4 mil PVC Calendar Film With Permanent Adhesive
4 mil white PVC calendar film forms the base of every bike decal we print. It's a thin, flexible vinyl sheet rated for outdoor use. At 4 mil thick, it's sturdy enough to resist road grit and wet weather without cracking at the edges. The permanent adhesive bonds to painted metal, plastic, and carbon fiber frames, so your graphics stay flat and tight through road vibration and long rides. Sharp graphics. Solid bond. Done right the first time.
UV Printing at 720 DPI Minimum for Crisp Color Output
UV printing at 720 DPI minimum cures ink instantly under ultraviolet light, locking in bold, scratch-resistant color. That cure happens the moment ink hits the vinyl surface, which is why the finish doesn't smear or chip under normal outdoor conditions. You get full-color output that holds up 3 to 5 years in direct sun without fading or peeling. And because the ink bonds at the surface level, the color stays crisp even after repeated rain and washing.
Die-Cut to Any Shape, Kiss-Cut on Backing Sheet
Die-cutting trims each decal to the exact outline of your artwork, so no white border shows around your logo or lettering. Kiss-cutting (cutting through the vinyl layer only, leaving the backing sheet intact) keeps the decal easy to peel without tearing. A2Z Printing Hub runs this process on every order, whether you're ordering a single name decal or a matched set for 15 bikes. Worth knowing: the backing sheet stays flat during shipping, so your decal arrives ready to apply.

Ideal for
Not the best fit for
Full frame wraps covering every tube and surface aren't a match here. For full coverage, a local wrap installer using cast vinyl is the right call.
Temporary decals that need daily removal between rides don't work with permanent adhesive. Magnetic Signs give you a removable, no-adhesive alternative.
Storefront glass branding where one-way visibility matters needs a different material. Window Decals with perforated vinyl handle that job cleanly.
How to choose
Use these buying points to choose the right Custom Vinyl Bike Decals configuration.
-
Flat Tube Sections Versus Curved or Compound Surfaces
4 mil PVC calendar film is a thin, flexible vinyl sheet. It applies cleanly to flat sections like the down tube, top tube, and chainstay. For tighter curves like the head tube or fork crown, use a heat gun on low to soften the vinyl before pressing it flat against the surface. Size your decal to fit the flat portion of the tube. Most frame tubes run 2 to 8 in wide, so order within that range and leave the compound curves to the heat-forming step.
-
Single Decal Versus a Matching Set for Multiple Bikes
A single die-cut decal works for a personal bike. But for 10 or more bikes in a team or rental fleet, order as a set on one backing sheet. Consistent placement across every frame is easier when all the decals ship together in one layout. Sets at that quantity also qualify for volume pricing, so the per-unit cost drops as you scale up.
-
Standard White PVC Versus Reflective Material for Night Visibility
Here's the thing: standard white PVC handles daytime graphics, logos, and lettering without any trade-off. It holds up 3 to 5 years in direct sun. Riding at dawn, dusk, or after dark? Check our Custom Reflective Bicycle Decals page for engineer-grade reflective vinyl rated for the same outdoor conditions. That material bounces light back toward its source, so you stay visible without swapping to a different frame setup.
-
Self-Application Versus Transfer Tape for Multi-Piece Layouts
For a single die-cut shape under 12 in, peel and apply directly from the backing sheet. For multi-piece layouts or any decal over 12 in, order with transfer tape. Transfer tape is a temporary adhesive layer that holds all pieces in position while you apply them as one unit, so alignment stays exact on the first placement. Do not skip transfer tape on complex layouts, because repositioning a permanent adhesive decal mid-application tears the vinyl.
Pair it with
Finish the Rider's Full Branded Kit
Your frame decal covers the bike. Helmet Decals carry the same graphic onto the rider's head, so the kit looks consistent from every angle at a race or group ride. For bike shops running a delivery vehicle, Magnetic Signs give you removable door branding with zero adhesive and zero frame risk.
Night Visibility on the Same Frame
Standard white PVC handles daytime graphics. Riding at dawn or after dark? Custom Reflective Bicycle Decals use engineer-grade reflective vinyl that bounces headlight beams back toward the source, rated for the same 3 to 5 years outdoors.
