Permanent Adhesive Vinyl With UV-Cured Dry Erase Coating
The base material is permanent-adhesive vinyl with a UV-cured dry erase coating on the face. UV-cured means the coating bonds under ultraviolet light, creating a glossy, smooth surface that accepts standard dry erase markers without ghosting. The adhesive bonds firmly to smooth painted walls, glass, cabinet surfaces, and solid doors. You get a writable surface that stays put. No mounting hardware. No framed board to hang.
Die-Cut to Any Shape Up to 58.5 in Wide
Every order ships die-cut (cut to your exact outline) and kiss-cut on the backing sheet. Kiss-cut means the vinyl layer is cut through but the backing stays intact, so you peel a clean edge with no trimming at the wall. Orders wider than 58.5 in ship in multiple pieces with alignment overlap marked on the backing. Sharp edges. Clean peel. Done.
Full-Color UV Printing on the Glossy Writable Face
A2Z Printing Hub UV prints in full color directly onto the glossy dry erase face before your order ships. UV printing (ink cured instantly by ultraviolet light) produces a scratch-resistant, waterproof output that holds up through daily erasing. You can add a printed border, grid lines, or logo around the writable area. The rest of the surface stays fully writable.

Ideal for
Not the best fit for
If your goal is a fixed logo, URL, or storefront graphic on a door or wall, this is not the right product. Go to Custom Vinyl Door Decals or Custom Die Cut Vinyl Decals instead.
The permanent adhesive is rated for smooth flat walls, not curved painted metal or vehicle surfaces. A freestanding whiteboard handles curved equipment better.
Full window coverage with one-way visibility needs perforated vinyl. Window Decals are built for that application.
How to choose
Use these buying points to choose the right Custom Dry Erase Vinyl Decals configuration.
-
Writable Surface vs. Printed Graphic
This product turns a smooth wall, cabinet, or door into a surface you write on and erase repeatedly. It is not a fixed-image decal. If your goal is a logo, business name, or URL that stays printed on a surface permanently, go to Custom Die Cut Vinyl Decals or Custom Vinyl Door Decals instead. If your goal is a surface you mark up with dry erase markers and wipe clean, you're in the right place.
-
The Right Wall or Cabinet Surface
The permanent adhesive bonds firmly to smooth, flat surfaces: painted drywall, glass, laminate cabinet doors, and solid wood doors all hold well. Textured walls, brick, and unfinished surfaces do not hold the adhesive cleanly. Test a small corner before applying the full decal, especially on painted surfaces less than 30 days old (fresh paint can pull).
-
Custom Shape vs. Standard Rectangle
A rectangle works for most wall and cabinet applications and is the default. Die-cut to any shape up to 58.5 in wide if your space calls for something specific, such as a speech bubble for a brainstorm wall or a layout that follows a room outline. Custom shapes cost the same and ship in the same 1 to 2 business day window. Upload your shape outline at checkout.
-
Adding Printed Elements to the Dry Erase Face
-
Blank Writable Surface
No artwork file needed. Submit your dimensions and shape. The entire face stays writable from edge to edge.
-
Printed Border, Grid, or Logo
Upload your artwork with printed elements in place and leave the writable area blank. We UV print the design directly onto the glossy face, and the unmarked area stays fully writable. Keep text and design elements at least 0.5 in from the cut edge so nothing gets trimmed in die-cutting.
Pair it with
Fixed Information on the Same Door
A dry erase decal handles content that changes daily. But your door still needs a fixed layer: business name, suite number, hours, or a logo that never moves. Custom Vinyl Door Decals sit alongside the writable surface without overlapping jobs. Both apply to the same smooth door surface.
Printed Graphics on the Same Smooth Walls and Cabinets
Your dry erase decal is a writable surface, not a printed graphic. For fixed-image branding on the same walls and cabinets, these two handle it cleanly. Clear vinyl works where the surface should show through.
Larger Printed Coverage on Interior Walls
A dry erase decal covers the writable zone. Wall Decals cover the surrounding area with printed murals or branded graphics. The two products divide the wall by function without conflict.
Permanent Signage for Information That Never Changes
Room numbers, safety notices, and regulatory labels do not belong on a writable surface. Custom Signs give you a rigid, permanent layer for that content, while your dry erase decal handles everything that updates daily.
FAQs
Does the Dry Erase Surface Erase Cleanly or Does It Ghost Over Time?
The glossy UV-cured coating erases cleanly with a dry eraser or soft cloth when you wipe it regularly. Ghosting happens when marker ink sits on the surface for more than 24 hours without wiping. For stubborn marks, apply isopropyl alcohol to a soft cloth and wipe gently. That clears most residue without damaging the coating.
How Do Dry Erase Vinyl Decals Attach and Will They Damage Paint on Removal?
The adhesive backing bonds firmly to smooth painted walls, glass, and cabinet surfaces. Removal is straightforward: peel slowly from one corner. On painted drywall, use a heat gun on low to soften the adhesive first. Factory-painted surfaces and properly cured latex wall paint typically release cleanly with no damage.
Can I Order a Shape That Matches a Specific Room Layout or Cabinet Outline?
Yes. We die-cut to any shape up to 58.5 in wide. Upload your shape outline at checkout, and we cut the vinyl to match it exactly. Orders wider than 58.5 in ship in multiple pieces with alignment overlap marked on the backing sheet so you line them up at the wall without guessing.
How Long Does the Writable Surface Last Before It Stops Erasing Cleanly?
With regular use and proper care, the UV-cured dry erase coating holds up for roughly 2 to 3 years. Abrasive scrubbers scratch the glossy surface and shorten that window significantly. When erasing becomes difficult even after isopropyl alcohol treatment, the surface is ready to replace.
What Happens if My Order Arrives Damaged or the Coating Is Defective?
Send us a photo and we reprint and reship at no charge. We do not ask you to ship the damaged product back. This applies to coating defects and any damage that happens in transit.
Get your artwork right
We accept PDF, PNG, JPG, and AI files. AI vector files are the best choice for logos because they scale without softening at any size.
- Resolution
- Resolution matters on the printed elements. Minimum 150 DPI, but 300 DPI is the right target for any border, grid, or logo on the dry erase face. That's where buyers notice a soft edge up close. Set your file to CMYK color mode before you upload. RGB looks different on screen than it prints, and CMYK matches how our UV process lays down ink so colors land as expected.
- Bleed
- Include 0.25 in bleed on all sides. Keep text and logos at least 0.5 in from the cut edge. For die-cut shapes, submit your artwork on a transparent background so we cut around the design cleanly. And if you want a blank writable surface with no printed elements, skip the artwork file entirely. Submit your shape outline only.
Not ready to design? Use our free online design tool or request our professional design service. Submit your artwork on a transparent background for die-cut decals and our team sends you a free digital proof within 24 hours.

Care instructions
Product care
- Wipe the dry erase surface with a dry eraser or soft cloth after each use. Do not let marker ink sit longer than 24 hours. Extended dwell time makes removal harder and can leave faint ghosting behind.
- For stubborn marks, apply isopropyl alcohol to a soft cloth and wipe gently. Abrasive scrubbers scratch the glossy coating and reduce erasability, so avoid them entirely.
- Clean the surrounding wall or cabinet with mild soap and water. Keep wet cleaners away from the decal edges, which weakens the adhesive bond over time.
- The writable coating typically lasts roughly 2 to 3 years with regular use. When erasing stays difficult even after isopropyl alcohol treatment, it's time to replace the decal. Peel slowly from one corner, and use a heat gun on low if the adhesive resists.
