How to orderSpecifications
Custom Wall Signs are 3/16 in white foam core panels printed with CMYK UV ink directly on a smooth bright white face. Each panel holds its shape flat on an interior wall under normal indoor conditions. These signs suit lobbies, offices, conference rooms, and point-of-sale displays where a crisp, sturdy printed surface needs to stay put without heavy hardware.
- Material
- 3/16 in white foam core. Polystyrene foam center bonded between two smooth bright white paper faces. Holds flat indoors without bowing.
- Print Method
- Direct UV print. Ink cures instantly on the white face, giving you a scratch-resistant surface that holds sharp detail at 3 to 10 ft.
- Color Output
- CMYK full color. Cyan, magenta, yellow, and black layers reproduce logos, photos, and text across the full panel with no color limits.
- Finishing
- No laminate or coating applied. The UV-cured surface is the finished face. Keep it away from abrasive contact to maintain the surface.
- Size Range
- Custom sizes available. Standard sizes run from roughly 8 in x 10 in up to 24 in x 36 in. Larger formats available on request.
- Indoor/Outdoor Rating
- Indoor use only. Under normal indoor conditions, color holds and the panel stays rigid for the life of the installation.
- Single/Double-Sided
- Available single-sided for flat wall mounting or double-sided for frame display and presentation holders. Specify at order.
- Weight
- Very lightweight. Foam core weighs a fraction of aluminum or acrylic at the same size, so adhesive strips handle most installs cleanly.

3/16 in Foam Core With a Bright White Print Face
Foam core runs a polystyrene center bonded between two smooth bright white paper faces at 3/16 in thick. That structure keeps the panel flat against a wall without bowing under normal indoor temperature and humidity. Sturdy enough to stay put. Light enough to mount with adhesive strips and no wall reinforcement. And because the face is smooth and bright white, ink sits on a clean surface that doesn't compete with your design.
CMYK Full-Color UV Print Directly on the Surface
A2Z Printing Hub applies CMYK ink directly onto the white face using UV curing, which locks color into the surface the moment it hits. That gives you a scratch-resistant finish holding crisp, bold detail at close reading distance, typically 3 to 10 ft. No laminate needed. Worth knowing: UV-cured surfaces resist everyday contact far better than standard inkjet-printed foam board you'd find at an office supply store.
Single-Sided or Double-Sided for Any Wall Placement
Single-sided printing suits any flat wall mount. Double-sided covers signs that hang in a frame, sit in a presentation holder, or need to read from both directions in an open space. Specify your option at checkout so we set up the artwork correctly before production starts.

Ideal for
Not the best fit for
Outdoor or semi-outdoor walls where moisture and direct sun reach the panel. Foam core degrades under prolonged outdoor exposure. Use Custom Outdoor Signs instead.
Buyers who want a floating, dimensional look with standoff hardware on a finished lobby wall. Foam core does not support standoff mounts. Custom Lobby Signs on acrylic give you that finish.
Vehicle surfaces or any curved application. Foam core is a rigid indoor panel and cannot flex or adhere to a curved surface. Magnetic Signs handle removable vehicle branding.
How to choose
Use these buying points to choose the right Custom Wall Signs configuration.
-
Matching Sign Size to Your Viewing Distance
Start by measuring how far away most viewers will stand when they read your sign. For a conference room label or office door panel read from roughly 4 to 8 ft, a 12 in x 18 in sign with letters at least 0.5 in tall reads clearly. For a lobby wall read from 10 to 15 ft, step up to 18 in x 24 in or 24 in x 36 in. Letters at least 2 in tall land before the visitor reaches the desk. Measure first. Guessing on size is the most common reason a sign feels wrong after it goes up.
-
Choosing Between Single-Sided Wall Mount and Double-Sided Frame Display
Single-sided foam core mounts flat against the wall with adhesive strips or light screws. That covers most permanent wall locations. Double-sided is the right call when your sign hangs in a frame, sits in a presentation holder, or needs to be read from two directions in an open area. Decide your mounting method before you upload your file so the artwork setup matches your placement.
-
Deciding Between Foam Core and Acrylic for Your Wall Location
Here's the thing: foam core is not the answer for every wall. It's the right call for budget-conscious indoor installs, framed presentations, and displays where the sign sits behind glass or in a holder. But if your sign mounts directly on a finished reception wall with standoff hardware, acrylic gives a floating, dimensional look that foam core cannot match. Those small metal spacers float the sign off the surface for an architectural finish foam core won't replicate. For that look, go with Custom Lobby Signs on acrylic instead.

