How to orderSpecifications
Custom Military Banners print on PVC Flex vinyl in 11 oz or 16 oz weight, built to carry names, ranks, photos, and unit insignia for tribute and ceremony use. Both weights handle indoor and outdoor display. Here's the thing: material weight is the single biggest decision you'll make on this order.
- Material
- PVC Flex vinyl.A smooth, glossy surface that holds ink cleanly through heat, humidity, and direct sun without cracking or peeling.
- Print Method
- Eco-solvent or UV inkjet. Both methods lay weather-resistant ink onto the vinyl surface, holding color outdoors for roughly 6 to 12 months.
- Color Output
- CMYK full color. The 4-color process using cyan, magenta, yellow, and black reproduces branch colors, insignia, and portrait photos across the full print area.
- Finishing
- Brass grommets every 2 ft. Pole pockets and hem and heat weld also available. Each option suits a different mounting setup: grommets for rope or zip ties, pole pockets for rods, heat weld for clean framed edges.
- Size Range
- Custom sizing available. Banners wider or taller than 10 ft include a welded seam (a heat-bonded join line) for structural support.Plan your layout so the seam falls across a solid background, not across a face or text block.
- Indoor/Outdoor Rating
- Both weights work indoors and outdoors. The 16 oz is rated roughly 6 to 12 months in direct sun.The 11 oz suits short-term outdoor use and indoor ceremony halls.
- Single/Double-Sided
- Single-sided is standard. Double-sided uses a blockout liner (a white layer between front and back prints) to prevent show-through.Choose double-sided when both faces of the banner are visible to approaching traffic.
- Weight
- 11 oz or 16 oz.The 11 oz is lighter and easier to hang indoors. The 16 oz is thicker and resists sagging in sustained outdoor wind.

Name, Rank, and Photo Printed on 11 oz or 16 oz PVC Flex Vinyl
PVC Flex vinyl (a smooth, glossy outdoor material) carries your service member's name, rank, and portrait photo across the full banner face. No cracking, no fading. The 11 oz weight suits indoor ceremony halls where the banner hangs flat against a wall or backdrop. Choose 16 oz for outdoor base entrances and home front yards where sustained wind and direct sun are real factors. Thicker vinyl holds its shape through the full event. Sharp colors. Sturdy edges.
Brass Grommets Every 2 ft for Base Entrance and Yard Mounting
Grommets (brass rings punched into the banner edges) land every 2 ft along all sides, giving you solid anchor points for rope, zip ties, or bungee cords. And that spacing matters. A banner spanning a garage door or fence line stays flat instead of billowing when anchored at regular intervals. Pole pockets (fabric sleeves along the top or bottom edge for a rod) and hem and heat weld (folded, heat-sealed edges) are also available. Pick the finish that matches your mounting setup. Easy setup. No guessing on hardware.
Free Digital Proof Before Every Order Goes to Print
A2Z Printing Hub sends a free digital proof within 24 hours of your order. You confirm names, ranks, and photo placement before a single drop of ink hits the vinyl. This step matters most for tribute banners where a misspelled rank or a cropped face cannot be fixed after the banner ships. You approve the layout. Then production starts.

