.040 aluminum forms the base of every sign we produce here. It's a rigid metal sheet about 1mm thick. Same gauge used for commercial road signs across the country. Holds its shape on a fence post, wall mount, or U-channel post for 5 or more years without rusting, so you don't replace the sign after the first hard winter. Can One Sign Carry Multiple Lines of Text or Mixed Messages?
Yes. Full-color UV printing covers the entire sign face in a single pass, so you can include a property name, ownership line, road designation, and any secondary message on one sign. Keep the most important line at the largest text size so it reads clearly at your intended viewing distance.
What Mounting Hardware Do I Need, and Does It Come With the Sign?
Hardware is not included with the sign. A 18x24 in aluminum sign weighs roughly 1 to 2 lbs, so most standard U-channel posts, wall-mount brackets, or fence rail hardware handles it without extra reinforcement. Order hardware separately based on your post type, and pre-drill your sign at checkout if you want factory-placed holes matched to your bracket spacing.

- Resolution
- Resolution matters most on the two smaller sizes. Set your file to 300 DPI for 12x18 and 18x24 inch signs, where viewers read from 10 to 20 ft away and soft edges show. The 36x24 inch size reads well at 150 DPI minimum since most viewers stand farther back.
- Color mode
- Build your file in CMYK color mode (a four-ink system that matches how our UV printer lays down ink on aluminum). RGB files look accurate on screen but shift in print. CMYK keeps your colors accurate.
- Bleed
- Set bleed to 0.25 inches on all four sides. Keep all text and logos at least 0.5 inches inside the trim edge so nothing gets cut off at the corner or edge during finishing.

Care instructions
Product care
- Wipe the sign face with a damp cloth and mild soap once or twice a year to clear road dust, pollen, and grime off the surface. Aluminum does not rust, so water contact is not a concern during cleaning.
- Check mounting hardware once a year. Wind vibration and nearby vehicle traffic loosen bolts and post brackets over time, so retighten any fasteners before the sign shifts out of position. Double-sided signs on post mounts should be checked for rotation after high-wind events. Confirm both faces still point toward the intended traffic directions and adjust the bracket if the sign has turned.
- Inspect the sign face after any severe weather event. Direct UV printing resists scratching and fading, but physical impact from debris can dent the aluminum. A dented sign remains functional but may need replacement if the text becomes hard to read from a normal viewing distance.