Ordering a Single Sign Versus a Consistent Room System
A single sign is straightforward: pick your size, pick your sided option, upload your file, done. But if you're outfitting a full floor, upload your brand standards once and we apply a consistent layout across every panel in the order. Multi-sign orders of 10 or more qualify for volume pricing, so build your full sign inventory before you check out.
Pair it with
Complete the Room Identification System
Foam core wall signs cover the interior walls, but the door still needs a label. Custom Door Signs mounted beside or above each entrance give staff and visitors a clear marker before they even step inside, completing the identification system from hallway to desk. - Custom Door Signs - Custom Office Signs
Step Up the Material for a Reception Wall
Foam core suits framed displays and interior rooms well. But when the sign mounts directly on a finished reception wall with standoff hardware, a different material reads as more permanent. Those small metal spacers float the sign off the surface for a dimensional, architectural finish. Custom Lobby Signs on acrylic give you that look. - Custom Lobby Signs
Build a Full Wayfinding Network
A wall sign identifies the room. Custom Directional Arrow Signs at hallway decision points route visitors to it, and Custom Directory Signs in the lobby list every room or tenant at a glance. Together, these three products cover an entire floor or building. - Custom Directional Arrow Signs - Custom Directory Signs
Add Flexible Messaging to the Same Space
Foam core wall signs carry permanent identification. Custom Banners handle temporary promotions in the same interior space without replacing a mounted panel. Window Decals cover glass surfaces where foam core cannot mount, and A-Frame Signs bring messaging to the building entrance or sidewalk level outside. - Custom Banners - Window Decals - A-Frame Signs
FAQs
Will Foam Core Look Cheap on a Finished Office or Lobby Wall?
It depends on placement and framing. A foam core panel mounted flat in a clean frame or behind glass reads as intentional and sharp, not cheap. The UV-cured surface holds bold color and crisp text at close reading distance, typically 3 to 10 ft, so the print quality is not the issue. Where foam core falls short is a bare reception wall with standoff hardware: for that specific look, Custom Lobby Signs on acrylic are the better fit.
How Do I Mount a Custom Wall Sign Without Damaging the Wall Surface?
Adhesive strips rated for the panel weight work on most painted drywall surfaces and leave no holes. Foam core at 3/16 in thick is light enough that standard adhesive mounting strips handle it without reinforcing the wall. If you prefer screws, two small fasteners through the face corners hold the panel flat. Either way, mount to a stud or use drywall anchors if you're hanging a panel larger than 18 in x 24 in.
Can I Get My Signs in Time for a New Office Opening or Renovation Deadline?
Standard production runs 1 to 2 business days for foam core wall signs, and orders placed before 12 PM EST go into production the same day. Multi-sign orders of 10 or more may run 2 to 3 business days depending on quantity. Order before your deadline by at least 4 to 5 business days to account for shipping transit, and you'll have signs on the wall before the first walkthrough.
What Happens If the Printed Colors Do Not Match My Brand Standards When the Sign Arrives?
We send a free digital proof before production starts, and we do not print until you approve it. That proof shows exact color placement across the full panel. If colors still arrive off after approval, contact us with a photo and we reprint at no cost. Submitting your file in CMYK color mode (not RGB) before you upload is the single best step you can take to keep colors accurate between screen and print.
Is Foam Core Durable Enough for a Sign That Stays on the Wall for a Year or More?
Yes, under normal indoor conditions. The UV-cured surface resists scratching and holds color for the life of the installation when the panel stays away from direct sunlight through windows and abrasive contact. The polystyrene core stays rigid and flat as long as temperature and humidity remain typical for an office or lobby space. Foam core is not rated for outdoor or semi-outdoor walls where moisture reaches the panel.

- Accepted File Formats
- PDF, PNG, JPG, AI. Vector files (AI or PDF with embedded vectors) work best for logos because they scale to any sign size without losing edge sharpness.
- Resolution
- Minimum 150 DPI (dots per inch, the measure of print detail density), recommended 300 DPI. At 300 DPI, text and logo edges stay crisp at close reading distance, typically 3 to 6 ft from the wall.
- Bleed
- 0.25 in on all sides. Bleed is extra artwork that extends beyond the trim edge so color runs fully to the panel edge after cutting.
- Safe Zone
- Keep all text and logos at least 0.5 in from the trim edge. Anything closer risks getting clipped during cutting.
- Color Mode
- Submit files in CMYK (cyan, magenta, yellow, black), not RGB. RGB is a screen color system. CMYK matches how we print, so your colors come out on the foam core face closer to what you see on screen.
Upload your sign artwork and our team sends you a free digital proof showing the exact print layout and trim lines within 24 hours.

Care instructions
Product care
- Wipe the printed face with a lightly damp cloth to remove dust or smudges. Do not use abrasive cloths or solvent-based cleaners. Those products scratch or dull the UV-cured surface, and that damage is not reversible.
- Keep foam core wall signs away from prolonged direct sunlight through windows. Extended UV exposure from sunlight can yellow the white face and fade ink over time, even indoors. Store any spare panels flat in a dry location, because stacking them on edge or leaning them at an angle for long periods causes the board to bow.
- And if you mount with adhesive strips, follow the strip manufacturer's removal instructions when taking a sign down. Pulling strips incorrectly can tear the wall surface or the back face of the panel.
