How to orderSpecifications
Custom Safety Signs are full-color aluminum signs built for indoor and outdoor workplace and property safety messaging. Each sign runs on .040 aluminum with direct UV print, covering OSHA-convention green and white layouts across three standard sizes. These are built to mount and stay readable for 5 or more years without surface degradation.
- Material
- .040 aluminum (roughly 1mm thick rigid metal sheet, the industry-standard gauge for commercial signs).Does not rust, does not warp, and holds mounting hardware without cracking over years of outdoor exposure.
- Print Method
- Direct UV print (ink applied directly to the aluminum surface and cured instantly by UV light).Produces a scratch-resistant, waterproof finish with no laminate layer needed.
- Color Output
- Full color across the entire sign face. OSHA-convention green and white layouts available as standard templates. Custom color combinations also available.
- Finishing
- Straight or rounded corners available.Rounded corners reduce sharp edges on signs mounted at shoulder or head height in high-traffic areas.
- Size Range
- 12x18 in, 18x24 in, and 36x24 in.The 36x24 in covers wide bay walls and loading dock zones readable from 20 or more feet away.
- Indoor/Outdoor Rating
- Rated for indoor and outdoor use. Direct UV print holds up in direct sun and rain for 5 or more years without fading or rusting.
- Single/Double-Sided
- Single-sided for wall, fence, and post mounts. Double-sided for aisle or overhead mounts where the sign needs to read from both directions.
- Weight
- A 12x18 in sign weighs roughly 0.5 lb. A 36x24 in sign weighs roughly 1.5 lb, easy to mount with standard screws or standoffs.

.040 Aluminum That Does Not Rust Outdoors
.040 aluminum is the industry-standard thickness for commercial signs, roughly 1mm thick rigid metal. It holds its shape on a wall, fence, or post for 5 or more years without rusting. No replacement after the first hard winter, no surface bubbling from moisture, and no mounting hardware pulling through a warped panel. Sturdy enough to take a bolt without cracking, light enough to hang without a second set of hands.
Direct UV Print in OSHA-Convention Green and White
Direct UV print applies full-color ink directly to the aluminum surface and cures it instantly under UV light. The result: a scratch-resistant, waterproof finish with no laminate layer needed. A2Z Printing Hub locks OSHA-convention green and white into the surface so your Hard Hat Area and Authorized Personnel Only signs stay crisp and readable under warehouse lighting or direct sun. Colors don't wash out. The finish doesn't peel.
Three Sizes, Single or Double Sided, Straight or Rounded Corners
Three standard sizes cover the full range of workplace and property safety mounting needs. A 12x18 in sign fits door frames and column faces. The 18x24 in works across open wall sections and fence lines. And the 36x24 in covers wide bay walls and loading dock zones where workers read from 20 or more feet away. Single or double-sided printing with straight or rounded corners lets you match the sign to the exact mounting spot. (Rounded corners remove the sharp 90-degree edge on signs at shoulder height in busy walkways.)
Customer reviews
Ideal for
Not the best fit for
Hazard-specific warnings like Warning: High Voltage or Warning: Forklift Traffic follow orange and yellow OSHA conventions, not green and white. Custom Safety Warning Signs are the right call there.
Lower-severity alerts like Caution: Wet Floor use yellow with black text per OSHA convention. Custom Caution Signs cover that category.
General business identification, including lobby directories or storefront signage, is not regulatory. Business Signs handle that.
How to choose
Use these buying points to choose the right Custom Safety Signs configuration.
-
Picking the Right Size for Your Mounting Location
Size follows viewing distance. A 12x18 in sign reads clearly from up to 15 ft, which makes it the right fit for door frames, column faces, and narrow wall sections at eye level. Go with 18x24 in for open floor areas and wide walls where workers read the sign from 15 to 25 ft away. Use 36x24 in for large bay walls, loading docks, and any zone where the message needs to land at a glance from across the room. Pick your size by standing at the farthest point a worker will read it from, then order.
-
Choosing Between Single-Sided and Double-Sided Printing
Single-sided printing works for any sign mounted flat against a wall, fence, or post where workers approach from one direction. Double-sided is the right call for aisle posts, overhead mounts, and intersections where workers approach from both sides. If you're not certain, double-sided adds minimal cost and covers both directions without a second order.
-
Matching OSHA Color Conventions to Your Sign Type
Green and white is the OSHA convention for general safety awareness: Hard Hat Area, Safety Glasses Required, Authorized Personnel Only. That's what these signs cover. But if your message warns about a specific hazard with potential for serious injury (high voltage, forklift traffic, chemical storage), that falls under orange or yellow Warning convention. Custom Safety Warning Signs are the right fit there, not this product. Match the color to the severity level before you upload your design.
