How to orderSpecifications
Custom Photo Banners turn a full-resolution photo or photo collage into a large-format print on PVC Flex vinyl or soft polyester fabric. Both materials are available in the configurator above. Custom Photo Banners work best for memorial tributes, birthday timelines, retirement collages, and team photo displays where the image needs to fill the entire banner face.
- Material
- PVC Flex vinyl (smooth, glossy surface) or polyester fabric (soft drape, no glare).Vinyl suits outdoor and indoor setups. Fabric is best for indoor receptions and memorial services.
- Print Method
- Eco-solvent inkjet on vinyl. Dye sublimation on fabric.Eco-solvent inks are weather-resistant and hold color outdoors roughly 6 to 12 months.
- Color Output
- CMYK full color. The 4-color process covers the full banner face so photo gradients reproduce accurately without banding.
- Finishing
- Brass grommets every 2 ft. Pole pockets along top or bottom edge. Hem and heat weld border seal. Each option suits a different hanging method: hooks, rods, or frames.
- Size Range
- Custom sizes available. Banners wider or taller than 10 ft include a welded seam (a heat-bonded join line) to hold the full panel without tearing.
- Indoor/Outdoor Rating
- Vinyl rates 6 to 12 months outdoors with UV-resistant eco-solvent inks. Fabric handles indoor use and light outdoor exposure only.
- Single/Double-Sided
- Single-sided is standard. Double-sided adds a blockout liner (a white layer between front and back prints) that stops image show-through.
- Weight
- 11 oz vinyl for indoor or light-duty use. 16 oz vinyl for outdoor setups exposed to wind or direct sun.Heavier weight resists edge tearing and wind stress on longer outdoor runs.

- Full-Color CMYK Output via Eco-Solvent or Dye Sublimation Printing
- Brass Grommets, Pole Pockets, or Hem and Heat Weld Finishing
Photo-First Layout on 11 oz or 16 oz PVC Flex Vinyl
PVC Flex vinyl (a smooth, glossy outdoor material) comes in two weights for two very different jobs. The 11 oz weight suits indoor reception halls, memorial service rooms, and party venues where the banner hangs flat against a wall. The 16 oz weight handles outdoor setups: backyard fences, yard stakes, and building-front displays where wind stress hits the edges. Your photo fills the entire face. No text blocks crowding the image, no logo accent in the corner. Just the photo, printed large and bold across the full surface.
Full-Color CMYK Output via Eco-Solvent or Dye Sublimation Printing
A2Z Printing Hub runs eco-solvent inkjet on vinyl and dye sublimation on fabric. Both methods output CMYK full color (the 4-color process using cyan, magenta, yellow, and black). Eco-solvent inks bond to vinyl and hold color outdoors for 6 to 12 months. Dye sublimation absorbs ink directly into fabric fibers, so the print won't crack or peel indoors. Skin tones, soft gradients, and detailed backgrounds all reproduce with crisp color accuracy across every inch of the banner face.
Brass Grommets, Pole Pockets, or Hem and Heat Weld Finishing
Three finishing options cover every hanging setup you're likely to face. Brass grommets (metal rings punched into the banner edges) space every 2 ft so you can hang with hooks, zip ties, or rope. Pole pockets are fabric sleeves along the top or bottom edge that slide onto any standard rod. Hem and heat weld folds and seals the border with heat for a clean, sturdy edge on frame-mounted displays. Pick the one that fits your venue. No extra hardware needed.

