Specifications

Custom Pole Banners mount on street light poles and parking lot lamp posts using bracket hardware. Both weight options use PVC Flex vinyl, a smooth, glossy material that holds ink through months of sun, rain, and temperature swings. Pole pockets top and bottom make rod insertion clean and fast for installation crews.

Material
PVC Flex vinyl.Holds ink without cracking through sustained outdoor exposure across both weight options.
Print Method
Eco-solvent or UV inkjet.Weather-resistant inks bond directly to the vinyl surface and stay bold through 6 to 12 months outdoors.
Color Output
CMYK full color.Covers the full visible spectrum for logos, photos, and text on both faces.
Finishing
Pole pockets top and bottom. Grommets (brass, every 2 ft) and hem and heat weld also available.Choose based on your mounting hardware: rods use pole pockets, hooks or zip ties use grommets.
Size Range
Typically 18x36 in or 24x48 in for standard pole bracket hardware. Banners over 10 ft include a welded seam for structural integrity.Confirm your bracket rod span before ordering a custom size outside those ranges.
Indoor/Outdoor Rating
Rated for both. Outdoor life runs roughly 6 to 12 months with UV-resistant inks in direct sun. Indoor display lasts longer with no weather exposure.
Single/Double-Sided
Single-sided standard. Double-sided with blockout liner available so each face prints independently without color bleed-through.
Weight
11 oz for shorter campaigns or sheltered locations. 16 oz for open street poles and multi-month outdoor runs.Heavier weight means a tougher, more durable banner in sustained wind.

Narrow Vertical Format Built for Street Light Poles and Lamp Posts

Custom Pole Banners run on 11 oz or 16 oz PVC Flex vinyl, a smooth, glossy outdoor material. Typical sizes are 18x36 in or 24x48 in. That sizing fits standard pole bracket hardware without trimming or reworking on-site. And because the dimensions match what installers expect, your crew moves down the block faster instead of fighting a misfit banner at height.

Double-Sided Printing Visible From Both Traffic Directions

Full-color CMYK printing (the 4-color process using cyan, magenta, yellow, and black) runs on both faces of the banner. A blockout liner, which is a white layer pressed between the front and back prints, stops color from bleeding through to the opposite side. Drivers approaching from either direction see a crisp, bold image. Not a faint ghost of the other face. A2Z Printing Hub runs this blockout layer as a standard option on every double-sided order, so you don't configure it separately.

Pole Pockets Top and Bottom for Clean Rod Insertion

Pole pockets are fabric sleeves sewn along the top and bottom edges. A mounting rod slides straight through without threading clips or wrestling with grommets at height. Installation crews spend less time on the pole and more time moving to the next lamp post. Grommets (brass rings punched every 2 ft) and hem and heat weld (folded edges sealed with heat) are also available if your mounting hardware calls for them.

Ideal for

Downtown main corridors where a municipality hangs banners on every lamp post to signal a seasonal event or district identity.
Parking lot lamp posts at shopping centers where a 24x48 in banner at roughly 12 ft to 15 ft catches drivers before the entrance.
University campus light poles along pedestrian walkways marking homecoming week, graduation season, or donor campaign messaging.
Festival routes where event organizers mount banners on consecutive street light poles so attendees follow the visual trail from parking to venue.
City parks and recreation departments swapping banners each quarter on park entrance poles to mark seasonal programming.
Sports arenas using parking lot lamp posts to display team colors and game-day messaging visible from the lot entrance.
Hospital and medical campus poles where wayfinding banners guide patients from the street to the correct building entrance.
Business improvement districts running a unified streetscape look with matching pole banners across an entire commercial block.

Not the best fit for

Standard storefront or retail facade signage reads better in a wider horizontal format. Custom Vinyl Banners handle that job.

Indoor trade show backdrops and lobby displays need a no-glare fabric drape that holds up under event lighting. Fabric Banners are the better fit there.

Large streetscape displays spanning across a street or hanging from a building facade need a wider format than a pole banner delivers. Custom Street Banners cover that use case.

How to choose

Use these buying points to choose the right Custom Pole Banners configuration.

  1. Vinyl Weight Matched to Your Pole Location

Sheltered campus walkways and covered parking structures stay calm enough for 11 oz vinyl, especially on campaigns running under 8 weeks. Open street light poles on main corridors face sustained wind through rain, heat, and cold, so 16 oz is the tougher, heavier choice there. It holds shape through a full season without sagging at the pole pockets. Order a sample swatch if you're unsure, then set your weight in the configurator above.

  2. Single-Sided Versus Double-Sided Printing

Single-sided works cleanly when traffic or foot traffic approaches from one direction only: a one-way entrance lane or a parking lot drive aisle. Double-sided with a blockout liner stops color from bleeding through between faces. That's the right call for two-way streets and intersections where drivers approach from opposite sides. Add the double-sided option before you upload artwork, because the two faces need separate art files.

