size down and then regret it. A rough guide is 1 inch of letter height for every 10 ft of viewing distance. A 3 ft x 6 ft banner suits a storefront read from the sidewalk at roughly 20 to 30 ft. A 4 ft x 8 ft banner works for a fence or building read from a parking lot at 40 to 60 ft. Use the size selector to enter custom dimensions if standard sizes don't fit your space.
Pair it with
Street-Level Attention at Your Storefront
Your outdoor banner handles vertical visibility from a distance. An A-Frame Sign on the sidewalk catches pedestrians at eye level, and Custom Flags flanking the entrance pull attention from both directions at street level.
Branded Booth for Outdoor Events
A banner behind your table sets the backdrop. Add a Canopy Tent overhead and a Table Cover below and every surface in your booth carries your branding, not just the back wall.
When Solid Vinyl Isn't the Right Fit
Honestly, some locations need a different material. Fabric Banners suit indoor trade show backdrops where a matte, drape finish matters. Custom Mesh Banners handle scaffolding and tall fence lines where solid vinyl catches too much wind and risks tearing at the grommets.
Heavier Weight for Long-Term Outdoor Locations
The 16 oz option in Custom Heavy Duty Banners is the right step up when your banner stays up longer than 12 months. Sustained wind at height is the other reason to move up. Same full-color CMYK print, thicker material throughout.
FAQs
What Happens if My Banner Arrives Damaged or the Colors Look Wrong?
We send a free reprint at no charge. You don't need to ship the original back. The free digital proof we send before production is your first check on color and layout, so most issues get caught before a single banner prints. If something still arrives wrong on our end, contact us with a photo and we'll get a replacement into production the same day.
Can I Get My Custom Outdoor Banner in Time for an Event Next Week?
The short answer: yes, in most cases. Orders approved before 12 PM EST go into production the same day, and standard production runs 1 to 2 business days before shipping. Place your order at least 4 to 5 business days before your event to give shipping time a comfortable buffer. Rush needs? Reach out before ordering and we'll confirm what's possible for your timeline.
How Do I Hang a Large Banner Over 10 ft Without It Sagging in the Middle?
Banners wider or taller than 10 ft include a welded seam for structural integrity, so the vinyl itself won't buckle. Brass grommets every 2 ft along the top and bottom edges give you solid anchor points. Use bungee cords rather than rigid ties so the banner can flex slightly in wind without pulling at the grommets. For very wide spans, a pole pocket top and bottom with a rod running through both edges keeps everything taut.
Does the Glossy Vinyl Surface Make the Banner Hard to Read in Direct Sunlight?
Glare is a real concern at certain angles, but it does not make the banner unreadable at typical viewing distances of 20 ft or more. Bold lettering on a contrasting background cuts through glare effectively. If glare is a consistent issue at your specific location, Fabric Banners with a matte finish handle that situation better for indoor or sheltered outdoor setups.
What File Format Should I Send So the Print Comes Out Sharp and Not Blurry?
Send a PDF, PNG, JPG, or AI file set to CMYK color mode. Minimum 150 DPI, and we recommend 300 DPI for any banner under 4 ft where viewers get close enough to notice a soft edge. Include a 0.25 in bleed beyond the trim line on all sides. Keep all text and logos at least 0.5 in inside the trim line (the safe zone) so nothing gets cut off.

- Accepted File Formats
- PDF, PNG, JPG, or AI. AI (Adobe Illustrator vector files) are best for logos because they scale without losing sharpness at any size.
- Resolution
- 150 DPI minimum. Go with 300 DPI for any banner under 4 ft wide, since viewers get close enough to spot a soft edge on text and fine details. Most file problems we catch at proof stage trace back to low resolution.
- Bleed
- 0.25 in of artwork beyond the trim line on all four sides. This prevents bare white edges after cutting.
- Safe Zone
- Keep all text and logos at least 0.5 in inside the trim line. Anything closer risks getting cut off.
- Color Mode
- CMYK, not RGB. CMYK (cyan, magenta, yellow, and black) is how our presses mix color, so what you see in a CMYK file is what comes out on the banner. RGB files shift when converted and can make your colors look duller than expected.

Care instructions
Cleaning
- Wipe the vinyl surface with a damp cloth and mild soap to remove dirt or grime. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scrub pads. They scratch the glossy surface and break down the ink layer faster than outdoor exposure will.
Storage and Transport
- Roll your banner around a tube for storage rather than folding it. Folding creates crease lines that do not fully relax, even after time in the sun. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sun when the banner is not in use. But if a crease forms, lay the banner flat in direct sunlight for about 30 minutes and the vinyl will relax on its own.