Ideal for
Not the best fit for
Ongoing retail or business signage that stays up longer than 12 months outdoors. [Custom Vinyl Banners] built for long-term outdoor use handle that job better.
Trade show or corporate event backdrops where a branded layout matters more than a single photo. [Fabric Banners] designed for trade show use are the right call there.
Step and repeat photo walls where a tiled logo grid is the goal. [Step and Repeat Banners] are built specifically for that setup.
How to choose
Use these buying points to choose the right Custom Photo Banners configuration.
-
Choosing Between Vinyl and Fabric for Your Photo Banner
Vinyl suits outdoor parties, yard displays, and any setup where budget matters and the banner hangs in open air. Fabric works best for indoor memorial services, anniversary receptions, or baby shower backdrops where a soft, glare-free surface keeps the image readable under venue lighting. Both materials output CMYK full color, so the photo itself prints accurately on either. Upload your file and select your material in the configurator above.
-
Picking the Right Vinyl Weight for Your Display Location
-
Short-Term or Indoor Use
Go with 11 oz vinyl for indoor walls, table backdrops, and outdoor setups lasting under 3 months. It's lighter and easier to handle at large sizes.
-
Outdoor or Extended Use
Pick 16 oz vinyl for any banner exposed to wind or direct sun for longer runs. The heavier weight resists edge tearing and holds flat against wind stress. Honestly, if you are unsure about conditions, 16 oz is the safer call for outdoor photo banners every time.
-
Sizing Your Photo Banner for the Viewing Distance
A 3 ft x 5 ft banner reads clearly from roughly 15 ft away. That covers most indoor reception halls and covered patios. For a yard display visible from the street, go 4 ft x 8 ft or larger. Upload your photo at 300 DPI (dots per inch, the measure of image sharpness at print size) so faces and detail areas stay crisp at that scale. Banners wider or taller than 10 ft include a welded seam to hold the full panel together.
-
Deciding on the Right Finishing for Your Hanging Setup
Grommets (brass rings punched every 2 ft along the edges) handle most outdoor and indoor setups using hooks, zip ties, or rope. Pole pockets fit any banner mounted on a rod or pipe, which works well for fabric backdrops at indoor receptions. Hem and heat weld alone suits frame-mounted displays where no hanging hardware touches the banner face. Pick your finishing option in the configurator before you upload your artwork.
Pair it with
Dress the Space Around the Photo Display
Your photo banner fills the wall. These products finish the rest of the setup. An A-Frame Sign directs guests straight to the display area from the entrance. Table Covers dress the gift or cake table sitting directly beneath the banner. Canopy Tents shelter an outdoor photo banner from sun and light rain so the vinyl stays flat and the colors stay bold.
Same Full-Photo Layout, Softer Material
Fabric Banners give you the identical full-photo print on soft polyester with no glare. That works better at indoor receptions and memorial services where vinyl's glossy surface picks up reflections.
Add a Text-Forward Banner to the Same Celebration
A photo banner handles the image. These handle the words. Pair a Custom Birthday Banner or Custom Graduation Banner when you want bold celebration text alongside a separate large photo display at the same event.
FAQs
What Resolution Does My Photo Need to Print Without Blurring at Banner Size?
300 DPI (dots per inch) at your final print size is the target. That said, 150 DPI is the floor we can work with on very large formats where viewers stand farther back. Uploading a low-resolution phone screenshot on a 4 ft x 6 ft banner is where most buyers run into soft edges or visible pixelation. Our free proof shows you the layout before we print, so you can catch any sharpness issues before the order locks.
Can I Build a Collage Layout With Multiple Photos on One Banner?
Yes. Our free online design tool lets you upload several photos, arrange them across the banner face, and add text if needed. A professional design service is also available if you want help building a retirement timeline or memorial collage from a batch of older images. Either way, we send a digital proof within 24 hours so you can confirm every photo placement before production starts.
Will I See a Proof Before It Prints?
Every order gets a free digital proof within 24 hours of submission. Review photo placement, color, and any text on that proof carefully. Approve it before 12 PM EST and your banner moves into production the same day. We do not start printing until you sign off, so the layout you approve is exactly what ships.
What Happens If My Banner Arrives Damaged or the Colors Look Wrong?
We reprint it at no charge. If the banner arrives damaged in transit or the printed colors do not match the approved proof, contact us and we sort it out. This applies to both vinyl and fabric orders regardless of size.
How Quickly Can I Get My Order Before My Event?
Standard production runs 1 to 2 business days after proof approval. Total delivery typically lands around 3 to 5 business days depending on your location and the shipping method you choose at checkout. Rush shipping options are available for tighter timelines. Ordering earlier in the week gives you the most buffer before a weekend event.
Get your artwork right
Resolution is the first thing that matters on a photo banner. At 150 DPI (dots per inch, the measure of image sharpness at a given print size), your photo prints acceptably. At 300 DPI, edges stay crisp and faces read clearly from 10 ft away. Phone camera JPGs often fall below 150 DPI at 4 ft x 8 ft, so check your file size before uploading.
- Accepted Formats
- PDF, PNG, JPG, AI. PDF or AI (vector files that scale without losing detail) are best for any text elements in your layout.
- Resolution
- 150 DPI minimum at final print size. 300 DPI recommended for photo-heavy layouts.
- Bleed
- 0.25 in on all sides. This extra artwork beyond the trim line stops white edges from appearing after cutting.
- Safe Zone
- Keep all faces and text at least 0.5 in inside the trim line.
- Color Mode
- CMYK, not RGB. CMYK matches how we print, so your colors come out on vinyl the same way they look on screen.
Our free online design tool lets you upload and place your photo directly on the banner canvas. Need a collage or timeline built from multiple photos? Our professional design service handles that. Submit your banner artwork as a print-ready PDF and our team sends you a free digital proof within 24 hours.

Care instructions
Vinyl Photo Banners
- Wipe the surface with a damp cloth and mild soap. Do not machine wash, and avoid abrasive tools that can dull the printed surface or scratch the photo detail.
- Roll the banner for storage rather than folding it. A fold line across a face is tough to remove. Store rolled vinyl in a cool, dry place away from direct sun. If a crease forms, lay the banner flat in direct sunlight for about 30 minutes to relax it back flat.
Fabric Photo Banners
- Machine wash cold with mild detergent and tumble dry on low. Steam or iron on low heat to remove any wrinkles before hanging.
- Fabric folds for storage without creasing the print. Still, keep it away from prolonged moisture and sharp objects that can snag the woven surface.
