How to orderSpecifications
Custom Lobby Signs run on 3/16 in white foam core, a rigid indoor panel with a polystyrene core and smooth bright white faces on both sides. Direct UV CMYK print bonds color directly to the white surface, giving you accurate logo reproduction without a laminate layer. These panels are built for indoor reception and lobby display, frames, and presentation boards.
- Material
- 3/16 in white foam core. Polystyrene core with smooth bright white paper faces. Rigid enough to mount flat without a backing board.

- Color Output
- CMYK full color. Cyan, magenta, yellow, and black inks reproduce logos, photography, and brand colors accurately across the full panel.
- Finishing
- No standard finishing applied. Panels ship flat, ready to frame, mount with adhesive strips, or display on an easel.
- Size Range
- Custom sizes available. Common lobby display sizes run from 16 x 20 in up to 24 x 36 in. Larger sizes available on request.

3/16 in Foam Core With Direct UV CMYK Print
Foam core (a polystyrene center bonded to smooth bright white paper faces) runs 3/16 in thick on every panel we build. That thickness gives you a flat, sturdy surface that sits flush in a standard frame or mounts directly to a lobby wall without warping. Direct UV print bonds color right to the white face. No laminate layer needed. Scratch-resistant from day one, and your logo reads sharp and true from across the room.
Lightweight Rigid Construction for Indoor Mounting
A 24 x 36 in foam core panel weighs roughly 1 lb, which is far less than aluminum or acrylic at the same size. That weight means you can mount it with adhesive strips on smooth drywall or drop it into a standard frame without drilling into a single stud. And because the panel stays rigid, it does not bow or flex once it is on the wall. A2Z Printing Hub ships every panel flat so the surface arrives ready to hang.
Full-Color Output on a Bright White Surface
CMYK full color prints directly on the bright white face. Cyan, magenta, yellow, and black inks combine to give your brand colors and photography accurate reproduction across the full panel. The white base acts like a clean canvas: colors stay bold without any warm or gray cast that a tinted substrate would introduce. Worth knowing: logos with tight color standards (Pantone-matched brand palettes) read closest to spec on a bright white surface like this one.

Ideal for
Not the best fit for
Covered entryways, patios, or any semi-outdoor location will degrade the foam core face over time. Use Custom Outdoor Signs on aluminum instead.
Buyers who want a floating, dimensional look with standoff hardware should look at Acrylic Business Signs. Foam core sits flat against a surface. Acrylic with standoff mounts gives you that raised, shadow-gap effect.
Signs that need to move, roll up, or stake into the ground belong in a different category. Custom Banners handle temporary event and promotional messaging.
How to choose
Use these buying points to choose the right Custom Lobby Signs configuration.
-
Matching the Sign to Your Lobby's Visual Style
Look at your walls before anything else. Foam core suits clean, modern lobbies where the sign sits flush in a frame or flat against a painted surface. But if your lobby uses exposed brick, dark wood paneling, or raw metal accents, the flat white face of foam core will look out of place. Acrylic Business Signs with standoff mounts match those heavier material palettes far better.
-
Choosing Between Foam Core and Acrylic for Your Budget and Look
Here's the thing: foam core gives you a crisp, flat surface for logos and text at a lower cost than acrylic at the same size. The trade-off is dimensional depth. Acrylic adds a raised, floating effect that reads as more permanent. If you plan to update the sign within 2 to 3 years or your budget is tight, foam core is the practical choice. Move up to Acrylic Business Signs if the sign is meant to stay for 5 or more years.
-
Deciding on Size Based on Wall Space and Viewing Distance
Size follows distance, not preference. A 16 x 24 in panel fits a reception desk backdrop where visitors stand roughly 6 to 8 ft away. That surface gives you room for a logo and company name at readable scale. For a wall read from 12 to 18 ft, go to 24 x 36 in minimum. Letter height should reach at least 1 in for every 10 ft of viewing distance.

