How to orderSpecifications
Custom Shark Fin Flags print on 110 GSM knitted polyester using dye sublimation for bold, fade-resistant color across the full angular silhouette. They stand 6 to 18 ft tall and mount on a steel ground spike or steel cross base. Suited for car lots, retail storefronts, and outdoor events on any surface.
- Material
- 110 GSM knitted polyester fabric.Breathable weave lets wind pass through, reducing pole stress during moderate gusts.
- Print Method
- Dye sublimation full-color printing.Ink bonds into the fibers so color will not crack, peel, or wash out at the edges.
- Color Output
- CMYK full color.CMYK (cyan, magenta, yellow, and black) reproduces logos, gradients, and photos across the full visible color range.
- Finishing
- Flag sleeve along the pole edge.Pole sections thread through the sleeve so the flag stays attached without clips or ties.
- Size Range
- 6 to 18 ft total height, flag and pole combined.Width varies with the shark fin silhouette at each height.
- Indoor/Outdoor Rating
- Rated for both indoor and outdoor use.Outdoor rating is 3 to 6 months with daily sun, wind, and light rain before fading and edge fraying become visible.
- Single/Double-Sided
- Single-sided is standard, with mirror-image show-through at roughly 80 percent visibility on the reverse.Double-sided uses two independent prints with a blockout layer (a solid white interlayer) between them.
- Weight
- 110 GSM.GSM (grams per square meter) measures fabric weight. At 110 GSM this fabric is light enough to flutter in a moderate breeze while holding printed color without distortion.

110 GSM Knitted Polyester Fabric With Dye Sublimation Color
Knitted polyester at 110 GSM absorbs dye sublimation ink straight into the weave. That's a heat-transfer process where ink bonds directly into the fibers rather than sitting on top. Color stays bold through wind flutter and light rain without cracking or peeling at the edges. The fabric is also breathable, meaning wind passes partially through the weave instead of pushing hard against a solid surface, which reduces stress on the pole during gusts. Crisp color. No surface coating to chip off.
Angular Shark Fin Silhouette on a Steel-Based Pole System
The angular dorsal fin shape reads differently from every feather or teardrop flag on the same block. That gives your location a distinct roadside identity most competitors can't match. Steel ground spikes anchor the pole in grass or soil. A steel cross base (an X-shaped flat frame) handles concrete, asphalt, or any hard surface. It pairs with a fillable water bag (roughly 15 to 20 lbs when full) for stability without drilling. Heights run 6 to 18 ft total, flag and pole combined, so you can match the flag to the scale of your lot or storefront.
Single-Sided Standard or Double-Sided With Blockout Layer
Single-sided printing lets your design show through to the reverse as a mirror image at roughly 80 percent visibility. But for locations with two-direction foot or vehicle traffic, the double-sided option adds a blockout layer (a solid white layer between two independent prints) so both sides read correctly. A2Z Printing Hub prints each side as a fully independent graphic, not a flipped copy of the other. And that matters at corner placements or parking lot islands where viewers approach from opposite directions.

Ideal for
Not the best fit for
Indoor venues with ceilings under 20 ft cannot safely stand a 6 to 18 ft flag on a pole upright. Retractable Banner Stands work better for indoor floor displays.
Knitted polyester fabric fades and frays with continuous UV exposure beyond 6 months, so this flag isn't the right call for permanent outdoor signage. Metal Signs handle long-term outdoor branding without replacement cycles.
A ground-mounted flag isn't practical for mobile or wearable brand promotion. Backpack Flags carry your brand on foot through a crowd without any base or pole.
How to choose
Use these buying points to choose the right Custom Shark Fin Flags configuration.
-
Height Depends on Your Viewing Distance and Surface Placement
Roadside car lots and storefronts on busy roads need 14 to 18 ft. That clears parked vehicle rooflines and keeps the fin readable from roughly 50 to 75 ft away. Sidewalk and entrance placements, where viewers are within 10 to 15 ft, work fine at 8 to 12 ft. Pick your height in the configurator before uploading your design, because the printable area shifts with each height tier.
-
Single-Sided or Double-Sided Printing
Choose single-sided if your flag faces one primary direction. A storefront where traffic passes on one side only is the clearest case. Your design shows through to the reverse as a mirror image at roughly 80 percent visibility, which is acceptable for most single-direction spots.
But choose double-sided with a blockout layer for any flag at a corner, a parking lot island, or an entrance where people approach from two directions. The blockout layer sits between two independent prints so both sides read correctly. It costs more. Worth it when half your audience sees the back.
-
Base Type Follows Your Installation Surface
-
Grass or Soil Locations
Use the steel ground spike. It drives directly into soil at outdoor events, open house curbs, and unpaved lot edges. No extra hardware needed.
-
Concrete, Asphalt, or Indoor Floors
Use the steel cross base with a water bag fillable to 15 to 20 lbs. The weight holds the flag stable without drilling into the surface. Select your base in the configurator so the correct hardware ships with your flag kit.

