How to orderSpecifications
Custom Church Signs are rigid 3/16 in foam core panels built for indoor worship and community facility signage. Each panel combines a polystyrene foam center with bright white faces and full-color UV printing. Best for lobbies, sanctuaries, fellowship halls, and campus wayfinding where a sturdy, lightweight display fits into existing frames.
- Material
- 3/16 in white foam core. Polystyrene center bonded to bright white paper faces on both sides, giving you a flat, rigid panel.
- Print Method
- Direct UV print. Ink cures instantly on the foam core surface for a scratch-resistant finish that does not peel.
- Color Output
- CMYK full color. Cyan, magenta, yellow, and black inks reproduce your full logo palette, photography, and text accurately.
- Finishing
- No laminate needed. UV-cured surface is the finished face, with clean-cut edges ready for frames or adhesive strips.
- Size Range
- Standard sizes are 18x24 in and 24x36 in. Custom dimensions are available for non-standard frames or oversized lobby displays.
- Indoor/Outdoor Rating

- Single/Double-Sided
- Single-sided or double-sided printing available. Double-sided panels work for freestanding frame displays visible from both directions.
- Weight
- Roughly 1 lb for a 24x36 in panel. One person carries, hangs, or swaps panels without tools.

3/16 in Foam Core With Direct UV Printing
Foam core (a polystyrene center bonded to smooth white faces) runs exactly 3/16 in thick. That thickness gives you a rigid, flat panel that holds its shape inside a frame without bowing under interior lighting. UV printing cures ink directly onto the face in seconds, bonding to the surface so color does not peel or bubble over years of indoor use. Scratch-resistant finish. No laminate needed.
Full-Color CMYK Output on a Bright White Surface
CMYK direct UV printing (cyan, magenta, yellow, and black inks combined) lays full color straight onto the bright white foam core face. The white surface acts like a natural backdrop, so your service times, welcome text, and event graphics come out bold and crisp without a separate coating on top. A2Z Printing Hub runs every order through a free digital proof so you see exact colors before we print a single panel.
Lightweight Rigid Panels That Fit Standard Frames
A 24x36 in panel weighs roughly 1 lb. One volunteer can carry, swap, and hang it without tools or a second set of hands. The panels drop into most standard poster and snap frames without custom hardware, so you do not need to replace your existing mounts when you reorder a new design. Sturdy enough to hold flat. Light enough to swap weekly.

Ideal for
Not the best fit for
Outdoor roadside or building facade signs exposed to rain or direct sun for more than a few hours. Foam core is rated for indoor use only. Church Banners handle outdoor event messaging.
Permanent exterior building identification that needs to last 5 or more years on a facade or monument base. Custom Outdoor Signs on aluminum are the right call there.
Vehicle or trailer signage for church vans. Magnetic Signs handle removable vehicle branding without adhesive damage.
How to choose
Use these buying points to choose the right Custom Church Signs configuration.
-
Matching Sign Size to Viewing Distance
Start by measuring the distance between the sign and the nearest point where a visitor will stop to read it. Door labels and room names typically get read from 3 to 8 ft away. At that range, an 18x24 in panel with text at least 1 in tall reads clearly without crowding the frame. Lobby welcome boards are different. Visitors see those from 10 to 15 ft back, so go with 24x36 in and keep your main headline at 3 in or taller. Measure your wall or frame opening first, then pick the closest standard size.
-
Choosing Single-Sided or Double-Sided Printing
Single-sided printing works for any sign mounted flat against a wall or set into a wall-mounted frame. But if your frame stands in a hallway center where visitors approach from both directions, double-sided is the right call. That applies to A-frame and freestanding snap-frame displays in lobbies or corridor intersections. Tell us your frame type when you upload your file and we'll set the layout correctly.

