Use these buying points to choose the right Custom Homecoming Banners configuration.

1. Vinyl Weight Matches Your Mounting Location

   Your location decides the weight. Go with 11 oz for indoor gym walls, hallway displays, and dance venue backdrops where wind is not a factor. The 11 oz material hangs flat against painted cinder-block and stays taut under gym lighting without pulling mounting hardware.

   But outdoor locations are a different call entirely. Choose 16 oz for any stadium fence, exterior wall, or open-air field where the banner faces wind. The heavier vinyl holds taut between fence posts without sagging mid-panel. Add your weight selection in the configurator above before moving to size.

2. Size Fits the Space and the Viewing Distance

   A 4 ft x 8 ft banner covers a standard gym wall section and reads clearly from roughly 40 ft away. That size works behind a pep rally stage or above a scorer's table. For a full stadium fence run, order in sections of 8 ft x 20 ft or larger so the display reads as one continuous line from the bleachers.

   Here's the thing: text size matters as much as banner size. Use roughly 1 inch of letter height per 10 ft of viewing distance. Size your text before you upload so the mascot and school name both read clearly from the stands.

3. Finishing Matches How You Hang the Banner

   Grommets every 2 ft work for fence mounting with zip ties or bungee cords and for gym wall mounting with hooks. Pole pockets give a cleaner look for stage backdrops where a rod slides through the top edge. Hem and heat weld alone suits banners that clip into a frame system.

4. Single Season or Annual Reuse

   For single-season use, 11 oz with grommets keeps cost down and still holds through a full homecoming week. For annual reuse, step up to 16 oz and roll the banner around a cardboard tube after the event. A rolled 16 oz banner stored in a cool, dry space typically lasts 3 or more seasons without cracking or color loss.

Resolution determines how sharp your mascot and team name look at full banner size. We accept PDF, PNG, JPG, and AI files. Minimum 150 DPI at your final print dimensions. For any banner under 4 ft, or for mascot graphics where students get within 10 ft, go with 300 DPI. Soft edges show up at close range and the proof is where you'll catch them.

Color mode

Set your color mode to CMYK before you upload. RGB files convert to CMYK at proof stage and colors may shift slightly, which matters when your school's exact colors are on the line. Build in 0.25 in of bleed on all four sides (extra artwork beyond the trim line). Keep all text and logos at least 0.5 in inside the trim line so nothing gets cut off.