-
Deciding Between Straight and Rounded Corners
Rounded corners remove the sharp 90-degree edge on signs mounted at shoulder height or below in high-traffic walkways. They're worth choosing any time workers pass within arm's reach of the sign edge. Straight corners are fine for overhead mounts, high wall placements, and any location where the sign sits well above head height. Choose your corner style in the configurator before checkout.
Pair it with
Complete the Full Safety Cluster
Green and white signs cover general safety awareness. But hazard-specific messages need their own color convention. Custom Safety Warning Signs handle orange and yellow OSHA warnings for situations like high voltage and forklift traffic. Custom Caution Signs cover lower-severity yellow alerts like wet floors and low clearances. Together, all three cover the full OSHA severity range.
Add Property Access Control
Safety signs tell workers what to do inside a facility. Custom No Trespassing Signs handle the perimeter, restricting access before anyone reaches the door. Mount both in one order to cover compliance from the property line to the work floor.
Add Night Visibility
Any safety sign facing a vehicle approach path or a low-light area should bounce light back toward the viewer. Custom Reflective Signs apply engineer-grade reflective sheeting to the same .040 aluminum substrate, so your Hard Hat Area and Authorized Personnel signs stay readable after dark.
Extend to Ground Level and Temporary Surfaces
Wall-mounted signs cover eye level. Floor Decals add OSHA-convention safety markings at ground level inside the same facility. Custom Banners cover temporary safety messaging during equipment changeovers before permanent aluminum signs go up.
FAQs
Do Custom Safety Signs on .040 Aluminum Meet OSHA Color and Format Requirements?
Our OSHA-convention green and white templates follow the color and layout standards used for general safety awareness signage. The green matches Pantone 335 C, which is the recognized standard for Hard Hat Area, Authorized Personnel Only, and Safety Glasses Required signs. That said, we're a sign printer, not a compliance auditor. For regulated facilities running formal OSHA inspections, confirm your specific posting requirements with your safety officer before ordering.
How Long Will a Safety Sign Hold Up Mounted Outdoors?
Direct UV print on .040 aluminum holds up for 5 or more years in direct sun, rain, and humidity without fading or rusting. The ink cures into the aluminum surface under UV light, so there's no laminate layer to peel or crack. A warehouse exterior wall, a fence post, or a construction site entrance are all fair-game mounting spots for year-round outdoor exposure.
Can I Get a Free Proof Showing the Exact Layout Before My Signs Go to Print?
Yes. Every order includes a free digital proof showing the exact print layout, corner style, and color output before we run a single sign. We do not start production until you approve the proof, so you stay in control of the final output at every step.
What Is the Turnaround Time If I Need Custom Safety Signs for a Compliance Deadline?
Standard production runs 1 to 2 business days after proof approval. Order before 12 PM EST and your signs go into production the same day. Shipping time depends on your location and selected carrier. If you're working toward a specific audit date, place your order with enough lead time to account for shipping transit.
Do I Need to Supply a Finished Design, or Can I Use a Pre-Built OSHA-Convention Template?
You don't need a finished file. Our free online design tool includes pre-built OSHA-convention safety sign templates with green and white layouts already formatted. Upload your logo or text, adjust the message, and submit. Or, if you need a fully custom layout, our design service handles that for you.
Get your artwork right
File format matters before anything else. We accept PDF, PNG, JPG, and AI files. Vector formats like AI keep logos and text crisp at any size, so use them when you have them.
- Bleed
- 0.25 in on all sides. Ink runs to the cut edge, so artwork needs to extend past it.
- Safe zone
- Keep all text and logos at least 0.5 in from each edge so nothing gets trimmed.
- Color mode
- CMYK, not RGB. RGB is for screens. CMYK is how we print, so your colors come out on aluminum matching what you approved. OSHA-convention green is Pantone 335 C or CMYK equivalent: 100C 0M 52Y 22K.
Resolution is the next checkpoint. Minimum 150 DPI gets your file to press. For any sign under 18 in wide, go with 300 DPI. A viewer standing 5 to 10 ft away will spot a soft edge on a logo or blurry text line, so set your canvas to 300 DPI before you start.
Our free online design tool includes pre-built OSHA-convention safety sign templates. And if you need a custom layout, our professional design service builds it for you. Upload your sign artwork and our team sends you a free digital proof showing the exact print layout, mounting holes, and corner style within 24 hours.

Care instructions
Product care
- Wipe the sign face with a damp cloth and mild soap once or twice a year. Warehouse grease, dust, and outdoor grime wipe off clean without damaging the UV-printed surface.
- .040 aluminum does not rust, so no seasonal coating or protective treatment is needed. The sign holds up in direct sun, rain, and humidity for 5 or more years without surface degradation.
- Check your mounting hardware once a year. Screws, bolts, and standoffs can loosen from nearby machinery vibration or wind load on exterior walls. Retighten anything that has shifted.
- Inspect the sign face after any direct impact from forklifts or carts. Aluminum at .040 thickness can dent on a hard hit. Replace any sign with a bent face that affects text readability.
