How to orderSpecifications
Custom Street Banners run on PVC Flex vinyl at 11 oz or 16 oz, built for sustained outdoor exposure on cable spans, pole brackets, and building-mounted hardware. Most orders fall between 3x6 ft and 4x8 ft, though custom sizing is available. The 16 oz weight is the right call for any open-air install that stays up through multiple weather cycles.

- Brass grommets every 2 ft. Pole pockets. Hem and heat weld. Each option matches a specific mounting type: cable tie-off, bracket rod, or frame channel.

Heavy-Duty PVC Flex Vinyl Built for Streetscape Exposure
Street banners face sustained wind, direct sun, and weeks of rain. PVC Flex vinyl (a smooth, glossy outdoor material) runs 11 oz or 16 oz on every street banner we print. The 16 oz weight holds flat under sustained wind and direct sun for 6 to 12 months outdoors. A banner hung in April is still taut and bold come October. And the 11 oz handles shorter-run installs or covered mounting locations where the exposure is lighter. Worth knowing: the heavier the vinyl, the less center-span sag you get on a cable suspension across a wide street.
Cable, Bracket, and Building-Mount Finishing Options
Your mounting hardware determines which finishing your banner needs, and we cover all three setups. Brass grommets install every 2 ft along the edges for rope or cable tie-off on cable-suspension spans. Pole pockets are fabric sleeves sewn along the top or bottom edge for rod or bracket insertion on lamp post hardware. Hem and heat weld (folded edges sealed with heat for a clean, reinforced border) works best when the banner clips into a building-mounted frame channel. But here's the thing: you do not have to guess which one fits. Pick your mounting type at checkout and the finishing matches automatically. A2Z Printing Hub builds each finishing option to handle the specific load and weather exposure of its mount type.
Full-Color CMYK Output on Single or Double-Sided Prints
CMYK full-color printing (the 4-color process using cyan, magenta, yellow, and black) runs on both single-sided and double-sided builds. Single-sided covers most building-facade and bracket installs. For banners spanning across a street where drivers approach from both directions, order double-sided with a blockout liner. That white layer between front and back prints stops show-through and keeps each side crisp and readable. Colors stay sharp at 30 ft of viewing distance, which is roughly the gap between a moving vehicle and a cable-hung street banner. Bold graphics. Readable from a moving car.

Ideal for
Not the best fit for
Standard retail storefront or business signage does not need a large-format streetscape mount. Custom Vinyl Banners handle those jobs at a lower cost per square foot.
Indoor trade show backdrops and lobby displays call for something lighter. Fabric Banners drape cleanly without the extra outdoor-rated weight.
Personal celebrations like birthdays or graduations rarely need street-scale sizing or cable-suspension hardware. Event Banners cover those occasions at the right format and price.
How to choose
Use these buying points to choose the right Custom Street Banners configuration.
-
Vinyl Weight Matches Your Mounting Location
Not every outdoor location puts the same stress on a banner. Cable suspension across an open street corridor exposes the full face to wind pressure with no shelter on either side. Go with 16 oz for any open-air cable span or unsheltered building facade mount that stays up longer than 90 days. The added stiffness keeps the center taut instead of bowing.
Choose 11 oz only when the mount is covered, sheltered, or short-run (under 8 weeks outdoors).
-
Finishing Follows Your Hardware
Your mounting hardware determines your finishing choice, not the other way around. Order brass grommets if you're tying to cable, rope, or railing anchors. Grommets space every 2 ft along the edges, so a 4x8 ft banner gets roughly 8 attachment points.
Choose pole pockets when your bracket uses a horizontal rod that slides through the top and bottom edge. Hem and heat weld works best when the banner clips into a frame channel or track system.
-
Banner Size Fits the Viewing Distance
-
Reading Distance for Street-Level Viewers
A 3x6 ft banner with 3 in letter height reads clearly from roughly 27 ft. That covers most pedestrian-speed viewing from a sidewalk or crosswalk. Use 1 in of letter height per 9 ft of viewing distance as your sizing anchor before you finalize the layout.
-
Wider Streets and Vehicle Traffic
A 4x8 ft banner gives you more surface area for faster viewing windows. Drivers approaching at street speed have a shorter moment to read, so bigger text and fewer words matter more than design detail. Size up when the corridor is wider than two lanes or the banner spans a four-way intersection.
-
Single-Sided or Double-Sided Output
Most building-facade and pole-bracket installs face one direction. Single-sided covers those. Order double-sided with a blockout liner when the banner spans across a street. Traffic approaching from both ends of the block needs a readable face on each side, and the blockout layer stops show-through between prints.
Pair it with
Layer the Streetscape from Pole to Cable
Street banners span overhead, but the lamp posts along the same corridor can carry their own signage at eye level. Custom Pole Banners mount on individual bracket hardware and repeat your event branding all the way down the block, giving the full streetscape a coordinated look from curb to cable.
Close the Gap at Street Level
Overhead banners mark the zone. Ground-level signs direct people into it. A-Frame Signs placed at pedestrian entry points and street corners keep foot traffic moving toward the event area your street banners are already marking from above.
Cover the Festival Footprint Below
Your street banners define the corridor overhead. Canopy Tents set up in the festival footprint below give vendors and organizers covered space that visually connects to the banner display above. Custom Flags planted at entry points add a second layer of visibility at curb level.
Replace Seasonal with Permanent
Street banners on 16 oz vinyl hold outdoors for 6 to 12 months. But any district identity element that needs to stay up year-round past that window belongs on a different surface. Custom Signs in aluminum or metal take over where seasonal vinyl leaves off.
FAQs
Get your artwork right
Resolution sets the floor for print quality on large-format streetscape banners. We need a minimum of 150 DPI at final print size. For any banner under 4 ft wide where pedestrians walk close enough to read fine text, 300 DPI keeps edges sharp and type crisp.
- Accepted Formats
- PDF, PNG, JPG, or AI. Vector files (AI or PDF built from vector art) are the best choice for logos because they scale to 4x8 ft without softening.
- Bleed
- 0.25 in beyond the trim line on all four sides. This prevents white edges after cutting.
- Safe Zone
- Keep all text and logos at least 0.5 in inside the trim line. Anything closer risks getting clipped during finishing.
- Color Mode
- CMYK, not RGB. RGB is a screen color space. CMYK matches how our presses lay ink, so the colors you see in your file are the colors that come out on the vinyl. For double-sided orders, supply two separate files, one per side.
Our free online design tool at checkout handles layout from scratch. A professional design service is also available if you need artwork built from an existing logo or adapted from a previous season's files.

Care instructions
Product care
- Wipe the vinyl surface with a damp cloth and mild soap to remove dirt, bird droppings, or road dust. Do not use abrasive cleaners or pressure wash at close range, as both can lift the ink surface and dull the finish.
- Roll your street banner around a tube for storage rather than folding it. Folding creates crease lines in PVC Flex vinyl that do not fully relax. Store rolled banners in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight between seasons, since heat and UV exposure during storage shortens ink life.
- But if a crease forms from improper storage, lay the banner flat in direct sunlight for roughly 30 minutes. The vinyl relaxes and the crease typically softens without permanent damage.