More Bike and Two-Wheel Options
Custom Bicycle Decals cover the broader bicycle keyword for riders searching that term. Custom Dirt Bike Decals use the same 4 mil PVC on off-road frames that take heavier abuse from rocks, mud, and brush.
Storefront and Shop Signage
Window Decals handle glass branding at a bike shop entrance where one-way visibility or storefront hours matter. Custom Signs cover permanent interior or exterior signage that matches the fleet decal look across the whole shop.
FAQs
Will the Permanent Adhesive Pull My Frame's Paint or Clear Coat When I Remove the Decal?
This is the worry we hear most often, and the short answer is no, not on factory finishes. Apply low heat from a heat gun or hair dryer to soften the adhesive, then peel slowly from one corner. Any residue left on the frame removes cleanly with rubbing alcohol or Goo Gone. One exception: wait 30 days after any fresh paint job before applying, because paint that has not fully cured can lift under permanent adhesive.
How Long Will Custom Vinyl Bike Decals Actually Last Through Rain, Mud, and Regular Washing?
UV-printed 4 mil PVC is outdoor rated for 3 to 5 years under direct sun, rain, and road grit. Water and scratch resistance come from the UV curing process, which locks ink into the vinyl surface rather than sitting on top of it. Indoors, the same decal typically outlasts that rating. Normal washing with mild soap does not affect durability once the adhesive has cured (allow 72 hours after application before washing).
Can I Apply a Die-Cut Bike Decal Myself Without It Bubbling or Lifting at the Edges?
Yes. Application instructions ship with every order. For decals under 12 in, peel from the backing sheet and press from the center outward to push air toward the edges. For decals over 12 in, use transfer tape so all pieces stay aligned as one unit during placement. Small bubbles left after pressing can usually be smoothed flat by hand within the first hour.
Do I Get to See the Exact Shape and Size Before You Print Anything?
Every order gets a free digital proof showing the exact die-cut outline, dimensions, and color layout. Production does not start until you approve it. This step catches sizing mismatches before any vinyl is cut, which matters most on shaped decals where a millimeter off the outline changes how the graphic reads on the tube.
What Happens if My Decal Arrives Damaged or the Color Looks Wrong?
We reprint and reship at no cost to you. Send us a photo of the damage or color issue and we sort it out. This covers misprints, edge damage from shipping, and color output that does not match the approved proof.
Get your artwork right
We accept PDF, PNG, JPG, and AI files. AI (Adobe Illustrator vector format) is the best choice for logos because vector artwork scales to any size without losing sharpness at the cut edge.
- Resolution
- Resolution runs 150 DPI minimum, with 300 DPI recommended for decals under 4 ft. Here's the thing: riders get close enough to a frame graphic to spot a soft edge, so 300 DPI is worth it on any decal under 24 in.
- Color mode
- Set your color mode to CMYK (the four-color process using cyan, magenta, yellow, and black) before uploading. RGB files shift in color when converted at print time, so CMYK from the start keeps your output accurate. Add 0.25 in of bleed on all sides and keep text and logos at least 0.5 in from the cut edge so nothing important sits in the trim zone.
- Artwork setup
- For die-cut shapes, upload your artwork on a transparent background. We cut around the exact design outline, so a white or solid background produces a rectangle, not a custom shape.
Not ready to upload your own file? Our free online design tool and professional design service are both available at checkout. Submit your artwork on a transparent background for die-cut decals and our team sends you a free digital proof within 24 hours.

Care instructions
Product care
- Wait 72 hours after applying the decal before washing the bike. This gives the permanent adhesive time to fully bond to the frame surface. Hand wash around the decal area for the first 2 weeks and avoid high-pressure spray directly on the decal edges.
- After 2 weeks, normal washing is fine. Clean with mild soap and water. Do not use abrasive cleaners or wax directly on the matte PVC face, as these dull the finish over time.
- For removal, apply low heat from a heat gun or hair dryer to soften the adhesive, then peel slowly from one corner. Any adhesive residue left on the frame removes cleanly with rubbing alcohol or Goo Gone. And if you've had fresh paint done, wait 30 days before applying a new decal.
