Direct UV Print on 3/16 In Rigid Foam Core
Direct UV print (ink cured instantly by ultraviolet light directly on the panel surface) bonds to 3/16 in foam core and gives you a scratch-resistant, crisp finish. It holds up through handling and mounting. The result is a smooth, flat face with no laminate layer sitting between your artwork and the viewer. Bold text stays sharp at 24x36 in. And because the ink cures on contact, the surface resists scuffs from wall-mount installation without lifting or flaking.
Building-Scale Identification at a Single Address
Address numbers, building name, and property management branding all live on one sign package. Scale is large enough to read from roughly 50 to 100 ft away. Every visitor, delivery driver, and first-time client finds the correct entrance without calling ahead. That kind of visibility is not something a storefront sign can match. A2Z Printing Hub prints these panels at full building scale so your identification works from the parking lot to the front door.
Full-Color CMYK Output With Free Digital Proof
CMYK full-color output (the 4-color printing process using cyan, magenta, yellow, and black) reproduces your logo and brand colors accurately across the full panel surface. A free digital proof shows your exact layout before we run a single sheet. Color shifts and spacing errors get caught before production. Crisp edges. Accurate brand colors. No surprises at delivery.

Ideal for
Not the best fit for
Foam core is rigid and cannot flex or adhere to a curved vehicle surface. For removable vehicle branding, go with Magnetic Signs. For permanent adhesive application, choose Vehicle Decals.
Foam core is not rated for freestanding outdoor installation. For ground-mounted property entrance identification, Custom Monument Signs handle that application.
Signage that needs to roll up or move between locations belongs on Custom Banners, not a rigid panel.
How to choose
Use these buying points to choose the right Custom Building Signs configuration.
-
Exterior Mounting Calls for Aluminum, Not Foam Core
Foam core is a rigid indoor panel. Direct sun and rain cause the white face to separate from the polystyrene core over time. For any custom building sign mounting on an exterior wall exposed to weather, choose .040 aluminum (a rust-proof metal sheet roughly 1 mm thick) instead.
Aluminum holds up 5 or more years outdoors without fading or warping. Select the aluminum substrate option in the configurator before entering your dimensions.
-
Indoor Building Identification Is the Right Fit for Foam Core
Lobby directories, interior suite labels, and wayfinding panels inside a climate-controlled space are where 3/16 in foam core performs well. It's rigid, lightweight, and costs less than acrylic or aluminum at the same panel size. Order your indoor panels here and pair them with Custom Lobby Signs for the reception area.
-
Multi-Sign Packages Benefit From a Consistent Substrate
Property managers ordering signs across an entire building get the cleanest result when every panel uses the same substrate and print method. Upload your brand standards once and we apply them across every panel in the order. That said, if some panels mount indoors and others face weather, split the order: foam core for interior locations, aluminum for exterior faces.

Viewing Distance Determines Minimum Letter Height
-
Signs Read From 20 to 50 ft
Letters need to be at least 3 to 4 in tall. Suite identification panels near a building entrance typically fall in this range.
-
Signs Read From 50 to 100 ft
Letters need to be at least 6 to 12 in tall. Building name panels and address numbers mounted above the second floor usually sit in this zone. Measure your mounting height and viewer distance before finalizing your layout, then use our free design tool to check letter size at scale.
Pair it with
Complete the Property Signage System
Your building sign covers the exterior. These three products carry your identity from the entrance all the way through the interior. Custom Lobby Signs anchor the reception area with the same brand identity visible from the street. Custom Directory Signs list every tenant or department for visitors arriving at the main entrance. Custom Directional Arrow Signs guide guests from the lobby to the correct suite or floor without confusion.
Alternative Materials for Exterior or Upgraded Applications
Foam core is rated for indoor use. When your panel mounts outdoors in direct sun or rain, or when your lobby calls for a floating dimensional look, these two materials handle it better. Metal Signs (.040 aluminum, rust-proof, rated 5 or more years outdoors) replace foam core for any exterior wall application. Acrylic Signs (1/4 in clear plexiglass with standoff mounts) give a lobby or reception area a sharp, dimensional finish foam core cannot match.
Storefront and Facade Pairing
Custom Storefront Signs cover the street-level facade below your building sign, so your property reads as one complete branded exterior from sidewalk to roofline.
Temporary Messaging Alongside Permanent Panels
Custom Banners handle leasing promotions and seasonal announcements on the same building without replacing your permanent identification panels. Window Decals add crisp branding to glass surfaces at the entrance level without any mounting hardware.
FAQs
Get your artwork right
We accept PDF, PNG, JPG, and AI files. AI (Adobe Illustrator vector format) is the best choice for logos because vector art scales to any panel size without losing edge sharpness.
- Resolution
- 300 DPI at final print size is the target. 150 DPI is the floor. Anything below 150 DPI at print size will show soft edges on a large building sign panel.
- Bleed
- 0.25 in on all sides. This gives us a clean trim line with no white edges.
- Safe zone
- Keep all text and logos at least 0.5 in from each edge so nothing gets cut during trimming.
- Color mode
- Submit files in CMYK. RGB files convert to CMYK at proof stage, and that shift can move brand colors noticeably. CMYK files print exactly as you set them up.

Care instructions
Cleaning
- Wipe foam core panels with a lightly damp cloth to remove dust and surface dirt. Do not soak the panel or use abrasive scrubbers. Either will lift the face material away from the polystyrene core.
- Keep foam core away from prolonged direct sunlight and moisture. This substrate is rated for indoor use only. Outdoor exposure causes the face to separate from the core over time.
Storage and Mounting
- Store panels flat when not mounted. Leaning a foam core panel against a wall at an angle for more than a few days can cause bowing that is difficult to reverse.
- Inspect adhesive strips or frame channels roughly once a year. Foam core is lightweight, but mounting hardware can loosen on smooth painted walls over time. Re-secure any panel that shows movement before it falls.