Mounting Method Based on Your Wall Surface
-
Smooth Drywall or Painted Concrete
Adhesive strips hold a foam core panel flat without drilling. A 24 x 36 in panel weighs roughly 1 lb, so standard picture-hanging strips rated for 2 to 3 lb hold it securely.
-
High-Traffic Lobbies or Heavy Frames
Use two screw-mounted picture hooks for anything in a frame that gets bumped or adjusted often. Tell us your wall surface when you order and we can note the best mounting approach on your proof.
Pair it with
Complete the Reception Area
Your lobby sign anchors the wall behind the front desk. These products finish the space around it. Custom Directory Signs list every tenant or department on the same wall, and Custom Directional Arrow Signs guide visitors from the lobby toward the right room.
Step Up to a Different Material
Foam core sits flat and costs less. But if your lobby uses metal accents or exposed surfaces, a different substrate changes the whole look. Acrylic Business Signs float off the wall on standoff mounts, and Custom Office Signs on aluminum handle permanent room labels throughout the building.
Brand Every Door and Surface in the Same Design System
A lobby sign works best when the design carries through the building. Custom Door Signs identify each suite in the same layout as your lobby panel. Custom Conference Room Signs carry your brand from the front desk to every meeting room.
Brand the Entry Before Visitors Reach the Lobby
Visitors see your building entrance before they reach the reception desk. Window Decals brand the glass at the front door, A-Frame Signs direct foot traffic from the sidewalk, and Custom Banners handle temporary lobby messaging during events or promotions.
FAQs
Will a Foam Core Sign Look as Sharp as a Metal or Acrylic Sign on the Wall?
It depends on your lobby's finish level. Direct UV print lays down bold, crisp color that reads cleanly from across a reception area. The difference is not print quality. It is dimension. Foam core sits flat against the wall. Acrylic Business Signs with standoff mounts float off the surface with a shadow gap. For a framed sign or a flush wall mount, foam core holds its own. For a dimensional floating look, acrylic is the right call.
How Long Will Colors Hold Up Indoors Before They Start to Fade?
Kept indoors away from direct moisture, the UV-printed surface holds its color for years without noticeable fading. Direct UV print bonds to the white foam core face without a laminate layer, and the cured ink resists scratching under normal indoor handling. The white paper face can yellow over time if the panel sits on a window-facing wall with strong direct sun for months on end. Keep it away from prolonged sunlight and it stays sharp.
Can I Get My Custom Lobby Signs in a Non-Standard Size to Fit an Existing Frame?
Yes. Custom sizes are available beyond the common 16 x 20 in and 24 x 36 in options. Measure your frame's inner opening before you order, not the outer frame edge, and enter those dimensions in the configurator. We cut to your specified size and print to the edge so the panel drops straight in without trimming on your end.
What File Format Do I Need to Send for a Lobby Sign With a Detailed Logo and Brand Colors?
Send a PDF, PNG, JPG, or AI file at 300 DPI at your final print size. Submit in CMYK color mode (cyan, magenta, yellow, and black) for the most accurate match on the bright white foam core face. Keep logos and text at least 0.5 in inside the trim edge so nothing clips at the cut line. If your file is not at 300 DPI, our team flags it before the job runs and contacts you to resolve it.
How Fast Can I Get a Sign Ready for an Office Opening or Client Visit?
Standard production runs 1 to 2 business days after you approve your free digital proof. Order before 12 PM EST and your sign goes into production the same day. Shipping time depends on your location and the carrier option you choose at checkout. For a firm deadline, order as early as possible and flag your date in the order notes.
Get your artwork right
Resolution makes the biggest difference on a bright white foam core surface. At 150 DPI (dots per inch, the measure of image sharpness at print size), text and logos look acceptable from across the room. At 300 DPI, edges stay crisp up close, and that matters for a lobby sign read from roughly 6 to 10 ft away.
- File formats
- PDF, AI, PNG, or JPG. Vector files (AI or PDF) are best for logos because they scale without softening.
- Color mode
- Submit files in CMYK (cyan, magenta, yellow, black). RGB is for screens. CMYK matches how our printer lays down ink on the white face, so your brand colors come out true.
- Bleed and safe zone
- Add 0.25 in of bleed on all sides. Keep logos and text at least 0.5 in inside the trim edge so nothing gets cut.

Care instructions
Product care
- Wipe the printed foam core surface with a lightly damp cloth to remove dust or fingerprints. Do not use abrasive cloths or solvent-based cleaners. Either one can lift the UV-cured ink layer off the white face.
- Keep your panel away from direct moisture, humidity, and windows with strong direct sun. A sun-facing lobby wall can cause the white face to yellow over time, so position the panel on an interior or shaded wall when you can.
- Store the panel flat if you're not mounting it right away. Leaning foam core against a wall at an angle for more than a few days causes a slight bow that makes flush mounting harder. And if a corner gets crushed in handling, foam core does not recover. Order a fresh panel rather than trying to repair the surface.
