How to orderSpecifications
Custom Indoor Signs run on 3/16 in white foam core, a rigid panel with a polystyrene foam center and smooth bright white paper faces on both sides. Direct UV printing lays full-color CMYK ink straight onto that white surface. These panels fit lobbies, conference rooms, retail counters, and presentation displays where a clean, crisp sign is needed without heavy mounting hardware.
- Material
- 3/16 in white foam core. Polystyrene center with smooth bright white paper faces. White face gives UV ink a clean base so colors print true.
- Print Method
- Direct UV print. Ink bonds to the surface and cures instantly, giving a scratch-resistant finish that does not peel indoors.
- Color Output
- CMYK full color. Cyan, magenta, yellow, and black combine to reproduce logos, photos, and text across the full visible color range.
- Finishing
- Cut to size with clean straight edges. No grommets or pre-drilled holes on standard panels. Fits standard poster frames or mounts with adhesive strips.
- Size Range
- 8 in by 10 in up to 24 in by 36 in. Custom sizes available for specific wall spaces or frame dimensions.
- Indoor/Outdoor Rating
- Indoor use only. Not rated for outdoor or prolonged direct sunlight. Expected display life is indefinite indoors, away from moisture and heat.
- Single/Double-Sided
- Single-sided or double-sided printing available. Double-sided suits freestanding panels visible from both directions in a hallway.
- Weight
- Under 1 lb for a 24 in by 36 in panel. Light enough to mount with adhesive strips and reposition without tools.

3/16 in Foam Core With Direct UV Printing
Foam core (a polystyrene center bonded to smooth bright white paper faces) runs 3/16 in thick on every panel we produce. That thickness gives you a sturdy, flat surface that holds its shape on a wall or inside a frame without warping. Direct UV printing bonds color straight to the white face, so the finish resists scratching and does not peel or bubble indoors. A2Z Printing Hub uses CMYK UV output on every order, which means logos, photos, and brand colors print true against the white surface from the first panel to the last.
Lightweight Rigid Construction for Wall, Frame, and Freestanding Use
Rigid but lightweight build is the practical advantage foam core holds over heavier sign materials. A 24 in by 36 in panel typically weighs under 1 lb. Mount it with adhesive strips, slide it into a standard poster frame, or lean it on a display stand. No drilling into drywall. No heavy mounting hardware. That matters in conference rooms, medical suites, and retail counters where walls cannot be damaged and setups need to swap quickly.
Full-Color CMYK Output on a Bright White Surface
CMYK (cyan, magenta, yellow, and black) combines four ink channels to reproduce the full visible color range. That includes photos, gradients, and detailed logos. The bright white face acts as a clean, neutral base, so colors print without a separate coating or laminate layer between the ink and the viewer. Bold text reads crisp from across a lobby. Sharp photo detail holds at close range. And because the white surface is consistent across every panel, multi-room sign orders stay color-matched throughout.

Ideal for
Not the best fit for
Any outdoor or semi-outdoor placement, including covered patios or building entrances, will warp and fade the panel. Use Custom Outdoor Signs instead.
Lobbies where a floating, dimensional look with standoff hardware is expected call for a different material. Acrylic Signs with pre-drilled standoff mounts deliver that effect.
Glass doors and painted surfaces need an adhesive graphic, not a rigid panel. Custom Decals are the right fit for those surfaces.
How to choose
Use these buying points to choose the right Custom Indoor Signs configuration.
-
Matching the Sign to the Room and Viewing Distance
Room labels and door signs typically get read from 3 ft to 6 ft away. A panel at 8 in by 10 in or 10 in by 12 in covers that distance with letters at least 0.75 in tall. Lobby signs are different. Visitors read them from 10 ft to 20 ft, so go with at least 18 in by 24 in and keep your letters 2 in tall or taller. Start by measuring the wall space and the farthest point a visitor will read from, then size up.
-
Choosing Between Foam Core and Acrylic for Your Space
Foam core is the right call for conference rooms, offices, and presentation boards where the sign sits in a frame or mounts flush to a wall with adhesive strips. Go with Acrylic Signs when the lobby or reception area calls for a floating, dimensional look using standoff mounts. Those are small metal spacers that hold the sign off the wall surface. The decision is about the finish the room expects, not the print quality. Both use the same full-color CMYK UV process.
-
Deciding on Single-Sided or Double-Sided Printing
Single-sided works for any wall-mounted or frame-mounted sign. Choose double-sided when the panel stands freely in a hallway, sits in a two-sided tabletop frame, or faces foot traffic from both directions. And here's the thing: reprinting a second side later costs more than adding it at checkout. If you're not sure, add double-sided now.