Not the best fit for

How to choose
Use these buying points to choose the right Custom Military Banners configuration.
-
Indoor Ceremony Hall Versus Outdoor Base Entrance or Yard Display
Ceremony halls need 11 oz PVC Flex vinyl with pole pockets so the banner slides onto a rod and hangs flat against a wall. No sagging. Outdoor base entrances and home front yards need 16 oz with brass grommets every 2 ft. The heavier weight resists wind load and holds its shape through a full homecoming event. Pick your mounting location first, then select the weight.
-
Single-Sided Tribute Versus Double-Sided Banner Visible From Both Directions
Single-sided works for any setup where the banner faces one direction: a garage door, a ceremony wall, a fence line. Choose double-sided with a blockout liner when the banner hangs from a rope or pole at a base entrance where approaching traffic sees both faces. The blockout liner (a white layer between front and back prints) stops color from bleeding through. Worth knowing: double-sided adds material cost but is the only option that reads correctly from both directions.
-
Standard Size Versus Large-Format Banner Needing a Welded Seam
Banners up to 10 ft in width and height print as a single panel. No seam. Order above 10 ft in either dimension and the banner includes a welded seam (a heat-bonded join line running across the panel). Plan your layout so that seam falls across a solid background color rather than a face, a name, or a rank block. And if you're unsure about placement, our proof step catches seam position before production starts.
-
Standard Turnaround Versus Rush Order Tied to a Fixed Homecoming Date
Homecoming dates do not move. Standard production runs 1 to 2 business days, which covers most orders placed well ahead of the event. But if your homecoming date falls within 3 business days of ordering, place your order before 12 PM EST for same-day production start. Upload a print-ready file at order time (not after the proof step) to avoid revision delays that eat into your window.
Pair it with
Flag the Entrance Before the Banner Comes Into View
Custom Flags planted at the curb or driveway add a second layer of visibility from down the street. They work at base entrances and home front yards alike.
Shelter and Dress the Gathering Area
A Canopy Tent covers the outdoor reception spot at base homecoming events and keeps the gathering area organized. Table Covers dress the reception table at retirement and promotion ceremonies so the full setup looks intentional, not improvised.
General Base Signage Without Military-Specific Design
Custom Vinyl Banners handle directional and general event signage at the same base location. Use them where military-specific design language is not needed. Event Banners carry occasion-specific templates for personal celebrations that fall outside a tribute or ceremony context.
Permanent Indoor Recognition Beyond the Event
Custom Signs in metal or acrylic work for long-term indoor displays in ceremony halls or unit offices. A vinyl banner needs seasonal replacement; these do not.
FAQs
Will My Service Member's Photo Print Clearly at Banner Size?
The short answer: resolution decides everything. Submit your photo at 300 DPI for banners under 4 ft, where viewers stand close enough to spot a soft edge. For larger formats, 150 DPI is the floor. We send a free digital proof within 24 hours so you can review the photo at actual print size before a single drop of ink hits the vinyl.
Can I Get My Banner Delivered Before a Homecoming Date That Is Only Days Away?
Orders placed before 12 PM EST start production the same day. Standard turnaround runs 1 to 2 business days. Upload a print-ready file at order time and approve the proof immediately to keep every hour in your favor. Shipping time depends on your carrier selection and destination, so factor that into your order date.
What Happens If My Banner Arrives Damaged or With an Incorrect Name or Rank?
We reprint it. Free. No back-and-forth required. If the error is on our end, a replacement ships without additional cost. This is why the free proof step exists: you confirm names, ranks, photo placement, and unit insignia before production starts, which catches most issues before they reach print.
Do Banners Wider Than 10 ft Have a Seam That Cuts Through the Photo or Text?
Banners above 10 ft in either dimension include a welded seam. But the seam does not have to cross a face or text block. Send us your layout and we position the seam across a solid background area. The proof shows you exactly where it falls so you approve placement before the banner goes to print.
Can I Order a Double-Sided Banner So the Tribute Reads Correctly From Both Directions?
Yes. Double-sided uses a blockout liner between the front and back prints to prevent color from bleeding through. Both faces carry the full tribute design: name, rank, photo, and unit insignia. This option works best for banners hanging from a rope or pole at a base entrance where foot traffic and vehicle traffic approach from opposite directions.
Get your artwork right
Resolution makes or breaks a portrait banner. We accept PDF, PNG, JPG, and AI files. AI is vector format, meaning artwork built from lines and math rather than pixels. It scales to any banner size without losing a sharp edge, which makes it the best choice for logos and insignia.
- Resolution
- Submit photos and portrait images at 300 DPI (dots per inch, the measure of print detail density) for any banner under 4 ft. Viewers get close enough at ceremony distances to spot a soft edge on a face or name block. For larger formats, 150 DPI is the floor.
- Color mode
- Add 0.25 in of bleed (extra artwork beyond the trim line) on all four sides to prevent white edges after cutting. Keep all text, names, ranks, and logos at least 0.5 in inside the trim line in the safe zone. Submit files in CMYK color mode. RGB is not a match for how we print, so branch colors and insignia can shift unexpectedly if you submit in RGB.

Care instructions
Product care
- Wipe the vinyl surface with a damp cloth and mild soap to remove dirt or weather residue. Do not machine wash. PVC Flex vinyl holds up to routine cleaning without cracking or peeling, but harsh scrubbing can lift ink near the edges.
- Roll the banner loosely for storage rather than folding it. Folding leaves crease lines that show in the print surface. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sun to extend the color life beyond the standard 6 to 12 month outdoor rating. And if a crease forms during transport, lay the banner flat in direct sunlight for roughly 30 minutes to relax the vinyl back to a smooth surface.