Ordering Multiples for a Row or Lot Perimeter
A single shark fin flag signals your location. A row of 3 to 6 matching flags at the same height creates the angular skyline that makes a car lot or storefront perimeter read as a deliberate brand statement. Not just a single sign. Orders of 10 or more qualify for volume discounts. Add all flags to the cart together so the discount applies automatically before checkout.
Pair it with
Build a Complete Branded Outdoor Zone
Shark fin flags mark the perimeter. A Custom Canopy Tent gives your team a branded structure to work under at lot activations and outdoor events. Add a Table Cover to carry your logo down to the surface level below the tent.
Close the Gap Between the Curb and Your Door
At 8 to 18 ft, your flag covers vertical visibility from a distance. An A-Frame Sign at sidewalk level pulls pedestrians the last 10 ft to your entrance. Custom Banners hung flat across a facade carry longer messages alongside the flags for sales events and grand openings.
Compare Before You Commit to a Silhouette
Still deciding on shape? Custom Blade Flags give a straight-edged, modern look with less flutter than a fin. Custom Feather Flags offer the classic curved top that most buyers recognize instantly. Custom Swooper Flags run the tallest and narrowest profile in the line, built for highway-adjacent locations where height matters most.
When You Need an Indoor Solution Instead
A 6 to 18 ft flag on a ground spike or cross base cannot stand safely in a venue with a ceiling under 20 ft. That rules out most indoor events and trade show halls. Retractable Banner Stands bring the branded floor display indoors without any pole height concern.
FAQs
Does the Angular Shark Fin Shape Cut Into My Logo's Printable Area?
Honestly, it does taper toward the tip, but your usable space sits in the wide lower section of the fin where logos and bold text fit cleanly. Keep all critical artwork within the widest third of the shape and nothing gets cropped. Our free shape-specific templates mark the safe zone before you upload.
Will the Flag Stay Readable When the Air Is Completely Still?
The shark fin shape does hang flatter in calm air than it does in a breeze, so design for legibility at a distance rather than close-up detail. Bold logos, large type, and high-contrast color combinations read clearly even when the flag is not moving. Avoid fine print under 3 in tall, because that detail softens when the fabric relaxes.
What Does My Flag Look Like Before It Goes to Print?
Every order includes a free digital proof showing your design placed on the shark fin silhouette. Production does not start until you approve that proof. The review step catches layout issues at the angular tip, color contrast problems, and any text that drifts too close to the sleeve edge.
Can I Reorder Replacement Flag Fabric Without Buying New Hardware?
Yes. Flag graphics and hardware are sold separately, so when your fabric fades after 3 to 6 months of daily outdoor exposure, you order just the replacement print. Your steel poles and base ship once and last through multiple fabric cycles. Replacement prints ship in smaller packages than the original kit.
How Do I Keep the Flag Stable on a Windy Day at a Parking Lot or Open Field?
Surface type determines your answer. For asphalt or concrete, the steel cross base with a water bag filled to 15 to 20 lbs holds the pole upright in moderate wind without any drilling. For grass or soil, the steel ground spike drives straight into the ground and stays put. Neither setup is rated for sustained winds above 25 mph, so pull the flag if a storm rolls in.
Get your artwork right
Here's the thing about the shark fin shape: the angular tip tapers sharply toward the top. Keep your logo and any critical text within the widest section of the silhouette. Anything pushed too high toward the tip risks cropping or distortion at the edge.
- Accepted formats
- PDF, AI, PNG, JPG. Vector files (PDF or AI) work best for logos because they scale to any flag height without losing a crisp edge.
- Resolution
- 150 DPI minimum at final print size. Go to 300 DPI for flags under 8 ft, where viewers get within 5 to 10 ft and soft edges become visible.
- Bleed
- 0.25 in on all edges. Keep logos and text at least 0.5 in inside the trim line so nothing crops at the sleeve seam.
- Color mode
- CMYK, not RGB. CMYK (cyan, magenta, yellow, black) is the four-color process our dye sublimation equipment uses, so colors match your screen preview at print.

Care instructions
Product care
- Hand wash the flag fabric with mild soap and cold water. Air dry completely before folding or storing. Do not machine wash. Agitation loosens the pole sleeve stitching and damages the knitted edges that hold the dye sublimation color in place.
- Fold the flag loosely rather than creasing it flat. Tight folds held for weeks leave permanent lines across the printed surface. Wipe pole sections with a dry cloth after each outdoor use and check the threaded connectors for sand or debris that strips the threads over time.
- Pull the steel ground spike after each use and rinse off soil before storing. Spikes left in wet ground rust at the tip and become harder to drive cleanly on the next setup. Drain the water bag fully before transport to prevent mildew inside the bag.
