4 Mil PVC Calendar Film With Permanent Adhesive
4 mil white PVC calendar film bonds to painted truck hoods with permanent adhesive. It's a thin but sturdy vinyl rated for outdoor use. Holds through road vibration, rain, and direct sun for 3 to 5 years. Calendar film conforms to flat and slightly curved hood surfaces without lifting at the edges or bubbling under heat. And when you're ready to remove it, a heat gun and slow peel pull the decal clean without damaging factory paint. Scratch resistance. No peeling mid-season.
UV Printing at 720 DPI Minimum on a Die-Cut Shape
UV printing at 720 DPI minimum cures ink instantly under ultraviolet light. You get a scratch-resistant, waterproof surface with crisp color that does not fade under daily sun exposure. A2Z Printing Hub runs every hood decal through UV output so the color you approve in the proof is the color that shows up on the truck. Bold reds stay bold. Sharp lines stay sharp. That matters most on a hood, where the graphic sits flat in direct sunlight all day.
Hood-Scale Sizing Up to 58.5 In Wide
Die-cut finishing lets us cut your decal to any custom shape. The 58.5 in maximum width covers most full-size truck hoods in a single piece with no seam. Most full-size hoods run roughly 50 to 58 in across. Orders wider than 58.5 in ship in two pieces with alignment guides included. One continuous graphic reads cleaner than tiled pieces, so sizing to fit the full panel is worth measuring before you upload.

Ideal for
Not the best fit for
Full truck wraps covering the entire vehicle surface are outside what we print. We produce decals for specific placement areas. A local wrap installer handles full-coverage jobs.
Temporary hood graphics that need daily removal are not a good match for permanent adhesive. Magnetic Signs attach and remove without adhesive and are the right call for trucks that switch between personal and business use.
One-way see-through graphics on rear glass need perforated vinyl, which you'll find under our Window Decals product line.
How to choose
Use these buying points to choose the right Custom Truck Hood Decals configuration.
-
Sizing Your Decal to the Truck Hood Panel
Measure your hood from the grille edge to the windshield base, then side to side at the widest point. Most full-size truck hoods run 50 to 58 in wide, which fits within our 58.5 in single-piece limit. If your hood runs wider than 58.5 in, order a two-piece set. We include alignment guides so the seam lines up cleanly across the panel.
-
Single Graphic Versus Tiled Multi-Piece Layout
One large die-cut decal reads more boldly from a distance than several small pieces placed separately. Go with a single decal sized to fill the hood panel. If your design has two separate elements (a logo on one side, a tagline on the other), upload them as one file. We cut each shape individually on the same backing sheet so alignment stays consistent during application.
-
Fleet Order Versus Single-Truck Order
-
Ordering for One Truck
Pick your size, upload your artwork on a transparent background for die-cut shapes, and approve the digital proof before we print. Production starts within 1 business day of approval.
-
Ordering for a Fleet
Fleet orders of 5 or more trucks qualify for volume pricing, applied automatically at checkout. Order all trucks in one batch so every hood graphic matches in color and cut. Consistent placement across the fleet makes the branding read as intentional. Fleet orders of 10 or more trucks may add 1 to 2 production days.
-
Die-Cut Shape Versus Full Rectangular Sheet
Die-cut to your design shape when your artwork has a defined silhouette: a logo, a flame graphic, a name in custom lettering. A rectangular sheet works when your design fills the full hood area edge to edge with no background showing. For die-cut orders, upload on a transparent background so we cut around the exact outline. No guessing, no trimming on your end.
Pair it with
Complete the Full-Truck Branding Set
Your hood carries the logo overhead and head-on. Pair it with placement decals that cover every other visible panel so the truck reads as a complete branded vehicle, not a single graphic.
The Removable Alternative for Dual-Use Trucks
Permanent adhesive is not the right call for a truck that switches between personal and business use daily. Magnetic Signs attach in seconds and come off just as fast, leaving zero residue on the paint.
Other Truck Placement Options
Still have hood space covered but want graphics on other surfaces? These products handle the remaining placement areas on your truck.
Take the Brand Off the Road
The same logo on your hood reads well on a storefront too. These products extend your identity from the truck to your business location.
FAQs
Will a Hood Decal Damage My Factory Paint When I Remove It?
No, it will not, as long as your factory paint is fully cured before application. Use a heat gun on low and peel slowly from one corner. Any adhesive residue left on the paint cleans off with rubbing alcohol or Goo Gone without lifting the finish. That said, aftermarket paint or a fresh respray under 30 days old may react differently. Wait at least 30 days after repainting before applying.
How Long Will a Truck Hood Decal Hold Up Through Daily Driving and Weather?
The 4 mil white PVC calendar film carries a 3 to 5 year outdoor rating. UV printing cures ink under ultraviolet light, locking in color that resists fading through direct sun, rain, and road debris. Normal road vibration does not loosen the permanent adhesive on painted metal. Most buyers see no visible color shift through the first 2 years of daily use.
Do Custom Truck Hood Decals Hold Up Through Automatic Car Washes?
Yes, after the first 72 hours. The permanent adhesive needs that full cure window to bond completely to the hood surface. For the first 2 weeks, hand wash around the decal and avoid directing high-pressure spray at the edges. After 2 weeks, normal automatic car wash use is fine.
Can I Apply a Large Hood Decal Myself Without Getting Bubbles or Misalignment?
Most buyers apply hood decals solo on full-size truck panels without issues. We include a squeegee and step-by-step instructions with every order. Start from the center of the decal and work outward toward the edges. For decals wider than 48 in, a second person holding the far edge steady during initial placement makes alignment easier.
Will the Matte Finish Show Scratches or Scuffs From Road Debris?
Light surface scuffs can appear on any matte finish over time. The UV-printed surface resists scratching better than standard inkjet vinyl, but it is not impervious to sharp road debris at highway speed. Clean the decal with mild soap and water rather than abrasive products, which dull the surface faster. Avoid wax directly on the decal face.
Get your artwork right
Custom Truck Hood Decals are die-cut to your exact design outline, so file setup matters before you upload.
- Accepted formats
- PDF, PNG, JPG, AI. Vector files (AI or PDF) are best for logos because they scale to hood size without softening edges.
- Resolution
- 150 DPI minimum. For any decal under 4 ft in either dimension, 300 DPI keeps edges tight where viewers get close enough to spot a soft line.
- Bleed
- 0.25 in on all sides. This prevents a white border from showing if the cut runs slightly outside the design edge.
- Safe zone
- Keep text and logos at least 0.5 in from the cut edge so nothing gets clipped.
- Color mode
- CMYK, not RGB. CMYK is the 4-color printing process our press uses. RGB files shift color at output, so converting before upload gives you the most accurate color match.
- For die-cut orders
- Upload your artwork on a transparent background. That's how we trace the exact cut line around your design. Also account for any raised body panel ridge running across the hood surface when placing text or detail elements.
Use our free online design tool at checkout, or add our professional design service if you need a hand building the file. Submit your artwork on a transparent background for die-cut decals and our team sends you a free digital proof within 24 hours.

Product care

- Clean the decal face with mild soap and water. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvent-based products, or wax directly on the decal surface. To remove, apply low heat from a heat gun and peel slowly from one corner.
