4 Mil PVC Calendar Film With Permanent Adhesive
Calendar film (a thin, flexible vinyl sheet rated for outdoor use) runs 4 mil thick on every frame decal we print. That weight matters on a bike. Frame tubes flex slightly under road vibration, and a thinner material would lift at the edges within a few weeks. At 4 mil, the white PVC stays flat and tight against painted metal, carbon fiber, and plastic tube surfaces through wet weather and rough roads. Permanent adhesive bonds directly to the frame surface, holding graphics in place for 3 to 5 years outdoors. Sharp edges. No peeling mid-season.
UV Printing at 720 DPI Minimum for Crisp Color
UV printing cures ink instantly under ultraviolet light as it leaves the print head, locking color into a scratch-resistant, waterproof surface. A2Z Printing Hub runs every frame decal at 720 DPI minimum, so fine lettering and sponsor logos stay crisp even on narrow down tubes. And because the ink bonds to the film surface rather than soaking in, road grime and repeated washing do not dull or lift the color. Bold output. Months of direct sun won't fade it.
Die-Cut to Any Shape, Kiss-Cut on Backing Sheet
Die-cut finishing cuts the vinyl to the exact outline of your design. No standard rectangle, so each piece fits the tube face without excess material wrapping around the edge. Kiss-cutting cuts through the vinyl layer only, leaving the backing sheet intact. That means each piece peels cleanly without tearing or stretching before you place it. Useful for multi-piece sets covering the down tube, top tube, and fork legs as separate graphics that all need clean, precise placement.

Ideal for
Not the best fit for
Full frame wraps covering every surface from head tube to dropout are outside what decals handle well. For full coverage, a local vinyl wrap installer is the right route.
Temporary graphics that need daily removal between rides are not a good match for permanent adhesive. Magnetic Signs give you a removable branding option for flat surfaces, though they're not rated for curved bike frames.
Riders who need one-way see-through graphics on a frame surface won't find the right material here. Window Decals with perforated vinyl are built for glass, not painted metal tubes.
How to choose
Use these buying points to choose the right Custom Bike Frame Decals configuration.
-
Sizing Your Decal to Fit the Frame Tube
Measure the flat face of each tube section first. Down tubes on road bikes typically run 2 to 4 in wide and 10 to 16 in long, and fork legs are narrower, usually 1 to 2 in across. Enter those exact dimensions in the size field so the die-cut lands on the flat face without curling around the edge. A decal that overhangs the tube curve will lift at the corners within weeks, regardless of adhesive strength.
-
Choosing Between a Single Graphic and a Multi-Piece Set
A single large graphic on the down tube reads clearly from 6 to 8 ft away. Works well for most sponsor logo placements. A multi-piece set covering the down tube, top tube, and fork legs gives a full custom look across the whole frame. Here's the thing: order all pieces in one job. Colors shift slightly between production runs, so a single order makes sure every piece on the frame matches.
-
Standard White PVC Versus Reflective Material
Standard 4 mil white PVC calendar film handles daytime visibility and custom graphics well. It holds outdoors 3 to 5 years and resists road grime, rain, and UV exposure without fading. Riders who are out at dawn, dusk, or in low-light conditions should look at our Custom Reflective Bicycle Decals instead. Same die-cut process, but the material bounces headlight beams back toward the source. That's a safety call, not a cosmetic upgrade.
-
Ordering for One Bike Versus a Team Fleet
Single-bike orders use the same die-cut process as fleet orders. No minimum quantity. For 10 or more bikes, bulk pricing applies automatically at checkout and all pieces ship together. Upload one design file, specify the quantity, and every frame in the fleet gets identical graphics cut to the same shape and printed at the same 720 DPI color output.
Pair it with
Match the Frame to the Helmet
Frame graphics and helmet graphics read as one kit when they share the same colors and die-cut style. Helmet Decals use the same 4 mil PVC process sized and shaped to fit curved helmet surfaces.
Go Reflective for Low-Light Rides
Standard white PVC works well in daylight. But if you ride at dawn, dusk, or night, reflective material bounces headlight beams back toward the source for added visibility. Custom Reflective Bicycle Decals use the same die-cut process on a reflective base.
