Direct UV Print on Aluminum for 5-Plus Years Outdoors
Direct UV print bonds ink to the aluminum surface at the molecular level. Color doesn't lift, crack, or peel the way vinyl overlays can over time. We run this process on .040 aluminum (roughly 1mm thick, the industry-standard gauge for commercial exterior signs), giving you a scratch-resistant face that holds up through sun, rain, and temperature swings for 5 or more years. No repainting. No recurring replacement cost.
Full-Color CMYK Output Readable From the Street
CMYK full-color output uses cyan, magenta, yellow, and black to reproduce your logo and brand colors accurately. Your storefront reads as bold and intentional from 20 to 50 ft away. Colors stay crisp because the ink cures directly into the surface rather than sitting on top of a film layer. And that matters most for businesses where passing traffic makes a split-second decision to stop or keep driving.
Custom Sizing for Any Building Facade or Mounting Surface
Standard sizes run 12x18, 18x24, and 24x36 inches. But your building probably isn't standard. Custom dimensions let you fit any facade width, awning edge, or wall section without dead space on either side or text running into an architectural feature. Worth knowing: we don't force you into a size that almost works. You enter your exact dimensions at checkout (down to the inch), and the sign arrives cut to that measurement.

Ideal for
Not the best fit for
Vehicle branding that needs to attach to a car door or truck panel is a different job. Magnetic Signs handle removable vehicle applications without adhesive or damage to the finish.
Temporary promotional messaging around a sale or seasonal event doesn't need a permanent aluminum panel. Custom Banners are the right call for short-term outdoor display.
Ground-mounted entrance signs at a property driveway need a freestanding structure, not a wall-mounted panel. Custom Monument Signs are built for that application.
How to choose
Use these buying points to choose the right Custom Storefront Signs configuration.
-
Mounting Location Determines Your Size and Hardware
Flat wall mounting above the entrance door works with pre-drilled holes and standard screw hardware. That's the most common setup for storefront applications. For post or pole mounting at the property edge, specify post-mount hardware when you order so the sign arrives ready to install without a second trip to the hardware store.
-
Viewing Distance Determines Your Letter Height
Here's the thing: most buyers size their sign for how it looks in a design file, not how it reads from the curb. Signs read from 20 to 50 ft need letters at least 3 to 4 in tall. Signs read from 50 to 100 ft need 6 to 12 in letters. Measure your street setback before you finalize the layout.
-
Zoning and Illumination Affect Your Material and Finish
Check your local zoning ordinance for maximum sign area, height limits, and illumination rules before you order. Our aluminum signs are non-illuminated. If your zoning allows or requires a lit cabinet, you will need a separate lighting solution placed behind or around the sign panel. This is not a detail to sort out after the sign ships.
-
What to Ask Your Landlord
Tenant spaces in multi-tenant buildings often have landlord rules on sign size, color, and mounting method. Get written approval before ordering.
-
What to Ask Your City
Some municipalities cap total sign area at a percentage of your facade width. A quick call to the planning office takes 10 minutes and prevents a reorder.
-
Single Sign Versus Full Property Package Changes Your Order Approach
A single storefront sign ships in 2 to 3 business days after proof approval. Outfitting an entire property with lobby, wayfinding, room labels, and exterior signs is a bigger job. Contact us for a multi-sign package with volume pricing and a coordinated production schedule so every piece arrives together.
Pair it with
Finish the Exterior-to-Glass Branding Path
Your building sign covers the facade above the entrance. Window Decals carry your branding down to the glass below it, so the full storefront face reads as one cohesive identity from the sidewalk. A-Frame Signs bring messaging to eye level at the curb, closing the gap between the street and your door.
Carry Your Brand Identity Inside
Custom Lobby Signs continue the name and logo customers just read on the facade, right from the moment they step through the door. Custom Door Signs and Custom Directional Arrow Signs guide visitors from the entrance to the right room or department without confusion.
Outfit a Multi-Tenant or Multi-Department Building
Custom Directory Signs list every tenant or department in the lobby. Visitors know exactly where to go before they ask anyone. Pair them with your storefront-level signs for a complete exterior-to-interior system across the whole property.
Add Temporary Messaging Alongside a Permanent Sign
Custom Banners handle seasonal promotions and sale announcements without touching the permanent sign. Custom Flags at the property entrance pull eyes from the road toward the building on high-traffic days.
FAQs
Will a Storefront Sign Actually Last Outdoors, or Will It Fade Within a Year?
Direct UV print (ink cured instantly by ultraviolet light onto the aluminum surface) bonds at the molecular level, so the color does not sit on top waiting to peel. Aluminum at .040 thickness (roughly 1 mm, the standard gauge for commercial exterior signs) does not rust. Expect 5 or more years of outdoor durability in direct sun and weather without fading, cracking, or structural warping.
How Do I Know the Colors on My Sign Will Match My Brand After Printing?
We send a free digital proof before anything goes to print. CMYK full-color output (the 4-color printing process using cyan, magenta, yellow, and black) reproduces your logo and brand colors accurately. If your original file uses RGB or Pantone colors, convert to CMYK before uploading so the proof reflects the actual printed result.
Can I Get a Custom Size That Fits My Specific Building Facade?
Yes. Standard sizes run 12x18, 18x24, and 24x36 in. Custom dimensions are available for facades, awning edges, or any non-standard mounting area. Enter your exact measurements in the configurator and the price updates automatically.
What Do I Need to Check With My City or Landlord Before Ordering?
Two things. First, check your local zoning ordinance for maximum sign area, height restrictions, and illumination rules. Second, if you lease your space, get landlord written approval covering size, color, and mounting method. Our aluminum signs are non-illuminated, so if your zoning requires a lit cabinet, plan for a separate lighting solution around the panel.
How Long Does It Take to Get My Custom Storefront Sign From Order to Delivery?
Standard production runs 2 to 3 business days after proof approval. Shipping adds roughly 2 to 5 business days depending on your location. Multi-sign property packages with mixed materials typically run 3 to 5 business days in production. Order before 12 PM EST and production starts the same day.
Get your artwork right
Resolution determines how sharp your text and logo read from the street. We accept PDF, PNG, JPG, and AI files. Vector formats (AI or PDF with outlined fonts) are best for logos because they scale to any sign size without losing edge detail.
- Minimum resolution
- 150 DPI at final print size. For signs under 4 ft wide where viewers step within 3 to 6 ft, 300 DPI gives you a crisp, tight edge that 150 DPI cannot always hold.
- Bleed
- 0.25 in on all sides. **Safe zone:** keep all text and logos at least 0.5 in from each edge so mounting holes and trim cuts do not clip your content.
- Color mode
- CMYK, not RGB. RGB is a screen color space. CMYK matches how we print, so your colors come out on the aluminum the way they look in your approved proof. Convert all fonts to outlines before uploading to avoid substitution errors.

Care instructions
Product care
- Aluminum does not rust, so the sign panel itself needs no protective coating, seasonal treatment, or waxing. Wipe the face with a damp cloth and mild soap once or twice a year to clear dirt, bird droppings, and road grime. Skip abrasive pads and harsh chemical cleaners. Both will scratch the UV-printed surface faster than weather will.
- Check your mounting hardware once a year. Screws, standoffs, and post brackets can loosen from wind vibration and thermal expansion over time. Tighten or replace any hardware that lets the sign shift away from the wall. But if the panel itself takes physical damage from impact or vandalism, the aluminum can be swapped out without replacing the mounting hardware, which keeps your reinstallation cost low.