  3. Banner Size and Bracket Fit

Standard pole bracket hardware fits 18x36 in and 24x48 in banners without trimming. Those two sizes cover most municipalities and shopping center lamp posts. Confirm your bracket's rod span top to bottom before you order a custom size outside those ranges. Mismatched rod span and pole pocket spacing means a reinstall trip, and that's a cost nobody budgets for.

  4. Finishing for Your Mounting Method

Pole pockets top and bottom are what most installation crews expect for bracket-mounted pole banners. Grommets work if your hardware uses hooks or zip ties instead of rods. Note your mounting method in the order comments so we can confirm the fit before production starts.

Pair it with

Cover the Full Streetscape Corridor

Pole banners handle individual lamp posts. Custom Street Banners cover the wider spans across intersections or building facades, so a district campaign uses both together for full corridor coverage from block to block.

Close the Gap at Ground Level

Pole banners mount at roughly 12 ft to 15 ft on lamp posts. A-Frame Signs placed at sidewalk level give pedestrians a second touchpoint right at the entrance. Your message lands at both heights.

Extend the Branded Zone Beyond the Pole Line

Custom Flags planted at parking lot entrances push the branded zone outward. Custom Vinyl Mesh Banners on perimeter fencing extend it further, so attendees encounter your identity well before they reach the first lamp post.

Add Permanent Wayfinding Alongside Seasonal Rotation

Custom Signs handle year-round directional messaging while pole banners rotate each quarter on the same poles. Canopy Tents anchor outdoor event footprints when the streetscape branding draws crowds to a central gathering point.

FAQs

How Long Will Custom Pole Banners Hold Up on an Outdoor Street Light Pole?

On 16 oz PVC Flex vinyl with UV-resistant inks, expect roughly 6 to 9 months of outdoor life on an exposed main-corridor pole in direct sun. Sheltered campus or parking lot poles running 11 oz typically hold well through a single seasonal campaign of 8 to 10 weeks. Wind is the bigger stress factor than sun, so a protected location extends both weight options considerably.

Do Pole Banners Include the Mounting Bracket Hardware?

Bracket hardware is sold separately or as a kit alongside the printed banner. The banners ship with pole pockets top and bottom sized for standard round street light poles. Confirm your pole diameter with your facilities team before ordering the hardware kit so the bracket arms match your existing poles.

Can I Get a Proof Before My Pole Banners Go to Print?

Yes. We send a free digital proof within 24 hours of every order. Production does not start until you approve it. For double-sided orders, the proof shows both faces separately so you can check each image before it goes to press.

What Happens If My Pole Banners Arrive Damaged or the Colors Look Wrong?

If your banners arrive damaged or the print does not match the approved proof, we reprint at no charge. Contact us with photos of the issue and your order number. We move quickly because most pole banner campaigns are time-sensitive.

Will the Double-Sided Blockout Liner Add Noticeable Thickness or Weight?

The blockout liner adds a small amount of thickness but stays within standard bracket tolerances for both 11 oz and 16 oz builds. You won't notice it during installation. The liner's job is stopping color bleed-through between faces, and it does that without making the banner stiff or hard to slide onto the mounting rod.

Get your artwork right

Pole banners run in a tall, narrow vertical format. Your design needs to read top to bottom in a space roughly 18 to 24 in wide, so layout choices matter more here than on a standard wide banner.

We accept PDF PNG JPG AI
Accepted formats
PDF, PNG, JPG, AI. Vector files (AI or PDF) are best for logos because they scale without softening edges.
Resolution
150 DPI minimum at final print size. Go to 300 DPI for banners 24 in wide or narrower, where passersby get close enough to spot a soft edge.
Bleed
0.25 in beyond the trim line on all four sides. This prevents white edges after cutting.
Safe zone
Keep all text and logos at least 0.5 in inside the trim line so nothing gets clipped at the pole pocket seam.
Color mode
CMYK, not RGB. CMYK matches how we print, so the colors you see in your file come out as expected on the finished vinyl.

For double-sided orders, supply two separate art files, one per face. A free online design tool is available at checkout for building your layout from scratch. Our professional design service adapts existing artwork to the narrow vertical pole banner format when needed.

Care instructions

Product care

  • Remove pole banners from brackets during severe weather, high-wind events, or ice storms. Stress on the pole pockets and grommets during extreme conditions shortens the banner's outdoor life. Wipe the vinyl surface with a damp cloth and mild soap to clear road dust, bird droppings, or grime. Do not use abrasive cleaners or a pressure washer directly on the printed face.
  • Store banners rolled, not folded, with the pole pockets protected at each end. Folding PVC Flex vinyl creates crease lines that show in the print once the banner is remounted. But if a crease does develop, lay the banner flat in direct sunlight for roughly 30 minutes. The vinyl relaxes and the crease fades before you hang it again.