Cover More Than the Frame Tubes
Frame decals handle the down tube, top tube, and fork legs. These products extend your custom graphics to other bike surfaces and general vinyl applications.
Add a Removable Option for Shop Vehicles
Bike shop owners branding fleet frames may also need a removable option for shop delivery vehicles or vans. Magnetic Signs attach to flat metal surfaces and come off without adhesive residue.
FAQs
Will the Adhesive Lift Off Curved Frame Tubes Over Time?
The permanent adhesive on 4 mil PVC calendar film bonds to painted metal, carbon fiber, and plastic frame surfaces. Curved tube sections hold well as long as the decal is sized to the flat face of the tube, not stretched around the edge. Apply with firm pressure from center to edge, then let the adhesive cure for 72 hours before the first wash. Decals sized correctly to the tube face stay flat and tight through road vibration and wet weather for 3 to 5 years.
Can I Remove Custom Bike Frame Decals Without Damaging the Paint?
Yes. Apply low heat from a heat gun or hair dryer to soften the adhesive, then peel slowly from one corner. Any remaining residue cleans off with rubbing alcohol or Goo Gone without harming factory paint finishes. That said, do not attempt removal on fresh paint under 30 days old. New paint needs time to fully cure before adhesive contact, and pulling early risks lifting the finish.
How Long Do Custom Bike Frame Decals Last Through Rain, Mud, and Washing?
UV-printed 4 mil PVC is outdoor rated for 3 to 5 years under direct sun, rain, and road grime. The ink cures instantly under ultraviolet light during printing, which makes the surface scratch-resistant and waterproof. Gravel spray, repeated hosing, and mud do not degrade the color. Indoors or away from direct UV exposure, the rating runs longer than 5 years.
Do I See the Exact Shape and Size Before You Print?
Every order includes a free digital proof showing the exact die-cut outline, size, and color layout. Nothing goes to production until you approve it. We send the proof within 24 hours of your file upload, and production starts within 1 business day after your approval.
Will the Colors Fade After a Full Riding Season in Direct Sun?
UV-cured inks resist fading for 3 to 5 years under normal outdoor conditions. CMYK full-color output at 720 DPI minimum holds bold, accurate color across logos, gradients, and fine lettering even after months of direct sun and repeated washing.
Get your artwork right
We accept PDF, PNG, JPG, and AI files. AI (Adobe Illustrator) is the best format for logos because vector artwork scales to any size without losing a sharp edge.
For die-cut custom bike frame decals, upload your artwork on a transparent background. That's how we read the exact outline to cut around. Solid white backgrounds print as white vinyl, not clear.
- Resolution
- 150 DPI minimum. We recommend 300 DPI for any decal under 4 ft wide, because that's the range where riders lean in close enough to spot a soft line or a blurry letter.
- Bleed
- 0.25 in on all sides. **Safe zone:** keep text and logos at least 0.5 in from the cut edge so nothing gets trimmed.
- Color mode
- CMYK, not RGB. CMYK is the 4-color process (cyan, magenta, yellow, black) we print in, so your colors come out on the frame the way they looked on screen. RGB files shift at output and can't be fully corrected after the fact.
Worth knowing: our free online design tool lets you size lettering and logos to fit specific tube dimensions before you upload. Need hands-on help? Our design service handles layout, sizing, and file prep.
Submit your artwork on a transparent background and our team sends you a free digital proof within 24 hours.

Care instructions
Product care
- Wait 72 hours after applying your decal before washing the bike. This gives the permanent adhesive time to fully bond to the frame surface. Hand wash around the decal area for the first 2 weeks, and avoid high-pressure spray aimed directly at the edges during that period.
- After 2 weeks, normal washing including pressure rinsing is fine. Clean the decal surface with mild soap and water. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvent-based degreasers, or wax directly on the matte face, as these can dull the finish or lift edges over time.
- To remove, apply low heat from a heat gun or hair dryer to soften the adhesive, then peel slowly from one corner. Any remaining adhesive residue cleans off with rubbing alcohol or Goo Gone without damaging factory paint.