Deciding Between Foam Core and a More Durable Indoor Material
Foam core handles most indoor church signage well: lobbies, classrooms, hallways, and fellowship halls where signs get handled occasionally and stored flat between uses. Here's the thing, though. Some spots on a campus see constant contact. A nursery check-in counter sign or a children's wing door label gets touched, bumped, and grabbed dozens of times each week. For those locations, a harder surface holds up better. Our Acrylic Signs page covers standoff-mounted panels built for exactly that kind of daily contact.
That said, for the majority of sanctuary, fellowship hall, and wayfinding applications, foam core is the practical choice. It's lightweight, it drops into standard frames without custom hardware, and the UV-cured surface resists scratching through years of normal indoor use.
Pair it with
Finish the Indoor Signage Job
Foam core panels cover walls and frames, but some spaces need more. Church Banners handle large fabric displays in the sanctuary or fellowship hall where a rigid panel is too small for the wall. An A-Frame Sign holds your foam core panel upright in a lobby or hallway center without any wall mounting at all.
When Foam Core Isn't the Right Fit
High-touch surfaces and outdoor locations need a different material. Acrylic Signs give you a harder surface for check-in counters and nursery doors that get bumped daily. Custom Outdoor Signs on aluminum handle building facade and roadside identification that foam core cannot survive.
Event and Temporary Messaging
A permanent foam core system works best alongside flexible event signage. Custom Banners cover large-format messaging for revivals, holiday services, and community outreach days. Yard and Lawn Signs handle ground-staked parking lot directionals during special events.
Brand the Full Campus Entrance
Visitors see your exterior before they ever reach your indoor signs. Custom Flags mark the driveway entrance from the road. Window Decals brand the glass lobby doors that every visitor passes on the way in.
FAQs
Will Foam Core Signs Look as Sharp as Metal or Acrylic Options?
The short answer: yes, for indoor viewing distances. Direct UV printing lays ink straight onto the bright white foam core surface and cures it instantly, giving you bold color and crisp text without a laminate layer on top. At 3 to 15 ft, the printed face on foam core is visually indistinguishable from a flat-printed acrylic panel. The difference shows in the substrate feel, not in the print quality.
How Long Will the Printed Color Hold Up on an Indoor Sign?
UV-cured ink bonds directly to the foam core face and does not peel, bubble, or fade under typical interior lighting. Most indoor church signs hold their color for years without any touch-up. Watch out for panels placed where direct sunlight comes through a window and hits the face for several hours a day. That kind of prolonged exposure can yellow the white surface over time.
Can I Swap Foam Core Panels in My Existing Frames Without New Hardware?
Most likely, yes. Our foam core panels run 3/16 in thick, which fits the channel depth of standard poster frames, snap frames, and A-frame displays. Check your frame's interior channel depth before ordering. If your frame holds a standard 18x24 in or 24x36 in insert, our panels drop straight in without adapters or extra mounting hardware.
What File Format and Resolution Do I Need for My Church Sign Artwork?
Send us a PDF, PNG, JPG, or AI file set to CMYK color mode. Minimum resolution is 150 DPI at final print size. For any sign under 24 in on the short side, bump up to 300 DPI. Viewers read those from 3 to 8 ft and soft edges show at that range. Include 0.25 in bleed on all sides and keep text and logos inside a 0.5 in safe zone from the trim edge.
Can I Order a Consistent Design Across Every Room Label and Lobby Board in One Order?
Yes, and it's one of the most common ways church facilities directors use this product. Upload your brand files once and we apply the same color palette, fonts, and layout across every panel in the order. Multi-sign campus orders of 10 or more panels typically ship in 2 to 3 business days and qualify for automatic volume discounts in the configurator.
Get your artwork right
Resolution is the detail most buyers overlook. We accept PDF, PNG, JPG, and AI files. AI (vector format, meaning artwork built from mathematical paths rather than pixels) is the best choice for logos because it scales to any size without softening.
- Resolution
- Set your minimum resolution to 150 DPI at final print size. For any sign under 24 in on the short side, where viewers read from 3 to 8 ft, go with 300 DPI. That's where soft edges show up most on UV-cured surfaces.
- Color mode
- **Color mode matters.** Set your file to CMYK (cyan, magenta, yellow, and black) before exporting. RGB files look bright on screen but shift noticeably when printed, and the color on your foam core panel won't match what you approved.
- Bleed and safe zone
- Add 0.25 in of bleed (extra artwork extending past the trim line) on all four sides. Keep all text and logos inside a 0.5 in safe zone from the trim edge so nothing gets cut close.

Care instructions
Cleaning Your Foam Core Signs
- Wipe the printed face with a lightly damp cloth to remove dust or fingerprints. Do not scrub or use abrasive cloths, which can scuff the UV-cured surface. Spray your cleaner onto the cloth first, then wipe gently. Ammonia-based products can damage the face, so avoid them entirely.
Storing Panels Between Uses
- Store unused panels flat on a shelf or in a flat drawer. Leaning a foam core panel against a wall for more than a few days causes a permanent bow that makes it sit unevenly in a frame. Also, keep panels away from windows with prolonged direct sunlight. Extended UV exposure from outdoor light can yellow the white face over time, even on a sign used only indoors.