Ordering One Sign Versus a Multi-Room System
A single sign ships in 1 to 2 business days. Multi-room orders of 10 or more panels (common for schools, hotels, and office buildings) qualify for volume pricing. Upload one design file with all variations and we apply your brand consistently across every panel. Contact us before placing an order of 20 or more signs so we can confirm timeline and pricing together.
Pair it with
Finish the Interior Signage System
Door Decals add branded graphics directly to the glass panel beside a foam core room label without a second mounting step. Window Decals carry the same brand identity from the interior wall out to the storefront glass.
Step Up the Material for a Different Finish
Foam core sits flat and looks clean in any frame. But when the lobby or reception area calls for a floating, dimensional look, Acrylic Signs on 1/4 in clear plexiglass with standoff mounts deliver that effect. Metal Signs step up to aluminum for any sign that moves between indoor and outdoor locations.
Cover the Building Exterior While Indoor Signs Handle the Interior
Custom Outdoor Signs handle the building facade and entrance. Foam core panels guide visitors once they are inside. Custom Banners cover large temporary messaging at events or seasonal promotions where a rigid panel is too small.
Guide Visitors From the Sidewalk In
An A-Frame Sign at the entrance pulls foot traffic off the sidewalk. Visitors then follow your indoor wayfinding once they step inside. Custom Decals cover glass surfaces and painted walls where an adhesive graphic fits better than a rigid panel.
FAQs
Will Foam Core Look Cheap Next to Painted Walls and Furniture in a Polished Office Lobby?
Not if it's sized and mounted correctly. A 3/16 in foam core panel printed with direct UV ink sits flat, holds its shape, and reads sharp from across a lobby. The surface is smooth and bright white, so colors land bold without a laminate layer softening the image. That said, if your lobby calls for a floating, dimensional sign with standoff mounts, Acrylic Signs are the better fit there.
Can Custom Indoor Signs on Foam Core Hold Up if Someone Bumps or Leans Against Them?
Foam core is rigid, not fragile. A 3/16 in panel holds flat in a frame or against a wall under normal office contact. High-traffic hallway signs that get bumped daily are better suited to a frame-mounted panel or a wall-mounted acrylic alternative. For most lobby, conference room, and office placements, the panel holds without issue.
How Do I Mount a Foam Core Sign Without Damaging the Wall or Leaving Marks?
Use removable adhesive strips rated for under 1 lb (most foam core panels under 24 in by 36 in weigh less than 1 lb). Command-style strips pull cleanly from painted drywall without leaving marks. You can also slide the panel into a standard poster frame, lean it on an easel, or set it in a tabletop display stand. No drilling needed for any of those options.
What Happens if the Printed Colors Do Not Match Our Brand Guidelines When the Sign Arrives?
We send a free digital proof showing the exact layout, trim lines, and color placement before we print anything. Review it against your brand guidelines and request adjustments before approving. If a sign still arrives with a print that does not match the approved proof, we reprint and reship at no cost to you.
How Fast Can I Get Custom Indoor Signs for a Meeting or Event This Week?
Standard production runs 1 to 2 business days for foam core panels. Submit your file, approve the proof, and most orders ship within 2 business days of approval. Multi-room orders of 10 or more panels may run 2 to 3 business days depending on quantity. Choose an expedited carrier at checkout if your deadline is tight.
Get your artwork right
Resolution determines how sharp text and logos look at close range. For any sign under 24 in wide, 300 DPI (dots per inch, the measure of print detail) is what we recommend. Visitors read room labels and lobby panels from roughly 3 ft to 6 ft away, so fine detail matters. A file at 150 DPI is the floor we accept, but you'll see softer edges on fine text at that setting.
- Accepted formats
- PDF, PNG, JPG, AI. Vector files (AI or PDF) are preferred for logos because they scale without losing edge sharpness.
- Bleed
- 0.25 in on all four sides so color runs to the cut edge cleanly.
- Safe zone
- Keep text and logos at least 0.5 in inside the trim line to avoid anything getting clipped.
- Color mode
- Set your file to CMYK before exporting. RGB files shift in conversion, and the printed result won't match what you see on screen. CMYK is how we print, so it's the closest match you can get.
Our free online design tool works if you don't have a file ready. Need layout help? Our professional design service can set up your artwork before upload. Care instructions
Product care
- Wipe the printed face with a lightly damp cloth to remove dust or smudges. Do not scrub or use abrasive pads. Abrasive contact scratches the UV-printed surface and dulls the color over time.
- Keep panels away from moisture, humidity, and direct sunlight for extended periods. Prolonged heat or damp air can cause the panel to bow or the white face to separate from the polystyrene core.
- Store unused panels flat on a level surface. Leaning a foam core panel against a wall for several days can create a permanent curve that makes flush wall mounting difficult.
- Mount with removable adhesive strips rated for panels under 1 lb. This keeps your walls free of damage and lets you swap signage out quickly when announcements or room assignments change.
